Art and Culture in São Paulo

"Located in an elegantly refurbished wing of the Julio Prestes Train Station, the stunning Sala São Paulo has a capacity for 1,500 people and is one of the most important cultural centers in the city. The home of the Symphonic Orchestra of the State of São Paulo is said to have some of the best acoustics of any symphony hall. Its orchestra members come from several countries, and performers visit regularly from around the world. It’s a must-visit for those who enjoy classical music, and even for those who don’t, it’s worth dropping by to see as the building itself is an incredible sight." - MATADOR_NETWORK

We came to watch the conductor's amazing concert by Shostakovich Q The event met all expectations, the atmosphere was very beautiful, the sound quality was exceptional and everything was organized down to the last item. At the same event, we were privileged to witness the farewell of the band's violinist, A very exciting event

It is a beautiful place to have both visual delight at seeing the Sala itself as well as auditory experience by listening to the musicians performing. It's food for the soul. One feels privileged to be there. Before the symphonic, people sit have either soup or a glass of wine or browse the pretty gift shop.

Nice room, with a superb acoustics, the best place to get in touch with classic music in Sao Paulo. Easy to park (in the back of venue) an I recommend to get here by Uber or taxi. Nice cafe inside, small so get crowded during intervals.

It is a concert hall where we can feel good echo of sound. There are sometimes complimentary concert. It’s worth to go and listen melodic atmospheres. They have parking lot. Surrounding area is danger so it’s better to park there.

Great venue with signs of ancient architectures. It has been a renovated train station. Need to be careful on the surrounding though within the building is totally safe and elegant.

I recommend visiting Sala Sao Paulo for an unforgettable music experience. The Rachmaninoff 2nd Symphony performed by the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Louis Langree was a remarkable highlight. The concert hall has exceptional acoustics and is truly breathtaking.

Can much can I rave about this place? The building itself is beautiful, but the main concert hall is something else. The acoustic is perfectly adjusted by panels on the ceiling that can be mechanically moved before the concert. It doesn't happen every time, but I saw it once before an open rehearsal and it was very cool. You can also get seats behind the orchestra, which gives you the same view of the maestro as the musicians, again a very different experience. On the Main building you can have dinner or coffee and there is a nice gift shop. The only problem is that it is in a dangerous area of São Paulo, so if you are not used to the city, take a taxi and be safe. P.S. the screen at the picture obviously didn't stay down during the concert.

One of the most important concert halls in the world in the middle of the city. There is unfortunately great contrasts in São Paulo which might lead people to opt to go by taxi from Luz Station to the venue, despite the distance (7’ walk).
