We had a great dinner at Salaam Bombay on Garibaldi utca 4 in Budapest's District V the other night. It's got this nice mix of classic Indian vibes and a bit of modern flair, making it feel cozy without being stuffy—perfect for hanging out with friends.
There were four of us, my husband and I, and a couple of friends who love good food, and we all walked out super happy. I was all about the Prawns Madras—big juicy prawns in this creamy coconut curry that's spicy but not over the top. The Kashmir naan was awesome too, all fluffy with nuts and fruit inside, great for scooping up everything. I also got the daal, lemon rice, and raita, which rounded things out nicely with some hearty, zesty, and cooling flavors. Food was fresh, tasty, and felt like the real deal.
Service was spot on—, gave good recs without hovering, and the bill didn't break the bank at all, especially for how good it was. Dinner for the 4 of us with appetizers, 4 main dishes, desert and beers was $75.
If you're around Budapest and want solid Indian eats without spending a fortune, check it out. We'll be going back for sure.
