I must say that this was our second visit. It all comes down to the food and the view(location), you are going to pay for it so, it is what it is.
The thing that makes Salitre different is the Mofongo with yuca, I have to say that this time it was not as good as the first time. It was so good the first time that we talked about it for months. I'm not saying it was bad, it was delicious but it was not a "Wow, delicious bring me another one, and one to go as well".
We walked in just before rush hour, I guess, without a reservation and they had a table of 4 with an amazing view.
The staff was great, everything was clean.
The indoor sitting was very nice, the weather was awesome so the outdoor sitting was the way to go(all they had for us anyway lol).
We had the empanada stuffed with mahi mahi, it was a good appetizer... 3 small empanadas but very delicious. FYI, Another table ordered a seafood sample platter and they were all saying that it was good.
The Mofongo with shrimp was great. The catch of the day was very good.
The kids ordered ribeyes, outstanding....the kids were in heaven.
The frapes were delicious: Mango was the best. Also the strawberry with passion fruit very good.
The passion fruit juice was for sure natural.
Our total was $174.00 (no tip) on the expensive side.
2 steaks, 1 fried fish, 1 mofongo con camarones.
6 frapes, 1 juice, 1 bottle of water.
I recommend this place for romantic dates, families, families with little kids, business meals, handicapped people can enjoy the restaurant and food as well.
After you eat, you can walk along the shore, it is beautiful and y'all should visit the light house and "la posita del obispo", it is a less than 10min drive and has amazing cliff views and the waves and rocks provide a beautiful scenery.
FYI, the owner has a rental property next door (it seems nice)
They also have their own boats to catch their fish.
