Thank you for your hospitality to keep our privacy. We enjoyed food, JIgokumushi, and nice atomsphere by Jpanese style. Touji Yanagiya is a hot-spring cure hotel that has modern facilities while utilizing a traditional building dating back to the Meiji era. It is a great place for those who want to enjoy Japanese buildings. You can rent not only a room but also a whole separate building! The restaurant serves delicious vegetables, meats, and fish steamed in a hell-steaming process. They will prepare the ingredients for you, or you can bring your own. You can bring your own drinks outside. There is also an Italian restaurant, which is quite delicious. 1st floor large bathroom: Spacious indoor bathhouse where you can enjoy hot spring water from the source. 2nd floor large bathroom: In addition to the indoor bath, there is an open-air bath and a steam sauna (steam bath). Hell Steaming Facilities A stone jigoku kettle is located in the courtyard, where visitors can experience Kannawa's famous “jigoku steaming. When the valve is turned, steam of 100°C gushes out to steam food. Self-Cooking Room On the second floor of the main building, there is a self-cooking room where you can cook your own meals and prepare steamed food from hell. The room is equipped with a refrigerator, cooking utensils, tableware, and basic seasonings (soy sauce, ponzu, salt, and sugar). Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Wonderful traditional style hotel with own onsens and in-house natural steam cooking facilities (use for free, just buy food at the supermarket and use the in-house kitchen). Staff was super helpful and super friendly! Great soba just across the street (put your name on the list early!), multiple Onsen in near walking distance. Only small hint: Better bring some sleep masks as some rooms can be quite bright at night due to the emergency lighting.

We stayed one night in a room, on the first floor at the backside of the hotel. The hotel is located amidst places where steam is coming out of the surface. The hotel is a 10 minutes’ walk from the so called ‘hells of Beppu’. An ideal and quiet location. A hearty welcome in English. A large room, with a separate toilet and a wash basin for washing and shaving in the morning. The room is Japanese, but with two comfortable twin beds. The (separated man/female) bath facilities are on the ground floor. A good onsen, large enough for this small guesthouse. The (warm) breakfast, all prepared in the steam ovens of this guesthouse, is Japanese style and served in the annex building that is also used a coffee shop. A free parking lot in front of this guesthouse. Good free WiFi . ||Very friendly staff. A friendly lady, who said us farewell until we drove with our car around the corner, made some nice pictures from us when we parted. ||Summarized, a guesthouse we would book again, because it on an ideal location for a good night sleep for a reasonable price.

Beppu onsen sites are more authentic & traditional Japanese style. Google map can lead our way to this onsen hotel accurately despite extraordinary narrow pathways. Another tradition is its local cuisine steaming food by the hot spring steam! And you can see the steam flowing out at the roadside pipes! Place is clean in here, love the scent of sandalwood. We booked a dinner at the restaurant inside, turned out it was fine-dining! So different from traditional onsen cuisine! It’s absolutely a different experience & enjoyable one!

Very esthetic ryokan, we absolutely loved our stay there. The room was nice and very comfortable. They don’t offer the dinner like other ryokan does but their is a Italian restaurant inside that seems very nice (but a bit pricey). On the other hand they offer a fully equipped kitchen to prepare your own food on the self-service onsen steam « kitchen »! So go do some groceries and take this rare opportunity to try it !

No more looking for 5-star hotels, please. You have found the best place to stay during your pleasant time in Beppu. This hotel offers you the real Japan Experience, by giving you a room, a mantras and some real Japanese hospitality in a traditional Japanese way.||Although the breakfast is probably a bit difficult for western people, the cakes they sell are lovely!||Their own private onsen is a real joy after a long day hell watching and or hiking in the neighborhood. ||Hope I will come beck to Beppu, than this is surely my place to stay again!
