Went for our anniversary dinner a couple nights ago and we loved It. I got the pork belly and my wife got the cochinita pibil. Both were delicious and my pork belly skin was super crispy. Our cocktails were incredible as well. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back soon! Thank you for making our night memorable!

Our family came for a special occasion and loved the environment and attention to detail. Their aesthetics were beautiful, the staff were very attentive, and the food was delicious. I especially loved the croquetas and the elote as well as the seasonal pescado. I also highly recommend the Paloma, which was such a fresh and balanced drink.

Google
Delicious, -oddly- exuberant and minimalist at the same time. Absolutely unique dishes and obscure Mexican dishes. Portions run small but the taste definitely makes up for it. Extreme attention to detail and overzealous waiters. The manager (I guess she was the manager) stop by our table about 3 times to make sure everything was to our liking. I had no idea that we had such unique places in the Valley.

Google
Very nice selection of Mexican plates and dishes. The view as you drive up looks like an old mansion in white. Inside it is spacious and comfortable. Outside they have a huge covered patio and a relaxing fountain. We sat outside and the temperature was cool but they had big heaters to keep the area warm. Food was excellent and so was the service. Very much enjoyed eating, talking, and mingling with family in a nice relaxing environment.

We love coming here for date night. Every time we try something new, and we’ve never been disappointed. If you’re sitting outdoors during the summer, come prepared to deal with lots of flies and mosquitoes. The ambiance both indoors and outdoors is great.

This place is absolutely amazing! First of all, make reservations!! Whether you sit inside or outside, this is a beautifully decorated place. Staff was great! Food was soooooo delicious. As an appetizer, my wife and I started with Aquachile; it was fresh and light. We, then, shared Birria Tacos and one of the daily specials (I think it was called Pollo Asado, they were chicken pops). Both we very savory and left me speechless, especially the tacos. We finished off with a desert, which was just a great way to end. We were extremely pleased and will be back soon.

I love this spot. If you have not been, or are hesitant to go, you really need to experience it for yourself. I come here all the time! (Seriously- I have more pics of the food here than of my dog.... sorry Jagger!) The service is excellent. You are usually greeted by someone who opens the door for you as if you're being welcomed into their home. When I go with my boyfriend we sit at the bar and order cool cocktails with Jorge (always made with fresh ingredients). When I go with my friends, we prefer to sit outside as the ambiance is pleasant and feels like a sweet escape from the traditional valley scene. There are only a few dishes on the menu that I have yet to try but it's hard not to keep going back to my favorites. It took me quite a while to get around to the mussels, and boy was I missing out. Very impressive. Very different. Very good. I used to get the empanadas a lot, and while I do recommend you try them, I usually end up opting for something else like the huaraches mixtos as an appy. THE HUARACHES MIXTOS though... they're great. 10/10 recommend. I really enjoy ordering the corn chowder, although I don't get it often enough. You can taste the love and great ingredients they put into it. And finally, my last recommendation (except dessert) is the cochinita pibil (braised pork in achiote). It is seasoned excellently and the bed of maiz atole it sits on adds a really interesting texture to each bite and you can't get enough. For dessert- the coco rayado- no question. Also- shoutout to Milton for making us feel like family. P.S. I have to be fair and honest---- One thing I am not a fan of - I have tried the Lomo Ancho twice and don't think I would order it a third. Dish has great flavor, the cut is always cooked to requested temperature, but the strip has some gnarly chewy spots. But I never order NY strips anyway so.. idk

Yelp
I've said it once and I'll say it again. This is hands down my favorite restaurant to visit when I'm in the valley. In all honesty, prior to tonight I've only ever had a couple of appetizers. The reason why I fell in love with Salome to begin with was because they make phenomenal mezcal cocktails. Tonight my family and I stopped by to celebrate my birthday. Lily was our amazing, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious server. She was super sweet and attentive. We ordered a couple of different entrees and I was pleasantly shocked with how delicious everything was. The cocktails, as always, were perfect. The staff sent me best wishes on a birthday card and that really was the sweetest thing. Thank you to the entire Salome staff for a consistently amazing experience. Every time I'm back in town I'll come by to visit. For anyone trying to complain about this place, please don't. A million times Thank You.

Yelp
Great ambiance here. Service is fine. Food is just Mexican food. Which is fine. But if you've had like Michelin star Mexican food, at creative restaurants with talented chefs , you would have to be objective here. Not a creative menu and generic Mexican. It's ok. Not memorable. Expected more based on the awesome vibes and concept. Basic.

Yelp
Amanda A nailed the review. It is truly one of the best restaurants I've eaten at and is my favorite throughout the valley. It's just stupid good...no other way to put it. Every bite was amazing...creatively delicious. Well done and I truly hope to get back there..

Yelp
My husband made reservations and we arrived a little early. Even though we arrived early, we were seated immediately. We sat inside as it was chilly out. Outside looked absolutely gorgeous though & they had the little fire things going. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal. All in all, it was a great night. Very nice & quiet.

Yelp
Blown away is the phrase that comes to mind when I recap my experience at Salomè. The menu pushed me to try new and exciting things, all of which I was happy about. Manager Gilbert and server Leo were very knowledgeable and ensured that the customer experience was memorable. Not only is the food fantastic but so is the building and the atmosphere. It's a little pricey but man oh man is it worth it. Oh and my advice is to make a reservation!!

Yelp
Very nice place, food was delicious!!! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, they also had a violinist for a lovely ambiance. We sat in the patio. Will definitely go again. AguachileCevicheElote Salad

Yelp
Came here for dinner with work colleagues visiting from all over the US. The atmosphere on the patio outside is charming with the lights and live music (they had a violinist playing this night). The food was absolutely delicious- and the service was incredible. We tried many new dishes- and a big THANK YOU to our servers, Jenny and Delma for explaining every dish and catering to every ask we had. We were delighted with this restaurant and will make sure to return anytime we are visiting the Valley. Muchas Gracias!

Nicole S.

Yelp
absolutely amazing unique gourmet selections. perfect for date nights and celebrations. I was absolutely delighted by this place, can't wait to go back and taste more of the menu!

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere late at night. Service staff was prompt and polite, always offering refills or if we needed anything. Outdoor seating is great during covid. All employees followed the mask mandate. Highly recommend for a date night with your person.

Yelp
A M A Z I N G Will literally drive from Dallas all over again just to eat here. How in the world did McAllen of all places luck out with this restaurant? Amazing chef. The things he does with food....true & authentic mexican flavors. Can't wait to dine here again.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant at the top end of Main Street in McAllen. Somewhat pricey with a limited menu but several excellent entrees. I had the Barbacoa lamb which is slow cooked and tender with superb flavor. Small corn tortillas of various styles offered. A friend had duck confit taquitos which were excellent. Good wine selection and several beers but only one or two on tap. Nice dining ambience even in the bar area. Many patrons were fancily dressed and reservations may be needed on a busy night.
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service. The food selections on menu are truly authentic Mexican cuisine. The cocktails are freshly made and delicious combinations. The ambiance is like no other in our area, you can choose to dine inside or outside in patio. Staff is very professional and knowledgeable on what they have to offer.

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoyed the ambiance and overall experience. Simple but high end feel. We ate inside and enjoyed our drinks outside. The staff was not only respectful and kind, but incredibly knowledgeable about each dish and the drinks. We ended up bringing my 93 yo grandmother and father back here a few days later. My grandmother is pretty picky when it comes to food but not here, she enjoyed everything that was in front of her. Especially, the dessert .

Alisa F.

Yelp
Our first time here and wow, what an experience. The server was kind, knowledgeable and very attentive and when I mentioned that it was our anniversary, they took the time to present us with a champagne bottle and a beautiful had written "Happy Anniversary" card signed by every employee. They made us feel so special and the attention to detail was exquisite. The manager took time out of his busy schedule to make sure we were well taken care of and the the overall ambiance was perfectly romantic. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and we'll be talking about it for years to come. Thank you Salomé, we can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Great place to celebrate a birthday!! We took Monsignor Gus to celebrate!! Great appetizers, empanadas and guacamole!! We ended the evening with a mostachón cake to celebrate a birthday!! Great place. Beautiful ambiance and our waiter, Bulmaro was excellent!! Very attentive:)

Kimberly G.

Yelp
The location is very nice but the food was a 3/5 rating the ceviche had bread.. no ceviche has bread on it. They took forever with the tortillas, the service was fair. But the ambiance was very nice.

Yelp
And we came back after the chef/owner beat Bobby Flay in that cooking show. It was 6 of us. We still don't get it. Just another reminder why we hadn't been here in the past 2 years. Nice place, nice staff, nice food, just doesn't leave you craving anther visit.
google avatar

Yelp
The drinks are good the tacos are okay. Great place for socializing and the staff is on point, however the chefs need to step their game up. Mixologist are what keep us going back.

Yelp
Came to the valley for my great grandmas 88th birthday! I had such high expectations for this place. The drinks were great we had a pitcher of margaritas and the sangria was very fresh and you could tell the fruit had been muddled well. I went with the carne asada medium rare and it was brought well done.... The waiter noticed and took it back and then when I got my new steak it had the largest tendon and I tried as best to eat around it. The ambience was nice, a more relaxed sophistication. Our waiter I believe his name was Sonny was so great and helpful. Over all it was an okay experience. Not something I would crave.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant with a super interesting menu. Service, food and desert were all fantastic.

Yelp
I'll start by saying that I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but I do not think they are there yet. The staff was nice, attentive, and welcoming. Their cocktails are very well prepared and they definitely do not skimp you on mezcal/tequila. As far as the food, for the most part it was good but unfortunately there were a lot of inconsistencies: some of the croquetas did not have any cheese were 100% masa. As far as the empanadas, some were filled with generous portions (which were delicious) but some were barely filled. The lengua tacos were excellent and I would recommend those to anyone. The cochinito was also very good. The estoado needs some work; the mole along with the meat were very very bland... which is hard to like considering it is $28. Overall, the restaurant is good and has some potential. Personally i think it is overpriced and overhyped.

Ivanery C.

Yelp
Amazing! Great authentic and upscale Mexican food. Service is always great, and their drinks and cocktails are always delicious. Great atmosphere both inside and on their patio. Every single item on the menu is to die for coming from someone that has been there multiple times.

Yelp
Awesome dining experience. The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous especially outside on the patio in the garden amongst the palms. Service was top-notch the food was top-notch as well. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting in modern dining experience that reminds of something from Palm Springs.

David C.

Yelp
Had dinner here while visiting from San Antonio and turned out to be one of our favorite food experiences ever! Atmosphere- 10 Beautifully restored building that I believe was probably an old mansion. The colors and style of the entire building was eclectic and sophisticated. Simple and elegant. Beautiful front grounds where people can enjoy dining outdoors. People- 10 The staff was friendly and gracious, our server Yadira was charming and attentive. The Hostess treated us like we were in her home. Food - 11 The cocktails were creative and delicious. THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE! We had the short rib with black mole and the lamb barbacoa . The mole was perfection the lamb barbacoa was succulent and perfectly seasoned. We ended the experience with the burnt tortilla ice cream.... fabulous! Wow... so impressed and so glad we found this gem! 5 stars is not enough.

Yelp
Y'all should go! We had a delightful evening, celebrating our 40th anniversary here at Salomė Our waiter, Allen was just wonderful! Soooo helpful with menu suggestions and super attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was on the spot...we'll be back! Thank you, Allen for celebrating with us!

Yelp
Whole experience was so great! Small portions but for the style of restaurant it made sense. The food was seriously delicious and the drink o had was very good. My boyfriend ordered the Cerdo which was pork. And I ordered the Lechon Tacos (pork as well) as an appetizer we ordered the huaraches. All three styles it came with were all delicious. Octopus, New York strip, and chicharon. Also the staff was very helpful with recommendations and info on the food. We will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here few weeks ago, great ambience, very tentative staff, nice building with a big outside patio. As for food, more traditional Mexican dishes with their own twist. I honestly don't think the food is worth the price they charge, (needed more flavor, little too bland for my liking) To sum it up: Nice restaurant with over priced food.

Grant B.

Yelp
Came for date night, wonderful atmosphere. The food was excellent, the drinks were unique and there was live entertainment. Outdoor seating was exactly what was needed on this even as the temperature and winds were perfect.
google avatar

William M.

Yelp
First restaurant in the valley that are very knowledgeable about mezcal. And mexican gourmet food was delicious I have tried many plates and can't describe each plate just all of them are great
google avatar

Zach S.

Yelp
The Hostess tonight was so kind and helpful, it made our first experience even better! Definitely coming back.

Chas B.

Yelp
Very disappointed! We came here to celebrate our mother's bday. The service was terrible and they brought out the wrong food. Hopefully, this was just a one off, but I would not recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Karla R.

Yelp
Amazing, cute little restaurant for a nice romantic dinner or a night out with your girls. The menu at first was a little confusing to me with certain things but simply asked my waitress and she was so helpful in explaining the plate to me and with recommendations. My plate was absolutely delicious, very well served and more. I also had their house margarita, highly recommend. You will be good with one lol. Customer service was very neat and I felt very welcomed at Salomé. Can't wait to come again!

Yelp
This was our second time at Salome. The first time was good... a 4-star experience. Our second visit, however, was a complete disaster. We had a 7pm reservation on Monday night. We ordered drinks and appetizers to start. The waiter forgot our orders and how to ask again. It took about 30 minutes for the apps to arrive, which was long, but nothing out of the ordinary for a busy restaurant. When we ordered our entrees, we were told that they were out of fish, carne asada, and even lemonade. Frustrating to say the least, especially when they had already taken chicken off of the menu. Then the wait began. We waited for about an hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive. And during that time, we were never approached by a waiter to apologize for the delay or offer us more drinks or appetizers. A group that we knew who was seated 15 minutes after us had already finished their meal and left before our entrees arrived. The bill finally came 3 hours after our ordeal had begun. To put the icing on the cake, they combined our bill with the orders from another table. Our check, which was supposed to be about $300, came out to $550. After we noticed the mistake, the manager came to our table to rectify the issue. He offered to remove the apps as an apology, something that should've been done to apologize for the terrible service. As for the food, it's good, but not worth the prices, especially in McAllen. I hope Salome fixes their service issues, but until then, I will not be back.

Cecilia V.

Yelp
Terrible service. We came for mothers day and it took to hours to be served. On top of that when the check came back they had charged us what another table ordered. BEWARE OF THE SCAM. They were charging us an extra $200. Not the salome i came to a year ago....

Maria M.

Yelp
It was very disappointed by the food and the coffee. This place is overrated. The brunch was disgusting i I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to nobody. I understand they're trying to do something different but the food is definitely horrible

Lori C.

Yelp
Sat by the bar Bulmaro helped me out Best service I've had in a while. We got the Chulis pitcher and it was nothing short of perfection. Chris was our server and gave us excellent service will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Cindy M.

Yelp
Salome on Main is a treat in terms of architecture, food and service. The wine list and cocktail selection were excellent and entrees are unique. The chef uses ancient Mexican cooking techniques and the ingredients are fresh. The fish was fabulous and the chicken with mole was spectacular! The desserts continued the experience and both were full of flavor and texture. I highly recommend this restaurant!
google avatar

KK T.

Yelp
We are in love with Salomé! From the food to the ambiance, this establishment is truly a one of a kind gem in the Valley. We love to eat locally and Mexican food is definitely a favorite, especially since they offer dishes from both central and southern Mexico. The drinks are also fantastic and customer service is the best of the best. Dine at Salomé, you will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Laurie G.

Yelp
Great place for a girl's night drinking wine and enjoying their delicious dishes of food. Dessert can use some improvement but the atmosphere is calming outdoors after 7pm.
google avatar

Gabriella G.

Yelp
My experience at Salomé was not very pleasant, as I walk in the host left us standing and didn't walk us to our table i had to talk to a waiter to ask him about my table that was rude, the food was okay over price for what they give you (I had better) I do have to say mixology was good and I like that they had a lot of mezcal options. The dessert was okay but the frozen coconut was not great it was way to hard to scoop and I even mention it to the owner Larry as he ask our table how we are doing and when I mention it he ignore me and walk away. I will definitely not recommend this place nor I will come back.

Dusty G.

Yelp
Not a place for the family. Our kids plates were changed to chicken tacos and served w/ a very hot salsa. We ordered two small sopas to be served before our steak and they brought it out together. The staff acted as if we should be thankful for eating there.

Eric K.

Yelp
Excellent service, excellent food, excellent drinks. Best restaurant in the Valley... easily
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
In case you were wondering? Salome is a feminine name derived from the Hebrew word shalom, meaning "peace." I love what they have done to the place. It used to be a boutique and photo studio and since been converted into a nice bistro/patio bar and restaurant. Probably built in the early 19th century the Reminence of curved over head doors and hard wood floors still resume. Outdoor patio and dinning area is nice. Updated Barn house bar gives it a great touch. Although disappointed with my $17.00 appetizer that consisted of 3 gorditas/sopes the size of a half dollar each, spread with black beans and a grilled shrimp on each one. I opted not to eat dinner. However I did enjoy some cocktails at the bar. Will give it another try.

Yelp
This is my new favorite place to eat when I am in McAllen. The service the food and the ambience all lend itself to a remarkable dining experience. From the appetizers to the entrées to the deserts every course was better than the next. I strongly recommend you give this place a try!

Isla G.

Yelp
Horrible service, terrible tables overpriced , if you like noisy busses , best place to beside the buss station

Gail M.

Yelp
This place is very loud, I couldn't hear my server while he was wearing his mask. Liquor selection is poor. Not coming back!!!

Adriana G.

Yelp
I'm sad to say the staff at Salome was BEYOND RUDE. I had called to make a reservation inside and when I showed up to my reservation they said that was simply not true. I had my confirmation however the manager Tyrell Garcia did not accept it and his tone was extremely hurtful to hear from a manager. As a costumer I was in shock because I was really looking forward to dinning in however nobody should be talked to like Tyrell Garcia spoke to me and my family. One part of a wonderful dining experience includes the staff and that was not the case here. This is why I rate this a one star. Too bad they lost costumers during this difficult time.

Diana P.

Yelp
I ordered the Huaraches, an appetizer, and they were hard and cold. Nothing like I expected. The tres leches cake was dry and crumbly. I am very disappointed and I will definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Decided to come by for our first anniversary, when we got there they asked if we had a reservation and we didn't. It was about 8:30 when we got there and it had just finished raining too. Not too many people were in and outside of the restaurant, so we figured getting a table shouldn't be long. We waited for about 15 minutes to get a table. We were greeted well by our server. The appetizer we had was with shrimp and it was good a little spicy but good. The drinks were amazing! We got our food in about 15-20 minutes which is normal for restaurants. Food over all is good, wasn't something we haven't had before. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. My husband and I would go back to try the rest of the food on the menu.
