This was our second time at Salome. The first time was good... a 4-star experience. Our second visit, however, was a complete disaster.
We had a 7pm reservation on Monday night. We ordered drinks and appetizers to start. The waiter forgot our orders and how to ask again. It took about 30 minutes for the apps to arrive, which was long, but nothing out of the ordinary for a busy restaurant.
When we ordered our entrees, we were told that they were out of fish, carne asada, and even lemonade. Frustrating to say the least, especially when they had already taken chicken off of the menu. Then the wait began. We waited for about an hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive. And during that time, we were never approached by a waiter to apologize for the delay or offer us more drinks or appetizers. A group that we knew who was seated 15 minutes after us had already finished their meal and left before our entrees arrived.
The bill finally came 3 hours after our ordeal had begun. To put the icing on the cake, they combined our bill with the orders from another table. Our check, which was supposed to be about $300, came out to $550. After we noticed the mistake, the manager came to our table to rectify the issue. He offered to remove the apps as an apology, something that should've been done to apologize for the terrible service.
As for the food, it's good, but not worth the prices, especially in McAllen. I hope Salome fixes their service issues, but until then, I will not be back.
