Tonight was date night and we chose Salsa & Agave. So happy we did! Our server was fabulous! He brought our drinks, chips, salsa and guacamole promptly, with dinner to follow. The hot salsa has a great smoky taste with a bite-delicious! The pico de gallo was freshly made and such a treat with the chips. We enjoyed the pork tostada and the beef tacos, the flavor on both exceeded our expectations. You can choose to dine inside or sit outside, both great options.

***Be careful when dining at this place!!! CHECK YOU BILL!!!*** The server is a scam artist and will try to scam you and add extra charges on your bill without giving a heads up and explanation. We ordered large guacamole and on the bill she charged us an additional $2 for extra chips! I never ordered extra chips and she told me that the chips are not included with guacamole, how pathetic is that? When I brought this up to the server, she gave me an attitude and then expected me to tip her at least 15%, when she saw how much I tipped her (in my opinion it was a fair amount and what she deserved) she gave us more attitude and without saying anything walked away. This behavior is extremely rude and unacceptable, and shows how unintelligent/miserable the server is. If you are not happy with how much you are getting paid or your job - find something else or switch your career path but don’t get it out on customers who come to this restaurant to show support. I appreciate being served and understand that working in hospitality can be challenging BUT when you try to sneak around and add extra charges on my bill, you will get the tip that you deserve. The food was also a huge disappointment and very overpriced, not your typical, authentic yummy Mexican food. It was very bland and lacked flavor. The soup was bitter and tacos/quesadilla were poorly made. I am pretty sure that Taco Bell can make a better tasting quesadilla than them lol (see picture below). The attitude of the server definitely ruined the vibe and we will not be coming back here again. No bueno!

It's always a pleasure to come here. The food is great, the servers are super nice, the music is not too loud. The aztec soup is my favourite! 😊

Google
This place is consistently excellent. The service is friendly, helpful, and impressively fast. The food is the most authentic Mexican cuisine I’ve had in Vancouver—my favorite is the lengua tacos. The margaritas are also fantastic, and during Happy Hour, they’re only around $7. It’s affordable, welcoming, and has a great vibe. I go there all the time and always recommend it to my friends.

Google
Great lunch deals for anywhere from $16 to $9. I tried their Enchiladas with Green Sauce and Chicken and was not disappointed, especially for the price.

Google
It's one of my favorite places to drop in at when I'm working in that area. The food is always a treat! They have a good selection of tequila and a nice little streetside patio. Authentic.

I've been coming to Salsa & Agave for years now, and every single have been amazing. The food is consistently amazing—fresh, flavorful, and made with so much love. Whether I’m craving tacos, the comforting warmth of some enchiladas, or one of their incredible weekend specials, I know I’ll leave happy and full every time. The staff are always so welcoming and kind, the owner, who is usually around will treating you like family from the moment you walk in. It's rare to find a spot that gets it right every time, but this one truly does. Thank you for always making each visit so special!

Google
This restaurant is delicious and authentic Mexican food. The serving staff was great! It’s a casual place with food at a great price. They made me 2 skinny margaritas which aren’t on the menu which was very nice. I got the carnitas, tinga chicken and steak tacos. All of the meat was tender and delicious. My friend got the taquitos which were fantastic and a strawberry margarita. I would definitely return here!

Yelp
Located in Yaletown, the patio and the green restaurant name board always caught our attention when we drove by. On a nice sunny weekend we decided to chill at Salsa & Agave Mexican Grill. There was 15-20mins wait for patio seating. Staff was friendly but be aware that service is slow. The food was ok. I was dissapointed that they ran out of guacamole. We got the pitcher of margarita and it seemed like so was everyone else! We got the vegetarian enchiladas, not as flavorful would say slightly below average. Wouldn't come here for the food but is a nice place to sip on drinks while chilling with friends/family.

Yelp
I really wanted to let these guys know that I had a great experience with the food, because they were so nice, but an honest review is the only option. I walked through beautiful Yaletown to try this place, as I love Mexican food and already have my go-to Mexican place, but thought I'd give this place a whirl. I ordered the Asada Burrito for takeout and when I arrived home and took a bite...all I could taste was mashed potato. Mashed potato?! I could've sworn the ingredient list didn't mention anything about mashed potato being in the Asada Burrito...and it didn't. Asada Burrito: Diced grilled steak, beans, cheese. I was really disappointed as I had mashed potato for dinner last night and was all mashed potatoed out....(yeah, I know that's not a word). Also, overall the quality was very subpar. With a burrito, you should be able to taste each individual fresh ingredient, and of course pack it with the items promised to your customers based on the menu. The rice tasted old and the beans were a real let down (see pic). Just a couple of blocks up there is a Mexican place where the burritos are done in such a way that you can literally taste every single thing within the tortilla and its freshness bursts in your mouth. That is who Salsa and Agave is in competition with, and unfortunately they are not even in the same ballpark in terms of quality. It pains me to write this, as the gentleman behind the bar was so nice and welcoming, but I'm hoping that they will take this as a tool to improve, and become the best they can be, and feed the beautiful people of this city amazing Mexican food...that's what this review is intended for...truly.

Yelp
I went here with a friend yesterday while walking down this neighborhood. Lunch special deal sounded quite decent so we ordered 1 Tostada combo with soup ($11.50) and 3 Tacos with soup combo ($13.50) and a guava juice ($2.75). Food was good for the price. Can't find food around $11- 13 these days it's rare. Friend found the soup salty, but I liked the soup and the Tacos. Everything was great until we received the bills. Friend's bill was $15 and mine was $14.20. I should've been billed more with a drink included. We had no idea how this happened. I first thought it was an error or the waitress didn't calculate accurately. We found this quite bizarre how the waitress didn't give us a proper bills.

Yelp
When you're in the mood for authentic Mexican, this restaurant is a great, fun little place in Yaletown. Very reasonably priced and delicious. *Note-they are closed on Monday and Tuesday's. We tried the guacamole, chips, authentic Pico de Gallo, Mexican soup, and tostados are all authentically made. Order ahead if you want take-out to enjoy a picnic along the seawall. I highly recommend.

Yelp
2 stars just for tasty Nachos! My husband and I love Mexican food. Been to Mexico few times. Whenever we go to states, we go to Mexican restaurants ! We always wanted to try SALSA AND AGAVE. Last Sunday both of us and 2 other couples went there and the experience wasn't what we expected! They only thing that we loved was Nachos , so delicious! But the drinks didn't have alcohol at all!!!! We asked for tortilla and salsa ! What we got was huge tortillas and hot sauce!!!!!!!!!!!! When we asked for the real salsa, the waitress said that is called something else ( I forgot what it was ) and when she brought it, was waaay different than what we always had! quesadillaS tasted blunt! Dishes didn't come with salsa! Nothing was authentic Mexican at allllll Totally it wasn't a great experience for any of us.

Yelp
It's a decent place and I liked the service. Both of my friends were happy with their meals. But if you're into low carb high protein diet, I won't recommend it. I got the green salad with beef though the meat wasn't nearly enough 2-3 ounces.

Arnab B.

Yelp
Warning: Check your bill. They might have charged you for an extra dish. And if you dare to ask for your money back, they'll hide the bill, then give you attitude. Even if they end up giving your money back, they will only return the price of the dish, no taxes or the extra tip they've collected. Then the manager will chase you down and tell you that you've created a fuss about nothing, even though you very politely asked for the overcharge to be rectified. No, you are not allowed to pay them even a penny less, but they will happily cheat you and take more money of you. NO I WILL NOT BE RETURNING! I just edited my rating from 4 to 1. Why you ask? Well...food is ok, not the best, not the worst. But it's more about cheating, integrity and poor service.

Yelp
There's a reason why there's ALWAYS a line outside this place, authentic Mexican food and great tasting dishes for a reasonable price. The service is great and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a good choice/selection of dishes and the ingredients and quality are second to none. If you want Tex-Mex Americanised Mexican food, this ain't the place. But if you want authentic, real Mexican food the locals enjoy, give this place a visit!

Yelp
Hubby and I came here for lunch the other day just when it opened, at 11am. We first went to a few sushi restaurants in the area but they all opened up at 11:30am, so we stumbled in here, not really in the mood for Mexican food but, hey, it was the only place open. And it was empty, so we had our choice of seats. Nice to sit by the window in a warm place when it's so cold outside, that's for sure! Our hostess/server was lovely (albeit somewhat quiet). The "basket" of complimentary tortilla chips consisted of a small bowl that contained perhaps 10 chips. The photos on the menu are a bit deceiving, as the portions look SO much larger in the pictures than they are in actuality. That said, they were good, as was the accompanying salsa. There were lots of options on the lunch menu, and all reasonable priced. I ordered two soft tacos ($3 each): one marinated steak, one chicken. They were small but fresh and tasty (I much preferred the steak one). Note that I had to ask for sides of avocado and sour cream (they were brought out in tiny glass ramekins and cost about $1 extra). Hubby ordered a special with soup and two tacos for about $9. He said the soup was delicious and super flavorful. That was probably the highlight of the meal! He liked his tacos, too, but in comparison, they paled in flavor to the soup. Decent lunch place. We will return.

Yelp
The food was delicious and priced well! We got a take out of tacos enchiladas and quesadilla and all were very nicely packaged and we enjoyed it

Yelp
There are surprisingly few good Mexican joints in Vancouver, and I never expected to find my favorite one in Yaletown of all places, but I'll own it. Even going "full yaletown" with a little dog in tow (yes - their patio is dog friendly). The service is A+. Warm host/servers (hi Sergio!) make everyone feel at home. There is limited seating but the team is fast paced & goes above and beyond to make room where they can. We've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Plus it's a solid place for people watching right on Pacific. Their drink menu is authentically Mexican, with excellent micheladas(!) and Palomas. Prices are good for yaletown ($7/8 cocktails). Food-wise, they offer complimentary chips and salsa which are a small portion but the right size to just tide you over. My friends and I have tried a lot of the menu, and always leave happy! Their tacos, taquitos, and enchiladas are exceptional - add a side of habanero sauce if you want a serious kick! (It's cheap but not free.) Personally I love their burritos and highly recommend both the Mar y Tierra and the Agave.

Yelp
Been meaning to come here, finally dropped in on a whim for lunch. Lunch specials are decently priced! You can get a good meal for around $10. TIP: You want it spicy? Tell them up front and they'll help by bringing you decently spicy chilies/sauces. Azteca Soup & 2 Rolled Tacos (Taquitos) - $9.50 -I let the server pick my tacos and she came up with beef tongue, and spicy pork with pineapple. --Beef tongue very mild in flavour and not helped enough with the lime and onion provided. --"Spicy" pork was delicious but not hot-spicy if you are worried about that. Overall the tacos were OK but flavour-wise not as good as, for example, Gringo. That said I only tried two types of tacos here. Azteca Soup is a tortilla soup (strips of tortilla inside!), chipotle pepper (but it's nowhere close to spicy-hot), diced avocado, cheese, and house sour cream. -I like things spicy so I put in the provided chili sauce, and it was great! -Not too sure I like the diced avocado, and "diced" is maybe misleading since it was chunks about a half inch long/wide. Overall price for portion is good, and food is tasty enough to warrant more than a passing mark. And for once, when I ask a server for recommendations they didn't balk or get all nervous. I told her I trusted her, would eat anything, and had no allergies; and off she went confidently. Service seemed attentive and friendly!

Yelp
2 stars only for service which was pleasant and fast. We did have 3 different people come over to us in the span of 3 minutes though - which while nice, bordered on being almost disorganized. As others have said, the salsa and chips that arrived on the table was ridiculously small. The amount of salsa ( if you can call it salsa, I'll get into that later) was no kidding about 3 mm deep in the bowl. There was so little that it was quite ridiculous. When the server asked if everything was ok I told her there was almost no salsa and showed her the bowl she agreed and brought another with a little more, again hardly any in the bowl. An additional bowl of chips and salsa apparently is $1.50. Seriously? Just don't serve them, or factor in the food costs into something else and do it right. Terrible first impression. The salsa was the same red sauce that they used on the enchilada plate which I ordered( I was told this by the server). When eating it, it had a familiar distinct flavour. I'm not suggesting by any stretch of the imagination that it was this, but it tasted like Campbell's Tomato soup concentrate. Smooth, no chunks, strange flavour and a purée quite unsatisfying and a bad way to start the meal. I ordered A veggie enchilada, which came with refried beans and rice. The food arrived quickly, but the vegetables were undercooked, and the flour tortillas were rubbery. The portion sizes for this meal where what I would've expected which was good, but the food was not great, and I definitely wouldn't return. The service was definitely pleasant but I suspect that they do the bulk of their business from tourists. The most memorable part of the evening was when the server asked me if I would return them, and I said I don't think so. I had to be honest, if they're going to ask that question then I have to answer honestly. My advice, there are much better places in yaletown and Vancouver if you want great Mexican food.

Yelp
Nice and friendly place. Likes the little patio even it is close to the main road but it was cozy to sit in the evening. Tasty ceasar!

Yelp
I ordered the BC burrito bowl using the Ritual app for pick up. It took less than 15 mins for them to put the order together and when I got there it was ready for pick up. I had made some special requests on the order which was all done well. The food itself was okay, what I would expect for a burrito.

Yelp
Great place in Yaletown for Mexican food! Friendly staff and excellent service. I recommend any of the burritos and the guacamole and chips is fantastic. They also make an amazing Tre Leches cake

Yelp
We came here several times a long time ago and loved it, back in their old location, down the street. A few years ago, shortly after they changed locations, we went again and it wasn't very good. The service was mediocre, the food wasn't as tasty, and some things were expensive, ie $6 for a small dollop of habanero salsa that tasted like Tabasco. We decided not to go again. Last night, we broke down, and, wow, what a difference. The service was excellent - they were friendly and attentive. And the food was way better. Not the best mexican I've ever had, but pretty good. They have a kid's menu, which we always like to see. $7 for quesadilla, gringa (very similar to a quesadilla, but with flour tortilla instead of corn ), or burrito. The quesadilla came with rice and beans. I imagine the gringa does too, and I think the burrito had those on the inside. I had the chilaquiles with milanesa (breaded beef), which were quite good together. And my wife had two tostadas - the Veggie one and the one with potatoes. She lived the potatoes one, and in my taste, I preferred the Veggie. My daughter says : I like Salsa y Agave and they make filling stuff and they are very nice. And they have vegetarian options. Their food is good.

Yelp
I had a friend visiting from out of town and she was craving some authentic Mexican food. I haven't lived in Vancouver long myself, so I was relying on google searches and found this place. It was a real let down! They provide you with tortilla chips while you wait which is nice but whatever they serve with it is nasty. It's not salsa by any means, rather more of a sweet sauce. Not authentic by any means. I ordered a burrito and 2 tacos. They were fine but really lacking in flavour and absolutely no spice. I've travelled to Mexico several times, so I know authentic Mexican food, and this is not that. The only positive things I have to say about this place are that their fresh lemonade is very tasty- it was the best part of my meal! Our waitress was also very attentive, it's not her fault that the restaurant does not live up to its claim to be serving authentic Mexican cuisine. Next time I'm in the mood for Mexican, I will go elsewhere.
google avatar

Judy J.

Yelp
I've come here a few times and it has varied in terms of food, service and quality. I definitely don't come here for their tacos because there's better places around that offers a better taco eating experience. However, I do like the soups here and various other mexican dishes. Price point is acceptable too.

Yelp
Great Mexican restaurant in the heart of Yaletown. Staff is friendly and always on time, owner is always there (sign of good management) Food is Reasonably priced and good although is very basic (nothing to creative)

Yelp
GREAT SERVICE in a city where it's hit n miss I have to make notes when its deserved! This is my 1st visit and I will def. return. My food partner in crime joined me and we tried the Happy Hour Menu. They had tacos, taquitos or sopes X3 for $7.50 each. We ordered 2 orders of tacos and 1 order of the others so we had 12 items to munch between the 2 of us. The toppings were carnitas, shredded pollo, potato, pastor etc. Pastor tacos, carnitas sopes and potato taquitos (rolled taco on menu) were my fave. For the tacos they put cilantro, onions, salsa & lime on the side so fear not cilantro haters. I will go back and try non happy hour items next time. I think I missed out on their classics like hominy soup. Atmosphere is cozy, it's small, authentic, we sat on the patio Good tequila & Mexican beer menu too! PS We asked for more salsas to turn up the heat!
google avatar

Kwasi C.

Yelp
They try to gauge customer by charging 87 cents for hot sauce and even then they only give you a quarter of the container. Usually, the burritos were decent but this time I found there were more beans than anything else. I do not know if I will be going back here. The burrito quality can be hit and miss.
google avatar

Mohit M.

Yelp
Overall okay. Ordered the veggie burrito. It was good. Was more of a wrap than a burrito. Was expensive ($10.5) for the size. Got chips by the side for free - again not the real Mexican chips.
google avatar

Lindsay E.

Yelp
Maybe I shouldn't have gotten it since I seem to be the outlier among all of these great reviews, but I ordered the pork burrito and it was incredibly underwhelming- poor flavour and boring. My friend had the Azteca soup and he said it was very good. We ordered a large guacamole and chips and it came with about ¾ cup of great guacamole (the saving grace of our meals!) with between 7-8 chips included (you had to pay for more chips). Incredibly stingy...never had that at a Mexican restaurant. We would not recommend for burritos or good bang for your buck otherwise. Won't be coming back.
google avatar

Gabriela T.

Yelp
Great Mexican food. It is not tex mex so somethings we are used to eat don't have on the menu, like taco (like half moon shaped), but that doesn't mean it is less tasty. The price was excellent. We had a burrito and tostadas and split it. It was enough for two. They serve a free small portion of chips and salsa as you arrive.
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
If the patio is is the only good thing about a place, chances are I'll not be back. Adiós! Choriqueso $9 sounded good but they were out. Switched to Asada Taquitos $10.5 Large Steak Nachos $13.5 were both ok but nothing special. Ordered house margarita on the rocks, no salt. 8-10 minutes later, it showed up with salt. Joy. At least I had free wifi to make notes about this review while I was waiting. Ok food but crappy service. Free wifi. That's all this place is good for.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Great food! The service was amazing. My daughter and I loved it and will be back next time we visit!
google avatar

Shannon F.

Yelp
Energetic vibe and casual atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming service from all staff. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. Azteca soup and the beef lengua tacos stand out from my meal. I like that this isn't exactly what you'd expect to find in Yaletown - it's not super slick or fancy or hipster. I'll be back and will update my review after a few more visits!!!!
google avatar

Cheryl S.

Yelp
We are probably biased coming from Southern California but it was almost awful. I had the lunch special chicken enchilada and my hubby had tacos. The salsa was very bland and the portion was so small. Everything lacked flavor. We asked for some pico de gallo to hopefully liven things up a bit. Again, the portion was small and it really didn't help. Nope!

Yelp
Three of us popped into Salsa and Agave for a bite to eat. It did not start out well as the place was super packed and busy for such a small-sized restaurant. We waited for over half an hour to be seated. The staff were really nice and gave us each a free beer and shot for our troubles. We eventually sat at the bar and had a good time and great meal. I had to grab a Corona in addition to the fine tequila shots we all got. I had the combination rolled tacos featuring one ground beef, shredded chicken and potato filling. They were mighty tasty and delicious. I liked the sauce and soft guacamole. I only wish there was more of it to eat. My friends both got the enchiladas dish available in red and green sauces. It was the popular choice among the diners and was evidently quite good. I think the Salsa and Agave is a cool place in Yaletown for Mexican food. The staff is friendly and cheerful and while the whole experience could have been a disaster, it ended up being a great dining experience.

Yelp
Ordered takeout, and al pastor tacos were quite good. Soup was yummy. The service was excellent. Would recommend, particularly for takeout or casual lunch.

Yelp
Passed by this place so many times, been meaning to try it out. The service was a bit slow considering that the place was virtually empty. I think that the 3 1/2 star rating is pretty spot on. The food was pretty good, not awesome. My carne asada (8/10) was better than the vegi enchiladas.
google avatar

Tanvi S.

Yelp
Nice place with delicious Mexican food! I had three tacos, lengua, carnitas and pollo on their patio for lunch along with a blended margarita and I very much enjoyed it. The tortillas were soft and the meat was moist and juicy. They also offer salsa and chips on the house as a welcome, but the salsa was very mild. However, the sauce that came with the food was spicy and flavourful. They have a list of lunch specials on weekdays that combine soup with tacos or enchiladas. Service is attentive and fast. I did not check the ambience indoors as I was enjoying the sun in comfortable outdoor seating. The servers as well as many of their customers spoke Spanish, which is good sign! My bill was 16 dollars before tip, no regrets!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Decent Mexican food but pretty pricey. The best thing on the menu are the rolled tacos- potato filled rolled taco is my favorite. Enjoyed the single soft tacos too but most of their other stuff is standard fair. Nothing special to be honest.
google avatar

Raymond O.

Yelp
I hate using this phrase, but It is what it is. It's a quaint Mexican restaurant with an uncomplicated menu and easy on the pocket pricing. There's no fusion here. Just home-made tasting meals with the right amount of watered-down spicing. But the dishes are surprisingly tasty from burritos, tacos, wraps (burritos without the beans) as well as plate and combo specials. Service is good and fast. They bring your menu, take your order and remove your finished plates. It's really as simple and effective as that. Since the place is small, there is only just a few available tables and I think the most number of people they can squeeze in a rectangular table is a group of seven. And that's already from the kitchen counter to the glass window. With that I advise to definitely go off-hours or early dinner or you can wait like we did for 30 or more minutes. My favourite drink which I would love to strongly recommend, but may not be for everyone is the Horchata. In North America at least Horchata is synonymous with a rice-based ingredient combined with milk, sugar and spices the likes of cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and cocoa. The amount and strength depends on the maker, of course. This particular drink at Salsa and Agave has a good amount of sweetness and cinnamon spice. If you like both, then don't hesitate. Three stars because there's not much fanfare left once you've gone thru the whole shortlist. But overall, a real nice effort to introduce Mexican food in Downtown Vancouver.
google avatar

Kenneth N.

Yelp
A better place to hang than for the food, so spaciousness it is. Been here for what seem years, a good sign. Good corner locale for people watching. Nothing really memorable, had a burrito back in the summer. Probably not a fair comparison to Patron Tacos, which is more of a dining/bar experience so this is pretty casual. At least it's authentic. Friendly service. Metered parking all around.

Yelp
Fun. Quaint. Charming. I came to Salsa and Agave on my quest to find the best nachos in Vancouver. When I showed up they had happy hour here, so definitely pints of beer were cheap till 6. What's cool is they'll let you order 1 last beer before the happy hour price cut off, that you can drink AFTER you finish your current beer. I liked the nachos but sadly not the best I've ever had. WHY DID IT GET 4 STARS? Fantastic service Good happy hour price on beers Fun HOW COULD IT GET 5 STARS? While there nachos were good, they had very skimpy amounts of guacamole. Solid nachos, but not world class. Not quite enough cheese. No sour cream. BONUS: We asked about other bars in the area that had good drink specials, and they happily pointed out The New Oxford nearby. Wow. That's service.
google avatar

Larissa A.

Yelp
Ran out of guacamole??? At a Mexican restaurant!? Also, it's not even made fresh :( If they made fresh guacamole I could easily give 4+ stars. Great nachos, cheap food, quick service but come on....
google avatar

Stephy Y.

Yelp
Walked by on the weekend and noticed their tripe soup on the board. This attracted us to go in on a chilly evening. We got the soup and a quesadilla to share. I'd say the soup is uber delicious. I like that it's a bit spicy and had quite a bit of tripe. A large is good enough for two. It also comes with tortillas to dip but I rather have it with the quesadilla. The quesadilla on its own was not so tasty to me. I could do more with the melted cheese and flavour. My dining partner said otherwise and went crazy with the guac.

Yelp
This place is hovering between good and real good. I would like to give it 3.8 stars because it is no Sal y Limon but they do have quite a selection of blended and on the rocks Margs there that I love to see in a sit down Mexican place, so I get a Marg and they get a couple a extra points:") Had the Aztequita soup and a 1 Chicken and 1 chorizo taco. The soup was good but I found it not quite spicy enough. My server graciously brought me some habanero sauce and it provided just the right Kung fu kick I was looking for on a chilly night, 8/10. The tacos lacked presentation, just meat & shell with a teeny little side of some brown sauce (not sure what it was) cilantro, onion. Chicken-a little on the bland side 5.5/10, Chorizo-full flavoured succulent, 8/10. If you are anything like me you just can't have Mexican without a bevy. I had an on the rocks lime margarita, it was just okay. They didn't use rock salt on the rim just regular old table salt, and it didn't have that white bit of creamy frothiness on top either. It also did not taste like a double as the alcohol was hardly noticeable. Buuut, I am glad they do have Margaritas and many varieties, (did I mention I LOVE margaritas?) 7/10. The price was decent as it came to $18.60 for the Marg, 2 tacos, and the small soup. They have a deal on for a three course meal, including a drink for $20 so next time I will definitely be trying that out. The servers were friendly and the food came out quick. All in all a good experience and so I say Hasta luego Salsa y Agave cause I will return!

Yelp
The food was definitely not fresh. We ordered the most basic items - everything was either canned or bagged. When talking to the manager/owner about the food quality he decided that it was our fault that we didn't appreciate the food and that the numerous people inside the restaurant liked the food. He did take off certain items from our bill. Needless to say we won't be back

Yelp
Delicious food. Great experience in the place but I've gotten pickup from here several times and they mix up things a lot. I ordered in restaurant and twice they have included ingredients I requested be left out because of allergies. Once was a sauce that was poured on top and when I called about it I was told I could still eat it because it was on the outside of the burrito. Not how an allergy works... I was then told they would remake it if I would walk to pick it up which I did only to be questioned about my previous call. I then had to reexplain my allergy and was asked to wait while they made it. The only thing that saved them was the manager finding out after and apologizing and giving me free pop. Was disappointed he wasn't informed when I called to begin with but he did his best to salvage the situation.

Yelp
I am obsessed with Mexican. When I found this page reviewed and posted on the May 6th front page of Yelp I immediately had to put this on my bucket list. Sadly for some odd reason it took me 8 months to get here which is almost the equivalent to 8 years in my world. I love Mexican...how the f*ck did I allow this to go on for so long before finally visiting? I came in here well aware of the sub par reviews, however, Mexican is compatible with the diet I am on, therefore, it worked for me. When you have so many dietary restrictions, beggers can't be choosers. Not only was the weather bad outside, however, I was seeking some serious internal comfort (emotional). I used to know the cooking staff back when they had a place down on Howe street and but it took me almost 6 years to get here. Our waitress Marta was totally sweet and had the cutest accent ever. I had the 3 rolled and fried tacos which were awesome. They weren't over fried and a very modest price for the trio at $9.

Yelp
You get 2-3 chips with a table spoon of watery salsa. If you come in with anyone you both share the same little chips and salsa. The chicken enchiladas are basically a few dried chunks of chicken wrapped in a shell. No flavour at all The burritos are filled with rice and beans.....no cheese...no spicy flavour. Usually you can get smothered burritoes. These ones come as is. Dry. Filled with rice or beans. Go for the tacos...3 shells with dry meat and a tiny bowl of onions and cilantro on the side. Don't ask for extra as it will cost you. Their watery salsa costs more too. Absolutely no spice at all.

Yelp
Without a doubt, the BEST Mexican Restaurant in the lower mainland. I have gone here almost a dozen times, and it keeps getting better. First-timer's should try the Azteca Soup. It's amazing! I don't think I have ever tried anything so damn delicious. I could swim in an ocean of this soup and die of happiness. It's that good. You absolutely have to try it. Basically it's a tortilla soup (chipotle pepper, diced avocado, cheese and house sour cream) The way it is served is the best part. You basically put your spoon in the bowl, grab some of the melted cheese at the bottom, a bit of tortilla chips, and some avocado, stick it in your mouth, and you're in heaven. The avocado just melts in your mouth like butter. The base of the soup itself is not watery, but not thick either. It is the perfect balance of tomato-chipotle flavour, and you just want more and more of it. They're able to do take-out with this soup too, and it's just as good. Also, try their Margaritas. I usually go for a Lime Margarita on the rocks. You can get it blended if you like, but I find you get more out of it the way I order it. It's not a weak drink either, it's the perfect Margarita. I've gone to so many places and they manage to screw up Margarita's all the time. Either by making it way too watery/weak or too much ice. Salsa & Agave makes it the right way. Some of the other items on the menu I have yet to try, but so far, the tacos are good (4 for $10, best type is carnita), burritos, nachos, gringa (quesadilla) are all terrific! The restaurant has seating both inside and on their patio outside. Perfect for summer. It can get quite busy later on in the evenings, so I like going mid-afternoon. That way you don't have to worry about seating and you'll be served pretty fast. All the staff are very friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. I know a lot of other places are all the rage, like La Taqueria or Patron, but in my opinion, they are all overrated. Salsa & Agave wins every time.

Yelp
I'm coming to realize late January in Vancouver means rain and more rain. I might never see sunny skies till May. I miss California. There's no sunshine here, folks say "zed" instead of "z" and I can't find a decent burrito. Thank goodness for Salsa and Agave. I was about to give up on looking for good Mexican food after many failed attempts at other spots in the city. I stumbled upon Salsa and Agave while getting lost on the bus. I ordered the most expensive carne asada burrito ever in my life ($8 before taxes), but it was so worth it. Not as authentic as a burrito in the Mission District in San Francisco ($5 before taxes), but close enough. Salsa and Agave grilled the tortilla so that there were nice crispy bits to the outside. The staff were attentive and friendly. When I was there, I mostly heard Spanish being spoken by the other guest, which in my book is always a good sign as to how authentic the food actually is. The hortchata deserves 5 stars.

Yelp
Now I know where to get Mexican food if I ever develop an ulcer. My husband and I had a hankering for a burrito and despite knowing better we went to a place in Vancouver for one. On the positive side, the food was fresh and hot and they did not skimp on the protein. I had the shrimp burrito and it contained a plentiful supply of perfectly grilled meaty prawns. What it did not have was a whole lot of spice or heat. Our first clue of what to come came with the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was exceptionally mild. A fairer description of this burrito would be to simply call it a wrap. Not bad, but not what was advertised.

Yelp
My Mexican friend Javier has been raving about S&A for ages so I figured it was time that I give it a go. I mean, if he is the real thing (you should hear him speak Spanish...beautiful) then his love for S&A's authentic eats make it legit. I was definitely not let down by his high praise--Salsa and Agave lives up to the hype! Now, if you're expecting Yaletown swank then let's set the story straight: the space is simple. I'd go so far to call it a hole-in-the-wall but it's too polished for that title. It's a cute little find. If you come here for lunch on a weekday expect a packed space. Everyone and their (purse-sized) dog is here... okay, no dogs, but you get the idea. It's one busy joint. The service is great and pairs well with the complimentary fresh salsa and chips--I love to nibble while I wait. I also got my virgin strawberry margarita-on. Sweet treat on a Friday afternoon. Yay for the weekend! My meal was solid, healthy and satisfying and I left with a full and happy tummy. Thanks Javier! : )
