We came here on a Sunday evening without a reservation, it was busy but we were able to be seated right away. It was the table by the kitchen doors/ way to the toilets but we didn’t care. Service was great, our Canadian waitress was so friendly. The food was delicious. Good portion sizes. Would definitely come again.

The lunch tapas deal, which includes three dishes, is a great option and offers good value for money. It’s perfect if you want to try a variety of items without spending too much. The staff are welcoming and provide friendly service, which adds to the overall experience. While the food presentation is nice and portions are decent, the taste itself is just average—nothing particularly memorable, but still enjoyable enough for a casual lunch. It’s a solid choice if you’re nearby and looking for a convenient meal, though I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Nice food. Was cooked nicely had some good flavours. The mini chorizo was really good. As was the chicken skewers. Once the service got going it was good but took too long for someone to seat us and bring menus and drinks. Got the lunch time offer of 3 tapas for £20. It doesn’t include some of the items on the lunch time menu so that caught me out initially but made it work.

Our first time here and such a good experience. Louie was very helpful and friendly - good advice re portion sizes. We had the 3 plates offer plus a couple of very nice croquettes. Calamari, Chorizo (gorgeous) and Chicken skewers (very tasty) and my wife had a Santiago Tart for her pudding. Thank you from Marc and Joanne. Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved this restaurant! Each dish was excellent and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and checked in on us regularly, even though the restaurant was clearly busy.

Food was very nice, dishes came out in fits and starts with a long delay until the last dishes. The chorizo and fries egg were delightful. Polite staff who gave good advice on options

We had a great experience here! The portions are generous—definitely enough to leave you feeling full. Everything tasted fresh, and the food was absolutely delicious. Service was impressively fast, and the staff really take care of you, making sure you’re comfortable and satisfied. Highly recommend!

Visited this spot on a friend’s recommendation while in town from London. We ordered the mushroom risotto, pan-seared seabass, chargrilled fillet steak with crispy prawns, sizzling prawns in garlic chilli oil, and finished with a Basque cheesecake. The sizzling prawns were the highlight - packed with garlic, chilli, and that rich, prawn-infused oil. We were seriously wishing for some bread to mop up every last drop. Every dish was well-executed and full of flavour. Service was seamless. We were looked after by William, who was an absolute gem - warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly.

Yelp
Visited their location in Chester and would not recommend. Minuscule portions and way, way overpriced. the Salt house Deli Section- £19.95 a few slivers of meat and cheese no dressings and the same could be purchased from M&S for under £5. Despite booking well ahead we were ushered into the kitchen/serving are with on other table in that area occupied. First and last time. if you like tapas equating to small, expensive, dishes this is the place to go!

Yelp
Great little place to have dinner with lots of veggie and vegan options. Friendly wait staff and very reasonable prices all small plates to share the fare is absolutely delish.

Yelp
Salt House Tapas is known to be one of the best authentic Spanish tapa restaurants in Liverpool. Although it is located in a rather touristy area, I promise you that it is a local favorite and you won't be disappointed. Reservation is highly recommended and is a must on weekends and on weekdays in the summer peak seasons. PAN-FRIED PEPPERS: These were authentic Spanish padron peppers grown primarily in the northwestern region of Spain. The peppers were very fresh, sweet, and just barely spicy. They were pan-fried in olive oil the authentic way just until the skins started to blister and were then sprinkled with flakes of coarse sea salt. Just this dish alone proved that this is a legit Spanish tapa restaurant. SIZZLING PRAWNS: Served in a metal plate that was indeed sizzling, this dish immediately filled the air with the sweet aroma of the prawns cooked in olive oil with garlic and spices. The prawns were very fresh, large, and sumptuous. A hint of chili gave the prawns a nice finishing flavor. SEA BASS: The thinly sliced filets of the fish were perfectly grilled and were served in a "wild mushroom, chicken, and veal jus" according to the menu. The jus did have a very distinctive and rich flavor and I thought it enhanced the flavor of the sea bass in a creative way - fish in a meat sauce. The fish was delicious and without even a hint of fishiness, which was important for me! BEEF & PORK MEATBALLS: These were delicious meatballs that were soft, albeit a little dry. They were served in a spicy tomato sauce that gave the dish a moderate kick but was not overwhelming. The sauce tasted like it was made with fresh tomato puree and it accompanied the meatballs well. BRAISED OX CHEEKS: Ox cheeks are the most flavorful cut of beef perfect for stewing and this dish did not disappoint. Every bite of the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and richly flavorful. The piquillo pepper that accompanied the beef were authentic Spanish peppers from the Northern region of Spain. The peppers were mild in heat and mostly sweet, and I thought they went well with the dish, enhancing the natural flavors of the beef without being an over-powering element. 4.5 stars to be precise. Rounding up to 5 stars because of the overall experience and the restaurant's authenticity.

Yelp
Tasty food. The usual tapas choices: shrimps, meatballs, meat and cheese platters. Attentive service. Warm and fun atmosphere.

Yelp
The food was great-- I had the pork cheek and Malaga fried fish-- my only complaint is the squash purée with the pork cheek was a bit bland. I had a lovely white sangria, and my friends were more than happy with their pitcher of rose sangria. The service was iffy. We waited around a bit for the check. The prices are normal for tapas-- pricier but you're getting a fancier dish :) I'd probably go back, but as a traveler here, I'll probably explore more of the other restaurants first!

Yelp
Imagine lots of little plates with different tastes, textures and flavours that dance across the tongue. Some contain: Salted almonds Potato croquettes Sourdough toast with olive oil and balsamic Acorn-fed iberico ham Patatas bravas & Padron peppers sprinkled with sea-salt Other contain: Honeyed almonds Slices of manchego & mont enebro Beautifully seared scallops & crushed peas & Goats curd with apple, walnut and rocket salad Now imagine following these plates with: Warm churros and melted chocolate sauce & a lovely glass of wine or sherry Delivered by a fast and friendly waitress Resistance is futile, right?

Yelp
It was a long, lazy lunch in Liverpool, lovies. Sunday afternoon of a Bank Holiday Weekend. The sun is shining to the point where people don't understand it anymore. The kind of bright sun that makes even the darkest of buildings appear freshly painted...that kind of sun. It was glorious -- and thus, my husband was sun burned and we had 3 hours to kill before our train back to London, so we opted for a leisurely lunch at Salt House Tapas. Typically, aforementioned red-faced partner is very anti-tapas (small portions of regular food, at regular prices he says)...but something about the way Salt House looked made me want to give it a try. And -- I have to agree with him on this one, the food was just so-so and not priced to match quality, presentation or panache. Let's start with the good: DRINKS & olives & almonds. The cocktails we enjoyed were quite lovely. I basked in a bloody mary then moved to an elderflower fizz (both under 6 quid) and quite enjoyed the infamous olives (of which you can buy tins "to take away" as it were), the almonds also very nice. Then things sort of devolved. We did the "Pick 3" menu for roughly 11 quid each...and had an array of dishes. Jamon croquettas, lentil/pea salad with yogurt, chicken/lamb skewers, charcuteria, etc etc. I will say, it is the saddest looking little charcuteria board I ever did see. Protip Salt House, get smaller boards or bigger meats, otherwise ish just looks skimpy. The rest of the dishes were pretty so/so. The jamon croquettas being the standout, but fried ham, hello? When does this not stand out? Ahem. Our service was pretty good -- as it was a busy afternoon with the first sunny weekend maybe ever in Liverpool. No complaints there. The interior is quite nice, stylish in a rustic way, very comfortable and a nice spot right near all the shopping and within easy distance of Lime Street Station. AOK, indeed. AOK.

Yelp
I was so pleased we came across Salt House Tapas the other weekend - after wondering around the docks and being faced with pub lunches, pub lunches and more pub lunches, we didn't really know what to do with ourselves. Knowing we had to be ready to eat well that evening at 60 Hope Street, we didn't want anything too filling, and Salt House Tapas gave us the perfect meal. We were seated straight away and presented with our menus, offering sourdough and 3 plates of tapas for £10.95, which was just what we needed. The menu, although not vast, was very tempting and we couldn't wait to get stuck in. Pan roasted peppers, belly pork, cauliflower and chickpea tagine, chicken and chorizo skewers on flatbread, and ham croquettes. Yum. Everything comes as and when it's ready, meaning you always have that excitement related to your meal coming. My stand outs were the skewers, where the chicken had remained moist and the chorizo had none of the annoying chewiness usually associated with it, and the peppers, which weren't what I was expecting (in a good way!) It did take a while for the bill to come and plates to be cleared, hence the 4 stars. The tables also felt a little bit close together, which I think could be improved, considering the size of the place. Overall, a memorable experience and one I would be completely willing to revisit!

Yelp
You'll find delicious food and wine at Salt House Tapas. I'm always a fan of tapas menus anyway as there are often quite a few Vegetarian options, as was the case with this restaurant. The fried potatoes with bravas sauce are especially yummy. Salt House Tapas also have an extensive and reasonably priced wine list and the Rose Wine Sangria is gorgeous. I also love their stemless, tumbler style wine glasses which are a lovely touch. All in all a beautiful restaurant, serving delicious food which is definitely worth a visit if you're in Liverpool.

Yelp
The food here is exceptionally delicious, and the lunch special (choose three per person plus bread for £12) is a great deal. The charcuterie and other tapas favorites (patatas bravas, salt cod croquettes) were excellent, but probably the dish that most stood out was the confit squash with avocado and roquitto pepper pearls. Wonderful place for dinner, lunch, or an afternoon snack.

Yelp
The first time I visited the Salt House Tapas in Liverpool it was about a year ago with Dad. We had the tasty lunch menu and a glass of wine, and when we told Mum she was super jealous. Therefore it seemed natural to take her there this weekend for her Birthday / Mother's Day celebrations. Having booked in advance for a pre-theatre shindig we were able to dine from the lunch menu which is a tasty price of £10.90ish for 3 plates of tapas and some bread and oil mmm. With the four of us there, we picked 12 dishes including jamon croquettes, a charcuterie board, chorizo, belly pork and more. The plates arrive as they are made freshly, which some people don't like, however personally for tapas I think it's great as those small dishes are quite filling and it spreads your meal out over a really nice amount of time! I really like the atmosphere here, the food is tasty and especially for the lunch menu it is very reasonably priced. The waitress was very helpful, however the loos are far away down a cold and confusing corridor - of course there's worse things that could happen at a restaurant. If you're out in Liverpool and fancy something quick, tasty and easy to eat I would definitely recommend the Salt House Tapas.

Yelp
Dinner was delicious! We followed the recommendations on yelp and chose the Salt House Tapas but to late for reservations- however they kindly worked us in. I was a bit taken back by the image of ham with the hoof attached but soo glad we stayed. We sat upstairs and our server a young lady I think Julie sorry if I'm wrong was GREAT- asked her to order for me, she did great- the stand out orders were the Mushrooms and the Goat cheese

Yelp
Delicious tapas and attentive service in a great location in Liverpool. Phil and I ordered four dishes: (1) Sticky lamb shoulder, whipped feta, peas and shoots; (2) Char grilled fillet steak with polenta chips, wild mushrooms and tarragon; (3) Heritage radish salad with hummus; (4) roasted cauliflower, pomegranate yoghurt and dukkah. The radish salad came out first and I really loved the combination of crispy radish dipped in hummus. It was a cool and refreshing salad. After that, our grilled steak with polenta chips arrived. The steak was tender and juicy, but I've had much better polenta. I don't think one can go wrong with polenta, but I had the sense that these were not made fresh but rather purchased frozen and fried. The wild mushrooms were both lovely and earthy in flavour. The lamb shoulder was tender and delicious. The roasted cauliflower combined with the yoghurt and pomegranate made for a nice contrast. I would have preferred the cauliflower pieces to be cut into more manageable pieces so that they would have roasted more evenly, but it certainly was tasty. For desert we ordered the Claremont farm strawberries, basil mascarpone, honeycomb and dark chocolate. When it arrived, it was covered in some kind of graham cracker crumb. Since we had not read that on the menu, we asked the manager (concerned about any wheat in the cracker crumb since Phil is allergic). Before we could finish our sentence she apologized and said she would bring us another plate and that it had been incorrectly made. She said they had a new chef and he had made a mistake. She returned with the desert and it was lovely. The strawberries were so much sweeter than they are in California. The only complaint I have is that the grated chocolate on the top of the desert did not taste like dark chocolate, but rather milk chocolate. I may be wrong, but it did not give the contrast that I expected with the sweet strawberries. As far as service is concerned, it was an A+. I think our server was named Rick, but I am not entirely positive. He was very attentive and personable. The manager was also attentive and quick to remedy the problem with the desert. The only drawback was that we sat outside near the corner and were accosted by not one, but two men asking for spare change. Sitting outside was nice, but I would suggest not sitting so close to the foot traffic in such a busy location.

Yelp
Judging by the number of Tapas establishments cropping up in Liverpool, people seem to be keen about giving Spanish cuisine a try and the well located Salt House Tapas on the edge of the Liverpool One shopping centre is testament to this popularity. Unfortunately, it appears that this eatery might be a poorer relation to restaurants such as La Vina, Tapas Tapas or even the well-known national chain of La Tasca, which do offer better value in my opinion. Firstly, the sangria, while delicious, is served in an awkward glass jug that leads to inevitable spillage somehow. Secondly, the food is served when it is ready rather than at different times like a starter and main at the diner's behest. So, if like many people you're keen to sample some bread and olives to begin, you'll need to be quick as there is a good chance that you'll leave a dish going cold. Which may be to some people's taste but I'd wager not to everyone's. I think it would only be fair to point out that this does not make it a bad restaurant per se. Indeed, the service is very good and the waiters and waitresses will go out of their way to make your experience as good as it can be. Furthermore, the menu arguably has more to offer than the latest La Vina menu, but that smaller isn't lacking in quality and there are numerous offers that Salt House Tapas doesn't appear to provide. Although this review seems to be a bad one, it feels like this eatery is well worth giving a second chance and I'm happy to be proved wrong. Watch this space!

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, good location, good service but poor tapas. I must say that I was surprised with the food. Even the simple Tortilla was the worst that I have ever tasted. Sangria was average. Spanish food in UK is only this good I suppose.

Yelp
My first night in Liverpool and I'm hungry and not willing to walk too far under threatening skies, so I walk up here and look at the menu. Ummm, jamon... and I'm inside and seated and greeted by my server and menued. Wonderful bunch of small plates, and some interesting large plates. Now I'll admit, much more fun with others to share but one can order for ones self and have a great meal, which is what I did. Get the ham, the pricey one, it's so worth it. And ask your server about which wine with which food as you'll get some great advice and a very nice glass of something. Enjoy!

Yelp
Not the greatest tapas in the world, but you could do worse. My partner and I started with the Serrano ham with Manchego shavings: good quality ham, decent Manchego. The sauteed chicken was also just okay -- the sauce was full of flavor, but the chicken itself not very well incorporated with the sauce and rather bland. The baby back ribs were also disappointing: overcooked and dry. We also ordered the tomato salad, patatas bravas and tomato toast, all of which were good, but nothing extraordinary. The servers, though congenial, were a bit disorganized. It didn't seem that there was much communication between the servers, because a few minutes after one server had already taken our order, another one would come and ask if we were ready to order. Maybe we went on an off night -- both service and food seemed just perfunctory: just okay, but without a lot of the stronger flavors or even passion evocative of Spanish cooking. Clock in, clock out.

Yelp
Service is great! Food is good but would be better if it was less salty. I'm visiting from New York and the prices are great too. I arrived in time (before 6pm) to get the special of 3 tapas dishes for £11.95 (pumpkin risotto, pork belly and soft boiled egg over salad while Drinking a nice glass of white (not included in the special).

Yelp
This is, without a doubt, my favourite restaurant in the world. The food is to die for and the staff is so lovely. I go every time I am in Liverpool and you should too!

Yelp
Lovely wine. Lovely croquettes. Best tortilla I have ever tasted. Patatas Bravas were disappointingly poor by comparison

Yelp
I've only eaten in this restaurant a couple of times but have yet to be disappointed. The layout of the dinning area itself is quirky and cosy but small enough to generate a real buzz about the place without feeling crowded. The menu is simple yet brilliant, with enough choices to suit your taste buds but not enough to appear overwhelming. The food was delivered as it was ready and each dish was a taste sensation. The only slight down side was the size of the puddings but I suppose that was only because I could of eaten another portion of the rhubarb creme brûlée. A really great place to go out and eat in the heart of Liverpool.

Yelp
It was my first visit to Liverpool, and we'd only had 2 days there, and had spent the previous evening being brutalised by the incredibly cheap drinks on offer (we're from London, so it was a massive novelty being able to buy a round for a tenner). Anyway, due to a stonking hangover, I hadn't managed to eat much of my full English in the morning and had spent a considerable amount of time trying to work out what I could realistically manage for lunch when we stumbled across tapas. Small plates, a variety of options- perfect! The restaurant was rammed and we were lucky to be seated fairly promptly, which we took to be a good sign, as hopefully it was popular because they're good at their job. It was and they are. Food comes out as it's ready, which means everything is freshly made for you and I think it's a great way to serve food. It's like getting a new present every couple of minutes. It isn't the cheapest tapas I've ever had, but the plates are pretty substantial and 5 plates between 2 usually greedy people was more than enough, and I wish the special of Hake in Tomato, Caper and Anchovy sauce had come out earlier, because it was blooming delicious and it seemed criminal to send the plate back with morsels on it just because I was too full to finish it. I also highly recommend the salt beef with mustard mash. It was perfect. They also have a pretty well stocked bar and the staff are extremely chipper despite being incredibly busy and having to squeeze their way through tiny pathways of loud, munching customers. I think this is the best Tapas I have ever had and wish there was one comparable closer to home. Eat here.

Yelp
Food was interesting but could have been better. I wouldn't have the potato tortilla again. It is nothing like a real tortilla but more like a burnt pile of cold potatoes. I spent the rest of the evening sick from them. also the crust of the bread was very burnt... Not the kind you could scrape off but black and charred. Since that black part is known to contain carcinogens I don't think they should be serving it

Yelp
Had a great meal here on a Sunday night with lovely, friendly service. Definitely book up, as the place gets busy! My mom and I shared a carafe of sangria which was delicious and sweet but slightly less boozy than anticipated. Between four of us, we split an absolute load of dishes! I loved the charcuterie plate with serrano ham, shaved pork loin, chorizo, and salchichon served with bread and olive oil - they don't give you nearly enough bread, so ask for more right off the bat! All of the meats were just delicious, it's hard not to fill up on them. The olives were very nice, and the spicy toasted broad beans are truly toasted - like crispy little snacks, not chewy beans! Fun and different, but could be missed. What you can't miss is the Braised Salt Beef - I think that was everyone's favorite dish. Just impossibly tender meat, and I loved the the truffle mash underneath. The sautéed chorizo in honey was also amazing, sweet and spicy. The mussels are different every day, ours had fennel and chili and were delicious. I can't remember what else we had! I remember the avocado/butternut salad was skippable, don't waste your stomach space on veggies here. Oh, except the cauliflower cheese - it was so gooey and decadent, like macaroni and cheese without the pasta! I'm sure we got something else but alas, I can't remember it now. But my fiancé and I split the churros for dessert, as they're hard to find here, and I'm so glad we did. Hot and crispy cinnamon sugar dough dipped in rich, dark chocolate. Fab! Would return here anytime, it was a great experience!

Yelp
Went this past New Year's Eve and was pleasantly surprised. I generally avoid dining out New Year's Eve, or on any major holiday, as food and service tends to be rushed and substandard. Salt House Tapas defied that and more. I booked a large group (11) for their last seating that night. It was a set menu, served family style, with quite a nice variety of small plates for each course. Food was very good, as was the service. Never felt rushed. Will go back the next time I'm in Liverpool.

Yelp
Located in the Liverpool One shopping district of Liverpool. Friendly and helpful staff. The only issue I had with this establishment is that the tables are pretty close to each other. However it was a good excuse to have a bit of banter with the people sitting near my party. They have a good selection of wines and the Estrella on tap is always a winner. The food is very good- particular favorites are the sizzling cooked prawns and the roasted hake fillet. If your after a tasty tapas in Liverpool then this is your place.

Yelp
Been there for lunch a few times as they offer a deal including 3 tapas dishes and sour-dough.Was £7.95 when I last went although this has now been raised to £8.90...still worth it. Lovely surroundings, delicious food and reasonably priced.
