I had the most amazing time. I went to the lodge for the views, I got exactly that, and even more. The food was amazing, there's no bad food at the lodge. Game drives were great, managed to see lions, elephants, giraffes, antelopes and many other animals. Service was great generally, the staff were very professional, kind, friendly and concerned. Met Esther on the first day at Taita hills resort, she gave me a very warm welcome. At Saltlick I met Elsie with whom we interacted on all the days of my stay. She was very kind and warm, and made my stay an easy one. Gordian the same, he was very welcoming and was always making sure that I'm having a great time, especially during meals.

We had a wonderful two days at Salt Lick. The rooms are unique and clean with a very comfortable bed. We did have some minor bathroom issues but these didn’t impact our stay. Another thing to be aware of, if you are staying on the second floor, you need to navigate narrow spiral staircases with your luggage. The food (so much to choose from) was delicious with a huge variety and a mixture of traditional and western dishes. You must try the local African beer and the white wine (brought in from SA). The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome with a smile and ‘Jambo!’ A big thank you to Winnie who is friendly and funny and we loved chatting with. Be aware that viewing animals will be seasonal. As we stayed at the very beginning of the dry season, there was an abundance of food for the animals and therefore spotting many of them was difficult. In our two days we saw no animals by the Salt Lick waterhole. We saw one elephant, multiple giraffes and too many zebras and antelope to count out on the plains. Our driver/guide Michael from Southern Cross Safaris was very accomodating and spent many, many hours trying to find the elusive lion. Sadly, no success. Make sure you look out the window on the drive in. The many small villages you see are alive with activity and colour and lots of smiling little faces who wave at you as you pass.

Our stay at this lodge was absolutely perfect. The combination of nature and luxury made it an unforgettable experience. The restaurant offers stunning views that take your breath away, and the terrace is simply beautiful – the ideal spot to relax and soak it all in. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, especially Gordian, who served our table with warmth and professionalism. This place is a true gem – perfect for a peaceful getaway and recharging your energy. Highly recommended!

Cresencia and Elsa were the best. They made sure our every need was met and they did do with a smile. Our family felt at home. Ian from the bar was another spectacular bar server. He made sure we were taken care of. Victor at the front desk ensured we had accommodations for a birthday celebration also. Top notch service.

If you want relaxation, zero noise. Beautiful clean environment this is the place to go. The staff were amazing, social, warm and always there to assist. The food was good, lots of options to choose from especially for breakfast, egg stations, live pasta stations... The room was spacious and clean and just above the waterhole so you could hear birds chapping, see different animals.. Loved it

Super friendly staff that went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. All the staff were amazing with special mention to Cornelius who helped us at check in and with all our queries over our stay, Rose, Sylvia and Josiah in the restaurant who made sure we wanted for nothing, Philemon and Sammy who were our rangers that took us on game drives and Joseph, Julius, Paul and a lovely lady whose name I can’t spell, made our nature walk most enjoyable. Our room was clean and comfortable with a fabulous view of the water hole and from which we saw many animals. Great water pressure in the shower. The pool at Taita Hills is huge and has an incredible view over the park. They were very kind to give us a gift on our last day to thank us for our stay - unexpected and very appreciated.

Amazing experience at the Salt Lick Safari Lodge, worth spending several days to experience the heart of Kenya in the midst of their land. Welcoming people, open-hearted, and so polite. You will be served fresh local food, and whether you're a carnivore or a vegivore, you will find great dishes to satisfy you. Keeping amazing memories, and well done, Kenya, for being so welcoming.
