Salt Pepper Ketchup

Got to enjoy this wonderful and tasty sandwiches at a local brewery and they really hit the spot. Cheesesteak and Buffalo chicken I got to share with a friend and it was very filling and reasonable. The owner or whomever was helping me is friendly and brought the food to us.

I was recommended to check out Salt Pepper Ketchup, and it did not disappoint! I went with the Chop Cheese and added some fries, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and really hit the spot. Definitely a great place for a satisfying lunch. Highly recommend!

It was my first time trying this establishment I seen it on a tik tok the food looks so good. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it didn’t disappoint 10 out of 10. Definitely coming the back the customer is great as well I felt very welcome.

Ummm run don’t walk!!!! I loved their famous sandwich anddddd their Taylor ham, egg and cheese was DIVINE. I would love to see them expand but please don’t raise those prices lol. The owner was very nice, and offered great customer service. Can’t wait to have it again 👌🏽.

I had that “Jersey Meat” (Taylor ham or pork roll, whatever you call it) egg and cheese but I’m happy I listened to the owner here and also got the Chopped Cheese. This breakfast sandwich was stellar but the Chopped Cheese was very possibly the best one I’ve ever had. The Jersey meat had a hard sear to it, which I love. Plenty of meat, cheese, and eggs on a fresh hard (Kaiser) roll. I got it with just pepper. Jersey meat is salty enough on its own and I typically don’t rock ketchup with eggs. This would have been awesome with a splash of hot sauce though. Great sandwich. The chopped cheese was the hero here though. This was on a fresh jersey long roll and the seasoning in the meat was fantastic. Best seasoned ground beef I’ve probably ever had for a chopped cheese. Plenty of cheese, the roll, and the toppings were all very complimentary. The sauce is great on this as well. I got that extra drizzle overtop and I’m pumped I did. I had a side of it as well and trust me, I used it. Do not pass on this sandwich if you come here. The owner here is awesome, the food is great, plenty of parking on the streets around the business in a residential area, and the price is right. Salt Pepper Ketchup - Didn’t Suck!

Best chopped cheese I’ve ever had. So happy to finally try SPK at a pop up at Brix City Brewing. Sandwiches were perfectly assembled. Fries were crispy and well seasoned. Going to have to visit to restaurant to try more items on the menu.

Salt Pepper Ketchup is the best! Rey the owner and chef is the nicest and you can taste the love and passion that goes into his food which is off the charts delicious! SPK makes hungry people happy !

Sadly this place ain't it for me and it has been on my list for over a year. The guy behind counter when I walked in was very nice and had a big smile on his face when I asked him about a menu. The reason for the score and the reason I left without ordering anything was that it was filthy. Inside had a bare display case and you could see behind counters which looked like it was never cleaned. The outside and awning are in desperate need of a power washing. Presentation is everything. Some of the pics from users almost had me not even go tbh. I couldn't believe some of the very burnt French toast pictures. How can you serve that? Anyway best of luck to the place.

Great little spot for everything from breakfast, to late night munchies. I stopped by to try the breakfast for the first time, I got the standard Taylor ham egg and cheese with an added hash brown. No complaints here, soft roll, crispy and thin Taylor, super thin and crispy hash brown, and what looked like three eggs. Overall a top breakfast Sammy in North Jersey !

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It was my first time here and Ray went through the menu with me and offered recommendations. His Chopped Cheese is most popular, I had that with a side of fries. After going between the Philly Cheesesteak and Cuban I ended up getting the cuban for my dad. Because I'm commuting from Newark Ray gave me two cheese empanadas for the road. I will be back here.

Amazing little spot off the beaten path. His sandwiches and creations looked amazing on IG so I went and created my own breakfast sandwich and it was better than expected. Not only was it super delicious but it was massive and very well priced. Owner and cook is very kind. Can't wait to go back as I would love to try his chopped cheese.

Had been planning to come for a long time. Saw a food vlog where JL Jupiter had visited. Coming from the Essex County area, it's a decent drive. Tucked away in a very residential area. Small establishment, one person operated, which explains the limited hours. The chopped cheese was great. The building didn't give me restaurant vibes. Seemed more like an expanded food truck.

My mouth is still watering!! I got the chopped cheese for my husband & I and also for my son. Along with a side of garlic fries. The sandwich was delicious, soft delicious roll, with the chopped meat & cheese. Put it all together and you get one WOW of of the sandwich!! The Garlic fries were definitely garlicky and came with a garlic aioli dipping sauce. My son was in heaven. They were so good. Great crisp and taste. Service was quick and efficient I had to wait a bit because he was very busy, but it was worth the wait. There were about 4 tables in the place so I recommend getting there early if you're going to eat in, or if it's nice out finding a nice spot in Hawthorne to sit and eat. I was able to take home since I live so close. The owner was very friendly. They take cash or CC. I will be back and it's definitely worth a trip to try the food.

Amazing spot. 1) Got the Philly Cheesesteak & NYC Chopped Cheese. Both are 5/5, but NYC Chopped Cheese wins. 2) One of the few spot in NJ that has both the Philly Cheesesteak & NYC Chopped Cheese. Give both the sandwiches a shot.

Guys this was so good. First of all, whoever was working this morning was the nicest guy ever! Which automatically makes me want to come back. Everything on the menu looks insane. I got the chopped cheese breakfast sandwich and it was so filling and reasonably priced. I can't wait to come back and try different things!

Went here with friends dude was touching money moving things around making food and didn't change his gloves. We asked him hey man can you change your gloves instead of dude even lying and saying I was gonna or I got you don't worry. He said you're like my wife. your wife is clean and sanitary? Maybe she should be the one making the food and you should be the one who does the money handling. Weird reaction

I have followed Salt Pepper Ketchup's Instagram for well over a year now, and the day has finally had arrived --- I have finally tried one of their LEGENDARY SANDWICHES. Of all the sandwiches that looked entirely tempting to order (see menu pictures), I showed the owner a picture of the "SPK Central Cut Breakfast Sandwich", and in no minute at all, he began to make it fresh in front of me. It took about 5-6 minutes, but it was worth it because that sandwich looked exactly like the food he posted on social media. It really does look as good as it tastes. Crazy. What makes a "SPK Central Cut Breakfast Sandwich"? Well, brotha, it has - Crispy Applewood Bacon - Layers of Taylor Ham -Sausage -Hashbrown Patty -Eggs -Cheese This sandwich was LOADED. Overall price? $14.00. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Although I ate it at 9AM, this is BRUNCH. I am not going to eat until dinner time. Thanks SPK, you truly do live up to the hype!

Great food! Very tasty. Ordered, ate there and so good that I order more so that I could take something home. Definitely would go back , would love to try everything else on the menu. No complaints. Service was good! Food was good! And definitely a small business to check out and support ..

My husband said it looked like SPK was a one man show this weekend and that it was crazy busy. It's frustrating that this seems to be the new normal. We ordered 2 Simple But Impactful sandwiches and an order of fries. We didn't get our fries and our sandwiches didn't have the hash browns mentioned on the menu. We didn't want to call or go back, knowing that the one guy working would have to deal with this. I'm sure they would have made it right. What we did get was delicious. We'll definitely try to go back again, just hope they get the help they really need!

SALT, PEPPER, ATTITUDE..... I tried this place when they first opened and everything that I ordered was absolutely horrible. I ordered a waffle breakfast sandwich and it was over cooked and soggy. I also ordered a bagel with scallion cream cheese and it was one of the worst bagels I've ever tried. I Haven't really bothered to go back after the food was so bad. Decided to give it one last chance because I really wanted a nice chicken wrap today. I noticed that they had good reviews but also a lot of bad. I now totally understand what the people on here meant about their negative feelings. On google as well. Mostly about the Awful attitude the owner has. Extremely fake because when I went in there he was all smiles and a "nice guy" but after when I called about why I was upset he was not nice at all. Not a class act. Instead of admitting that something could have been off or maybe he just really didn't want to serve a fair amount of chicken he made it all my fault. He said he serves a specific amount on everybody's. If this were the case no one would go back and they would all be starving. I ordered a plain wrap with grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato and I added avocado. I also said I didn't want the fries out of my own preference. I noticed that the prices on his website are completely different then the ones he charges people. Not sure why he won't just update that, it's misleading. On other reviews he told people that prices are subject to change, yes we get that as customers but come on, update your menu. He charged me extra for the avocado (which I understand) he also charged me for sauce (his other wraps come with sauce so I'm not sure why he needed to change me for it he didn't even tell me it was extra). I told him how my wrap had a few tiny pieces of chicken in it. It was extremely disappointing. All I wanted him to do was admit fault or offer to make it right. He was very condescending and rude to me. I told him how I understood the costs of things rising, but I also as a customer deserve to get a decent sandwich for my money. He said I could come back in to get a refund and I told him I won't be returning and that he could just refund my card himself. I don't want to go back in there ever. I guess my message to the owner is this: Think before you speak, your representing your business, your brand. Kindness goes way further with people then needing to be right about something. I support many small businesses in the area and a lot do them are family owned and their super nice and respectful. You won't find that here. Maybe if the owner would readjust his attitude and drop the ego he would make people happy and they would return. I will never be going back there. When people ask me about this place I will be telling them to pass, there's MANY MANY other better places all over this small town!

Surprised I haven't been to this local joint yet, so I stopped in! Ambiance: Corner store breakfast/lunch spot. Had a couple tables inside, but looked like it was mainly order to-go. Parking on the side streets to pick up, waited 15 minutes for the order after placing it at the counter. Did not seem too busy for a December Saturday at 2. Price: Seemed about right, especially with food pricing being a bit on the higher side. Ordered: BLT and Chicken Sandwich on a Sub Pros: The food tasted great and the service was nice. Cons: The deli case was empty and the place seemed pretty bare and un-lively. Could just be the way the world is now, but would be nice to see a full display case and some more decor. For a relatively new spot it didn't feel too new. I also thought the BLT was a triple decker but was only a double. Overall: Not a bad spot for a bite to eat, definitely would come back, but I don't think the potential for this place has taken off yet.

Been wanting to check out this place for a while and it did not disappoint!!! I got the chopped cheese and it was fantastic. The bread was fresh and soft but had enough substance to keep the ingredients together. The meat, veggies, cheese and sauce all were fresh and blended together deliciously. Definitely a big sandwich, too! Perfect ratio of meat-to-bread! The owner is also extremely nice and accomodating and the place is clean! I will definitely be back to try more menu items!

I've been trying to get to Salt Pepper Ketchup for a while now and was finally able to make it there this past weekend. My boyfriend & I ordered some breakfast sandwiches to go from here. I got the Simple But Impactful sandwich, which was as the name suggests. I was sold when I saw they put hash browns on a sandwich. My only wish was that it came with sliced avocado on it, instead of avocado spread. My boyfriend ordered the Chopped Cheese Breakfast Sandwich and OH. MY. GOD. Never before have I had chopped cheese, frankly I'm not even quite sure what it is, but whatever this was, was DELICIOUS. The meat was well seasoned and sooooo flavorful. I kept stealing bites of his sandwich. The gentleman working behind the counter was friendly & informative. He took the time to tell us about the menu and what the popular items are, and just by the way he spoke about it, you could really tell that he's proud of what they're doing here. Apparently there are even some secret menu items, but you didn't hear that from me. Their Monte Cristo is made with french toast as the bread for this sandwich. They also have a sandwich where they use waffles in place of bread & another sandwich where they use plantains instead of bread too. Love the creativity here. We live in town and are definitely can't wait to come back and try some more items from their menu!

First time here! I tried the Chopped Cheese sandwich and some Cheese fries. I thought everything was great but my cardiologist would not be very happy with me. Hey, everything in moderation! This place is less than 2 miles from my house, so this could be dangerous. Of course, if I WALK ... at least I'll burn some calories on my way to cheese heaven. Yummmmmmm. I'll be back to try something cheesier. Note; Only two small tables inside so it's definitely more of a take-out kind of place.

This guy is a trip. He posted this asking for his friends to write good reviews on here and took it down when all of the comments were roasting him. This was posted 5 hours ago but if you go to his Instagram it's gone now. My girlfriend and I have been overcharged multiple times for absolutely no reason and we can identify with this person's issues. The last few reviews on here that are positive are from his personal friends that he's begging on social media. Im an executive chef. You need to have a little more integrity and respect for your customers. Update your menu prices to reflect your thievery. Don't come to this place - ever.

Ordered at the Counter and everything was brought to the table. Chopped Cheese Breakfast Sandwich. Two Hasbrown Patties. Mango Juice. And Boston Creme Cake. Price Point was as expected, affordable. Portions were solid. Flavors hit the spot. Could easily become a regular spot. Hopefully they're getting a foothold on the market and maybe in time improve on the interior decor for dining in. I have been wanting to try this place out for a while based on their drool worthy pics on Instagram and today I was finally in the area! Everything on their menu sounds so good and the owner/cook was ready with recommendations and told me what the best sellers are. He was so nice and it is people like him I'm happy to give my business to. I ordered the tres golpes sliders and the Reynoso waffle sandwich as well as the yuca fries. Oh my yum. The star was definitely the tres golpes sliders which is essentially a fried egg, fried cheese, and fried salami with a special sauce on a long roll that is cut in 3. Everything was delicious and I look forward to eating here again so I can try something else on the menu.

All their items are great! The food is always fresh, always ready when said and the workers always have a smile on their faces and are extremely friendly! They also have a specials board from time to time outside and every Is just delicious. Love coming here and definitely recommend!

I went on a Friday morning to try SPK for the first time. I had a great overall experience! SPK had great curb-appeal. The black brick with grey and red ascents not only made the spot modern and hip but it catches your eye while driving down this local side street. Inside was bright and modern and I was greeted by the owners whom were very nice and personable. I chose to order the Tres Golpes sliders which is fried salami , fried cheese , and a fried egg. They asked if I wanted to add hash browns to the sliders and at this point I felt all or nothing so I gave in . The Tres Golpes was packed with flavor and was enough food for 2 people at such a good price. The only problem is I wasn't sure if I was going to be in a food coma all day or have a heart attack hahaha Looking forward to going back! ( ps I didn't have to eat the rest of the day until 7:30pm haha)

Made online order. Food was prepared as requested. No errors. I picked it up and guy working super friendly. Sandwiches were really good. Wish the chic one came with fries but the house sauce on it was so good. My hung-over 22 yrs gives it the seal of approval for Sunday scaries lmao (great hangover food) will be coming back!

The food is great! I drive 45 mins away from my house just to have the food here! Always a pleasurable experience. He is a one man show there! Takes orders in person, over the phone, via grub hub or other online order apps. And the man still manages to be polite and respectful. Everyone that goes there is always greeted with appreciation for their business which keeps me going back besides the food being great! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK SIR! #respect

Love this place for a hangover breakfast. Haven't tried any of their sandwiches, the crew I work with swears by the chopped cheese. Be ready to order, the place gets busy and once you have the food you'll know why it stays busy.

It was my first time trying out this place. The breakfast burger was on the side of too well done, so I wasn't able to enjoy it. However, if the restaurant wouldn't have over cooked the burger, the sauce and other components were great. The tres golpes sliders were good, those would be a must try. Not pictured, the chicken & waffle. I was able to try this item and it was good. The chicken was nice and crispy on the outside.

I work locally in Hawthorne and found this little gem tucked away on a side street. Ray is awesome as is his food. Not your typical deli or shop in general it is a specialty shop. My favorite dish to order is the chopped cheese fries but Ray offers a bunch of items that aren't on the small menu. This is local as local business gets. Ray is there by himself working the phone the grill everything. He always has a smile on and will chat it up with you but you have to understand he is alone he needs to answer the phone he has other orders besides yours. I recommend if you want something different give him a try. Always ask about specials and off menu items. He makes some great wings for football season and some great Dominican dishes.

Stopped here randomly for something quick to eat after hiking in Ramapo and WOW - it did not disappoint. Amazing food and a friendly owner. From the Cuban sandwich, to the beef patacon, yuca fries and empanadas - everything was on point. Hands down, 10/10. If you're in the area, definitely give it a try. Promise you won't regret it!

The food is top notch. I've lived all over the country and nothing compares to this man's breakfast sandwich, no question best I've ever had, and the crazy thing is it's the same level each time I have it. Unbelievable and a great guy!
