I started my vacation off at The Reeds Spa. I was greeted and taken to the locker room where I enjoyed the steam room before heading to the Brine Lounge to relax before my treatment (80 min deep tissue). Both were lovely and I was excited for my massage. However, I left disappointed. My masseuse didn’t touch my arms or hands. I didn’t say to omit any areas, so I expected with 80 min to get some attention to all areas. Then, at checkout, the desk asked if I wanted to include gratuity on the card, which I did, but then the total was over $100 more than what I was expecting. After leaving and looking at the receipt, gratuity was already added on my bill and my (generous) tip was added on top! So I gave a 40+% tip on a less than stellar massage. I’m very disappointed in how this was handled. I believe there should be a “(blank) percent is already included on the bill, would you like to add anything?” Where I’m then happy to add more if necessary or wanted, but to not communicate that, then get an extra 20% on top left a very bad taste in my mouth.
