Food was absolutely Fantastic!! Service was great. Food reads like a high end restaurant but interior is more laid back. Bisque, OG Grille, Voodoo Scallops and Swordfish special were delicious. Will definitely be back and Highly recommend if you are looking for a great food and a taste bud experience. Did not have but their 7layer Chocolate cake is a feast for 3. ☺️

Salt 64 is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Truly unforgettable. Every single dish was perfection, and I can honestly say it was some of the best food of my life. We arrived before our reservation and sat at the bar — the bartenders were happy, cheerful, and made us feel welcome right away. Drinks were strong, balanced, and just plain good, setting the tone for the night. The crab fritters were crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside — absolute heaven. The shrimp pasta was rich, balanced, and bursting with flavor, the kind of dish you want to savor slowly because you don’t want it to end. The tiny lobster tails? To die for. Sweet, buttery, perfectly cooked — I could have eaten them all night. And don’t skip the crack toast — it’s not just a gimmick name, it’s really damn good food. On top of the food, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and everything felt crafted with care. This is the kind of place that reminds you why going out to eat can be an experience, not just a meal.

This was the first restaurant we've been to in a beach town that has actually been worth going to. The food, the service, the drinks, the atmosphere--all amazing and very much worth the price. For drinks, I ordered the Shake Your Tree, which came with a peach ring garnish, and my boyfriend ordered the Purple Haze. Both drinks were very good but the aftertaste of the Purple Haze is what stood out to me. To start we ordered the Caesar salad and the sunset bisque, and wow. The salad was big enough for us to share and came with a fried cheese "patty." We savored the bisque until the end of our meal--the best seafood bisque I've ever had. I got the ribs with potato cakes and my boyfriend got the NY strip with mashed potatoes. They give you two racks of fall off the bone ribs and the NY strip was THICCCK. The potato cakes were very good but the mashed potatoes are the way to go. The only gripe I have is that it was pretty loud in there but it was a full house. You get what you pay for and its worth every penny. We will definitely be coming back next time we're in town.

Went for my second time last night. I ordered the ribs and grits platter. The food was delicious. The ribs were very well flavored and the meat was falling off the bone. The grits were a good side dish with the ribs. My girlfriend ordered the Herb roasted chicken dish. She was excited to eat that dish again since she ordered it the first time we visited. Unfortunately she wasn't a impressed as i was. Her chicken was dry and not well seasoned. On another positive note, our server was very good. Even though it was really busy when we arrived she was very receptive to our needs and provided great service. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we ordered the chocolate 7 layer cake, which was delicious!

One of Oak Island's most popular dining spots. Very attentive and friendly service. The seafood dishes were perfectly prepared and very tasty. Fresh ingredients make for fresh dishes. Good wine selections.

Salt64 is great! Salt64 is a true standout and easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the Oak Island are. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance of stylish and comfortable, setting the tone for a fun and memorable evening. The menu offers a thoughtful but nice variety and every dish we tried was prepared with care and presented beautifully. The flavors were balanced and fresh, making it clear that quality ingredients are a priority here, which we love! We ordered a mix of appetizers, entrées, and cocktails, and each one was consistently excellent. The drinks were creative without being overdone and the food portions were generous but still flavorful. Our server was sweet, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu which always helps! He really elevated the overall experience. What stood out most is how Salt64 manages to deliver on every front: ambiance, service, and cuisine… making it more than just a meal, but an experience worth repeating. It’s the kind of place that works equally well for a date night, a celebratory dinner, or simply treating yourself to a great evening out! I look forward to coming back and trying even more of the menu next time. Thanks for everything! ❤️❤️❤️

Google
Everyone at Salt made our NYE dinner for a large party so memorable! Even with a late dinner reservation everyone from the hostess to the wait staff and bartenders had positive energy and all smiles in their interactions! Made me feel like the employees enjoyed their job and were a well managed team! The food was spectacular and the band that took us into the new year was so good!! Can’t say enough good things about this place - will definitely be back!!

Yelp
This was an exceptional evening from start to finish! The day was our 25th wedding anniversary and we were in Oak Island for a week to celebrate. We decided to reserve a table at Salt 64 well in advance to eat there on our actual anniversary. From the moment we walked into Salt 64, which looks rather unassuming from the street, we were awestruck by the beautiful ambiance, comfortable seating, and friendliness of each staff person. The hostess seated us promptly, our server was attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Our meal started with a delicious dirty martini for me and a craft beer for my husband. Because I am a freak for artichokes, I started with the grilled artichokes -- WHATTTT?? They were so yummy that I'm not sure I can order them anywhere else ever again. My husband chose a beet salad for his starter, which was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. We didn't talk much during our appetizers -- too busy enjoying this deliciousness. For our entrees, I chose the 8 oz filet, which was prepared exactly to my preference of medium-rare. The filet was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and plated beautifully with garlic mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the fish-of-the-day, which was flaky, light and flavorful. We both enjoyed every single bite and brought home what we couldn't finish. Not to detract from the appetizers and entrees, but the stars of the show were the carrot cake and key lime pie - two items our hostess and server warned us we should not miss! Oh, My, Gosh!!! These desserts were UNBELIEVABLE!! So beautiful, so delicious and fresh, we were blown away! We had a few bites of each, brought the rest back to our rental house, and did our best to share them with each other the following day. I only wish we had reserved more than one evening there! Don't miss this restaurant if you're in Oak Island.

Yelp
We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Salt64, and it was absolutely wonderful! The crack toast appetizer was unbelievably delicious--definitely a must-try. We both had the NY strip, cooked perfectly, and the salad was fresh with a very generous portion. The service was impeccable and really made the evening feel special. If you're looking for an upscale dinner spot for a special occasion while visiting Oak Island, I highly recommend Salt64.

Yelp
We came to Salt 64 for my husband's birthday with his aunt and uncle who are local to the area! We had a spectacular meal and the ambiance was cozy and intimate. Our server was very friendly and the food was delicious! Their menu is diverse and really well executed! From salad to seafood to burgers, all are excellent choices! Also, make sure to leave room for dessert because the portions are HUGE!

Yelp
Located along Main Street in a resort town with very limited parking. They are super busy! If you go, you will find out why!! You yourself will come back over and over again. They do take reservations online. Otherwise you will be waiting (and it's worth every second). There are dining areas, a bar area with high tops, and a 6 seat bar. Had to go on waitlist for bar area. Sat around for 5 minutes and saw that there were 2 stools that came open so jumped in them. Bar area is super small - especially if on end where servers come through. The bartender is extremely busy, but took our orders quickly. Water glasses didn't go empty. He was very attentive and friendly. Seemed as if the air was not working in that area and there was a massive fan circulating some air. They have a lovely craft cocktail menu, as well as a fully stocked bar with all the things. We ordered Paradise (get this) and a Nobody's Fool (skip this- not very good). Anyone can find something on the drink menu here. They even have mocktails. Paradise was surprisingly delicious. We ordered apps instead of a full blown meal. We ordered a side of truffle fries (recommend - even though our order was full of tiny fries - still tasty ), French Onion soup (highly recommend - absolutely delicious), wings (don't leave without ordering them - grilled - it's wizardry), and something called Sweet Spicy - pork belly thing - can't remember name, but will remember the flavor! There wasn't one thing put in front of us that wasn't good. Carter, a very friendly manager stopped by to talk and make sure all was well. Very good customer service. We were stuffed, but were told about the key lime pie being house made. Ordered it to go. There are no words. No notes. Just pure silence once you taste this masterpiece. The creaminess of the key lime filling with the crunchy graham and the perfect meringue - to die for. Do not - I REPEAT - do not leave without ordering a slice or two (even if you have to take it to go). This should be featured on some show or taken down to Key West where it would give many places a run for their money. WOWZER!!! As a matter of fact, even if you can't eat at this amazing place, just stop in and order a piece to go! You too will sing like a canary about this delight. The prices you pay for what you get are beyond reasonable! The portions and quality are just fabulous. You can tell that they truly value your experience with them and that they pour their hearts into concocting delicious food. Don't miss out. We will be back.

Yelp
Well I can't talk about the food since we didn't make it that far, but I will tell you our experience. We've been wanting to try this place because of the reviews but it always seemed to be closed when we tried to go. Anyway, we finally decided to go Friday. It's off season and it was early for us (around 5:30) so we didn't think it would be too crowded or a long wait. The parking area was crowded but from what I could see there were empty tables. The Hostess asked if we had a reservation, we said no, how long is the wait? Her face said how dare you and her mouth said it's gonna be "a minute". Ok, what's a minute? Ballpark? She shrugs shoulders and I say under or over an hour? She says could be... WTH? We took the subtle "hint" that they didn't want our business and left. Maybe because we weren't in suits and dresses? Weird.

Yelp
Ambiance is fantastic. The menu is well thought out and not overly busy. They have some fun drink items. The real star and why I keep going back,is the chefs nightly special. Always delicious and different everyday.

Yelp
My father in law lives at Holden beach and this was our first time visiting Salt64 on Oak Island for an early dinner date after a long day in the sun, and it absolutely hit the spot. I had seen a few reviews mentioning that the portions didn't match the prices, but I have to disagree. Maybe living outside of DC has skewed my perspective, but I found the price points very fair--especially given the quality of the food and ambiance. The highlights of the meal started right away with the artichoke and mini lobster tail appetizers, both fresh and flavorful. For entrées, we tried the special grouper with Asian slaw, as well as a Mediterranean-inspired shrimp dish with olives, feta, and spinach--both were perfectly balanced and delicious. And then came dessert... holy moly. The bread pudding and key lime pie were so good that we ended up ordering the exact same desserts to go. Drinks were also excellent: we had the espresso martini, the pear/lemon martini, and the passion drink with tequila. I really appreciated how balanced they were--especially the passion drink. I can't stand overly sweet cocktails, and this one was smooth and refreshing (if you like sweeter drinks, you might want to pick something else). Overall, this was one of the best meals we've had on Oak Island, and we'll definitely be back. Reservations are a must. You can do that through Yelp!

Yelp
Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. 5-star food 5-star service 5-star atmosphere 5-star smiles Clearly everyone there we have ever experienced seems to love working there

Yelp
Best in class! Our server Anthony was excellent along with the food & menu. Never disappoints. It is a little Loud, but we do t mind at all a room of laughter and happy people.

Yelp
This was my third time dining here. It's the best place in the area and when I visit my family it's where we like to go. A reservation is a must, because the place is packed. There's a wide variety of foods and no one will leave hungry as the portions are quite generous. I shared a salad and then had a pasta dish. Everything was great, including the service.

Yelp
Coming to Salt 64 was a great experience. The ambiance of this restaurant is clean and sophisticated. Great service, delicious drinks and food. The special was an amazing piece of african pompano that was freshly cut a few hours before. The sauce was delicious and it was topped with fried oysters. The deserts were to die for!!! I would come back to this place again.

Yelp
Five stars across the board the service was excellent from the moment we walked in . This is a beautiful restaurant, dark and cozy with a quaint little bar in the back Our cocktails were delicious and the food was outstanding ! Do yourself a favor and reserve a table here the next time you're in Oak Island, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Fresh and delicious! Great friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. Love our experience at Salt 64! Will definitely make it a must in our next visit. My daughter and I shared a salmon, soup and crab cakes.

Yelp
Visited again for dinner in middle of week. Had a reservation and was seated promptly. Our waitress, Julie, was with us immediately to ask for a drink request and go over day specials. I started with Seafood Bisque soup which taste good and cream but wish it was a little thicker. My wife ordered Fried Flounder that came with a small portion of slaw, side of tarter sauce and a generous portion of chunked creamy mash potatoes. I ordered Crusted Salmon over a bed of risotto/arugula. The portions are good size and we took at least a third of our meal home. I feel the meal values are good. We always seem to order a fish when we dine here.

Yelp
Went to Salt 64 for a light dinner. We are not huge eaters but enjoy good food. Our waiter started out very pleasant, explaining all the wonderful things on the menu, their specials, the cocktails, etc. When he returned to take our order he made it abundantly clear he wasn't happy with our choices. I only wanted a cup of the seafood bisque and Mac n cheese and no cocktails just water and my friend had ordered the French onion soup and the sauted veggies and no cocktail. The waiters demeanour changed for the worst. Our food was delivered by another server which was fine. She was very pleasant. We ate our dinner and drank our water and waited for the waiter to return. When he finally did return, he only asked if he could clear our plates. He took the plates and returned with more water. A while later he asks if we are interest in dessert and we passed. He then asked if we wanted the check. He returns with the check. The food was outstanding but the attitude change in our waiter when we didn't order appetizers, cocktails and a full dinner was unacceptable. We will not be returning for that reason alone.

Yelp
Another trip to an amazing restaurant. The server was very nice and willing to tell us about the menu. The food was as good as we remembered from before. Drinks were strong but delicious. Definitely an awesome place to visit while in oak island
google avatar

Will P.

Yelp
The food was amazing! The service was top notch. The atmosphere was beyond friendly. Perfect beach getaway for date night! We tried the Ill Tempered Lobster Tails, Coastal Sunset Bisque, NY Strip, & Seared Tuna. Everything was beyond delicious! We ordered a 2nd helping of the tails as they were so good! Make reservations, but even still they worked us in faster than anticipated.
google avatar

Laurel D.

Yelp
We had a great dinner at Salt 64. Started with the Crack Toast 10/10 I probably could've eaten the entire tray. Moscow Mules are really good too. Service was good, we had a very nice waitress who was attentive and refilled water glasses frequently. Ambiance is not the best, it's very loud so if you are hoping for a quiet intimate spot, this may not be your best option. The food was absolutely delicious. Scallops, shrimp and grits, salmon and the basil chicken with a Mediterranean salad.
google avatar

Keven K.

Yelp
A terrific "nice evening out while on vacation" experience. If you're like us we like to.plan one nice, dress up a bit evening on vacation. I had heard about Salt64 a month before our trip reading online news about the island. We made a reservation 4 weeks ahead of our trip. Salt is one of the few OKI places that takes reservations. Both our server and the food were superb! The portions were very generous and I thought prices reasonable for a nice place like Salt. Our table had: wing appetizer, onion soup, and caprese salad to start. Main courses were ribs (incredible, fall off bone 2 slabs), shrimp pasta, and the chicken and waffles. Lots of shrimp in the pasta, 2 huge chicken pieces with the waffle. We took dessert home: chocolate cake and NY cheesecake. Chocolate cake was huge easily serves 3. Taste reminded me of Costco chocolate cake. Salt 64 worth a special night out when you are in OKI.

Yelp
Stellar food and service, best cuisine on Iak Island! I would certainly recommend to anyone!

Constance B.

Yelp
Food is amazing and the staff is super friendly! One of our favorite dining spots! Love the artichoke app!

Yelp
One word: PHENOMENAL! This restaurant was truly wonderful and that was the best meal I've had over the last few months for sure. We were there early for our reservation and the host was kind enough to sit us early. The server was great and answered all our questions. The environment is darker which allows for a higher-end atmosphere, but it can get loud in the restaurant during peak hours. We started with the lobster tail appetizer (sorry no photo) and it was very tasty. All of our entrees were delicious and couldn't have imagined them tasting any better. The 7-layer cake is massive (big enough for 4-5 people) but goodness it is tasty! 100% worth checking out for a nice night out during a beach trip!
google avatar

Jim H.

Yelp
Great wine list! Delicious entrees and sides! Attentive servers! Make sure you save room for dessert! Will return again soon!

Yelp
I have been to this restaurant 6-7 times. Their appetizers and specials are great! Their seafood dishes - voodoo scallops- also good. Desserts - nice! Steaks.... Meh . I have tried both the NY Strip and the Filet. Both were well short of decent. If I order a 8 ounce filet it should be well over 2.5" high, not 1" variation of cooking and mediocre. I'll keep going, but never ordering steaks again.

Kim B.

Yelp
I don't know where to start. It was so loud in the dining room, It sounded like we were at a boxing match! We couldn't talk to one another. It was packed inside. It took One and a half hours for our food to arrive. The manager stopped by our table and asked if we were getting desert- we told her we hadn't even gotten our main course! She apologized for the loudness and told us they were going to be doing renovations soon. Then, when our food finally arrived, it looked as if it spent an hour under a heat lamp! My potatoes were hard and the avocado in my sister's entree were browned! My husband's fish was dried out and his creamed spinach was as hot as molten lava! It was so bad. We were disappointed, since we read how good Salt64 was supposed to be. I don't think we will ever go back.

Michael M.

Yelp
I had a reservation here on Monday night 10/13 for a party of four and was very busy. Our total bill was almost $200 before tip. After being seated it took at least ten minutes maybe longer before our server stopped by to say I'll be with you. Then it took a little while before he returned. So, once he returned we ordered everything. The other three in my party said their food was good. However, I ordered a steak medium and everyone was laughing when it arrived because it looked almost burnt. Not a good steak. Our drinks never got refilled and finally had to flag down a different waiter to get a refill. Very bad service.
google avatar

Gery R.

Yelp
Great time The staff was efficient and friendly knowing the menu well. The food was very good with good portions and presentation. The prices were fair. The ambiance was good but a little loud, forgiven as it was packed.
google avatar

Brooklyn W.

Yelp
I went with my girls to this restaurant for the first time, and it was amazing. Our server, Tia, was so helpful and literally made no mistakes all night and was so friendly. The staff made great suggestions for our meal and was able to accommodate us last minute, although usually they need reservations. The environment was welcoming and warm. I appreciate it. The food quality was spectacular and came out in a very timely manner. For the price it is so worth it and I will definitely come back again. Thanks Tia you're awesome.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service, robust menu choices, fantastic food, numerous specials. Extremely attentive wait staff.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant on our girls' vacation. The service at Salt 64 was amazing and very quick, our waitress was so kind and talkative which we love! When you walk through the door, even the hostesses are so inviting. Everything we ate was so delicious and served beautifully! When I come back to Oak Island, I will 100% be visiting again!

David W.

Yelp
Great food great service look forward to going back and having the swimp and grits.Like sitting in area away from bar but all seats are fine

Yelp
Outstanding dinner! Service was impeccable! Food was fabulous! JT took excellent care of us, timing was perfect. We had the crab fritters and the parma grana crusted breast of chicken. I will be back!

Russ C.

Yelp
Incredible food & service! Wonderful restaurant, we highly recommend. They just expanded and now have more seating :)

Lisa H.

Yelp
We have been coming to Oak Island for the last 14 years and we had heard that this place was an upscale restaurant. It didn't disappoint. Daniel our server was awesome along with everyone else that we came across. We got 2 appetizers, the little lobster tails and the fried green tomatoes. The lobster tails were delicious, but the tomatoes were bland even with the corn and crab on top. I poured the remoulade that was served with the lobster tails on the tomatoes it was awesome! I got the seared tuna which was cooked perfectly, but it came with some wasabi and a hoisin type of sauce, again plain. It looked beautiful on the plate, once I asked for some soy sauce and ate the tuna with all three it was delicious.

Team KP S.

Yelp
Decided to review after our second visit to this restaurant. If we were rating off of food alone, then it would be a solid 4-5 stars. The good: the restaurant is pretty, well laid out, feels comfortable/clean and a nice atmosphere for dining. It is not super fancy, but a little nicer than the average beach restaurants. Both times we visited our food was good! Last night I had the osso buco which is an elevated pork pot roast with mashed potatoes, carrots, and green beans. It was flavorful and delicious. My wife had the crab fritters and they were good, but not outstanding. The fries were tasty! Honestly the hush puppies that came with it were freaking fantastic! They need an entire appetizer of those! We started with flash fried chicken wings and they were just ok, plus 3 of the wings had been fried so hard there was no differentiation between the bone and meat... they were black, not sure how they made it on our plate. Maybe the grilled are better? The sauces that came along were very tasty!! Now, the "ahhhh" part. Both visits have had really poor service. Like really poor. The first time they were super busy and it wasn't long after they had opened, so we figured it would work out once they were established. On this second visit it was my birthday and the hostess was really sweet and wished me happy birthday upon our arrival, and she even caught me on the way out and wished it again! Give that girl a raise! But, even though it wasn't busy when we walked in, the host stand was disheveled and they didn't greet us right away or at least smile, say hello and ask for just a moment. Needs a little tweaking. Our server was very friendly and polite, but not very good. We had ordered a salad, but it never arrived and our wings came out within what seemed like moments of ordering. It took a long time for our main course to arrive so when it finally did and we hadn't received the salad, we just left it alone. Our drink glasses were empty multiple times. Once she filled my wife's glass partially and said she would bring some ice; after 10 minutes my wife caught her and asked for ice again. After the second time the waitress went to another table, they requested something, she went straight to the kitchen and returned with what they asked for. Still no ice for us though. Took another 10 minutes and a third mention of the ice and by that time my glass had been empty for a while. I had asked for a side of butter to mix in with my potatoes, never arrived. They were not that busy last night, so I think they just need training with their staff. Overall it was ok, but there are other good results around with much better and more efficient service. The food is important, but how you treat people is how you build a lasting relationship with your clients. We eat at a restaurant close to our home all the time and the food is kind of bad, hahah! But our server is AMAZING, so we go back! To those about to nosh, good luck! I hope you have better service! We will not be back for a while, hope they improve.

Yelp
Have eaten here a couple times now. Great place with delicious food. The flounder was lightly fried and some of the best I've had anywhere. Really good drinks and the desserts will drive insane trying to make a decision. Service was top notch.. highly recommend this place

Joshua G.

Yelp
Our photos speak for themselves. These dishes were as good as they looked! I highly recommend the Cherry Pie cocktail. Dangerously good. The deserts that come out are well portioned- and I recommend trying something!

Yelp
Customer Service MINUS 1. Arrived celebrating a 70th birthday with matching 70th birthday shirts. This restaurant is terrible. Food takes forever to come out and management blames customers for complaining politely. We had reservations and ordered very simple kids food - CHEESEBURGERS. 25min later finally arrived but come on?! We still hadn't ordered our adult entrees and no waiter came to take any orders... Sorry but I don't have 2hrs to sit... If basic cheeseburgers take 25+min how long is a seafood entree?! My kid tipped water on the floor... Sorry but they've been waiting a long time and just did it. Management had to come and tell us it was unacceptable. What a disaster. First time we came here was first week they were open and wanted to give another chance. Never, Never again. Awful. Awful. Awful.

Sally R.

Yelp
The pork chop was completely raw in the middle. They were extremely nice about it, but we had to wait another 40 minutes for it to be cooked correctly. And, we had to order an appetizer that we really didn't want.Everything else we had was delicious!
google avatar

Scott C.

Yelp
Amazing quick service, food was 100%, was a little loud for our taste, but that seemed to be because of the low ceilings and we were seated on the bar side, would definitely go back

Mary S.

Yelp
The service was helpful and friendly. The manager stopped by the table twice to check on things. There seems to be three areas - a bar, casual area and upscale area. The atmosphere was comfortable. The food was excellent. Two of us had a dual plate of bbq scallops over creamed corn and filet mignon.

Yelp
First off, we did not have a reservation for a Thursday night, but the hostess made us feel Really welcome to be seated at a high top table near the bar. # 2, our server was EXCELLENT, knowledgeable about the menu and the wine I asked about. His suggestions for great menu items were on spot. #3 the food was AMAZING! I had the seared tuna, my husband had a steak. Both prepared perfectly. We liked it so much we are going again tonight.
