Sustainable practices (on-site composting, solar power, recycling, and an herb and vegetable garden) sit alongside guest amenities such as a sauna, yoga studio, multiple fire pits, and private decks, delivering a hip, nature-forward stay that emphasizes low-impact living and direct access to seaside recreation." - Bailey Berg

We stayed at the purple cabin and it was amazing. The bathroom was really nice with big tub and separate shower. The kitchen also came with basic utensils, pots, pans and seasonings/condiments. One thing I would probably suggest is maybe bring your own knife if you plan of making your own meal while staying here because the knives there are dangerously dull and in really need of good sharpening. The bedroom upstairs was really nice too. There were binoculars for us to use. The bed was really comfy and the view from the deck is just priceless. Another suggestion I would give is probably bring eye mask if you’re planning of renting during summertime as the bright sun will be shining through the windows since not all of them have curtains. The beach is right in front of the cabin and we did walk the shore almost every day when we were here. There is also a cafe that is walking distance from the property. Overall, I’m really happy and satisfied with our stay and I hope to come back again.

We were very pleased with our stay in the Rustic Roots Indigo seaside cabin. It was cozy while also being trendy/modern and well-equipped. And the view from both inside and outside the cabin was absolutely phenomenal — we found it hard to peel ourselves away from watching the sea otters play in the bay. The cabin was a very simple 10-15 straight shot into the center of Seward, and it definitely seemed like a superior option to the other older/more dated accommodations around town. We would recommend the cabin and the others from Salted Roots to anyone staying in Seward!

A beautiful location in cozy cabin - but remember cozy also means tiny. There was no place to put clothes except for a few hooks. The coffee maker required grinding beans, heating water and then using a French press. A little more work than what we wanted to do in the am. Because the cabins on the water are in a group of three, overlooking a shared firepit area, you have to choose between the view or privacy. The owner/management was completely absent - not a single hello or check in. I found this surprising since the pre-visit communication by email was very good. The place is located on Lowell Point, which is stunning, but only accessible via a fairly rough road - which has seen rockslides in the recent past and is still being fixed to some degree. It is walking distance to Miller's Landing, convenient for a casual breakfast or dinner. They also offer fishing and kayaking. Overall, I do think the place is a tad over-rated for what they offer and for the amount of customer care they provide once you are in the unit booked. You have to decide whether the view, which is spectacular, is worth some of the trade offs. I had been in the same location in an AIRBNB more than a decade ago and the area was quiet and not very built up. This was a very different experience and did not feel as special.

Our stay at the purple door cabin at Salted Roots was outstanding. The cabin was extremely clean and kept up well. They even had bug spray, bear spray, and binoculars for us to use. The king bed upstairs was very comfortable. It was nice having a small kitchen for preparing meals. The view was amazing! Sitting on the upstairs deck, we could see the mountains and boats traveling in the water. We even saw otters playing in Resurrection Bay. Overall, a special place to stay while visiting Seward Alaska!

Wow! We stayed 2 nights in the Orange Door Cottage for our private elopement and I was soooo amazed with how beautiful and quiet the property was. We had a celebratory note and bottle of wine after returning from a hike nearby to Tonsina Point. The following day we slept in, took a very long hot bath (in the biggest bathtub I’ve ever seen) and walked the beach before we started getting ready to meet with our officiant and photographer for the ceremony! It was simple, elegant and everything we could have ever wanted. We had such a fun time with our photographer Emily Jordan and ended the day eating fresh seafood on the porch balcony upstairs watching the sun set. It was such a dream. Thank you. We are already planning to come back in every season. The whole experience felt so effortless and magical. Truly one of the most beautiful places on earth.

We booked the 3 bungalows on the bay, Indigo, Cardinal, Blush. I have to say these were the cutest units we have stayed in. Waking up to the view of the bay and the snow covered mountains was so lovely! It was great that we could all be together and have our own little outdoor gathering area too. A short walk to Miller's landing for fishing and kayak trips and their little cafe. Just great!!

We spent a long weekend with friends and family at Salted Roots and the adjacent Rustic Roots for our June 2025 wedding. The lodging and the grounds are beautiful - there is stunning scenery everywhere you look. The cabins were clean, comfortable, and very stylish. The management team was extremely responsive and provided excellent service. We enjoyed our time there and look forward to returning for a more casual stay!

Well designed, super thoughtful space very near downtown Seward, yet away from all the hustle and bustle. There are too many thoughtful details to mention… gourmet coffee and treats, a wood fired sauna, and amazing beach access just to name a few! Super comfy beds, quality linens and towels, well equipped kitchen… I would stay here again I a heartbeat!!!
