We stayed here for the weekend for a family wedding with our 4 month old baby. We will never stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.||Upon arrival you are greeted by a musty smell of stale alcohol and cigarettes. The communal spaces are littered with fake foliage. Check-in was simple and straightforward but it wasn’t a welcoming experience. ||Never have I ever stayed in a “4 star” hotel that has vending machines in the corridors. Rooms are basic and dusty. Decor is dated and needs to be updated. The carpets are ghastly.||On our first night, we ordered room service which didn’t arrive after an hour. We had to check on our order only to find out that it hadn’t been processed. When it did arrive, one chicken burger was missing and arrived 10 minutes later. Overall, a very poor experience and a negative start to the weekend.||Breakfast is also very basic however the staff were helpful, friendly and polite. Overall, an underwhelming breakfast experience when it’s meant to be one of the best meals of the day.||This hotel is very expensive for what you get. It’s overpriced for the quality of service and would be a one or two star hotel when comparing it to places we have stayed in the past.||If you have to visit Galway, stay somewhere else. Or better yet, go somewhere else entirely!

First time staying in the Salthill Hotel and we had a lovely few nights, having booked our trip last minute. The room was clean and comfortable with a gorgeous view of the sea. What made our stay though was the staff....from Zoltan in the front desk who helped us book a third night and ensured we kept the same room at a decent rate, to Manager Tommy and the breakfast team and bar staff who were friendly and efficient. The room cleaners deserve a mention too. The rooms are very clean and well kept and even though we didnt need it cleaned on the second day, they made sure we had enough drinking water. We've stayed in a few hotels in Galway but the Salthill Hotel is a lovely hotel and the staff were exceptional.

Myself, Husband and little boy stayed here for 3 nights recently. Reception seemed very welcoming and Peggy on Reception was very helpful and knowledgeable. We arrived at our room and were quite disappointed. The smell of must, hairs still on bathroom floor, crack in bathroom sink and very dated shower and room. |We went to the bar on first evening and from the moment we sat down i new it was bad. It was not overly busy and eventually we got given menus, it took over 10mins for someone to come and take order. We got our starters and then after waiting half an hour for main course and not getting attention from the staff we decided to leave. The girl didn't seem to care she just said sorry and do you want to pay for what you did get. I just looked at her and told her the service was terrible, none of you no what you are doing and do not look after the customers. No manager floating around only young people working that do not care. They really need to sort out the staff in the bar area. So overall I would not rate the hotel and found far better food and service nearby.

Stayed in this lovely hotel and few weeks ago with a friend. Everything about the hotel is lovely. Had an amazing cocktail that the bar tender went to great rounds to make. Fabulous staff couldn't do enough for you. Amazing leisure centre. Will definitely be back

Beautiful hotel, friendly and welcoming staff, particularly Eileen on reception and the breakfast manager. Family room had everything we needed, comfortable beds, air conditioning, plenty of pillows. Excellent buffet breakfast with loads of choice. Lively friendly bar and staff. Great parking. Would have loved to stay longer.

Stayed in this hotel a few weeks ago-had a lovely room and experience. Convinced friends to stay here with us for the Galway Races. Hotel placed us in the back section of the hotel-completely different experience. Accommodations were much smaller and filthy-torn drapes, bugs, cracks in ceiling, mold on doors, etc. Not even a chair in the room to sit on, toilet installed crooked, view of moldy window outside. Complained to front desk and asked to be relocated…told they were full-offered my bonding friends a free cocktail! Won’t stay here again.

A very special holiday in a hotel in a lovely seaside location. The hotel is comfortable, clean with very friendly helpful staff. It is a short walk into Galway town centre which is a lovely city to walk around. The restaurant and bar overlooking the beach and promenade are both excellent. A room with a sea view is highly recommended.

The staff at this hotel are excellent. The food in the breakfast room, bar and restaurant is super. The Breakfast team, managed by Tommy are highly efficient and make sure everyone has what they need. |Location of the hotel is right next to the promenade and you can walk both into the city and to the end of the promenade for some fresh air. This is our third stay at this hotel and it is always consistently good.

Yelp
We can't help but say how wonderful our stay was here at this hotel! The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and hard working welcoming large groups of travelers and tourists. The location here is great, right across the street from the waters and a really nice city park to escape from the long day of sightseeing. The bartenders here were extremely nice and kept an eye on everything. Thank you Nyles and Adrian , Vlad for greeting us and making sure that we have a drink and anything else we needed, such as snacks or food. Our bedroom is comfortable and clean, the water pressure is great and hot water is available right away. Our rooms were made up when we returned from our excursion. The breakfast here is great, and there was plenty to choose from. Thank you to the hotel staff at Salthill for making our first visit to Galway a memorable one.

Yelp
Great stay! Hotel was very clean, lots of room, and best of all....it had a shower and a tub. Breakfast was included. Very delicious. Bar area had a slow staff and took awhile to get service but again, food was good. You almost got 5* Peggy at the front desk is amazing. My son has MS and needed a little extra sleep. Being that her sister in-law had MS, she totally understood my sons needs. Very compassionate and caring. Thank you!

Yelp
Truly dreadful hotel in wonderful location. Our room had a view of a roof. No air conditioning. And the window opened only 1 inch. The room was hot!!! Really uncomfortable. We had no room service. No clean towels. Truly dreadful service. Too bad. The location on the water was really lovely.

Yelp
Ok hotel, wouldn't stay here again. Way too many kids left unsupervised in restaurant playing loud video games with clueless parents. Room had a view of a wall, boring room for the price but the gym was outstanding. Nice lobby, rooms need improving. Mints and water were a nice touch. Lower prices are needed. 239 was too much. Hallways were outdated and other guests doors slammed shut. Galway beach area should be avoided for mature adults. Not fun.

Yelp
Hotel staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and also assisted us with packaging up extra purchases to fly home. Hotel was clean and family room was spacious. Bed was soft and comforter was great. Service at breakfast was also great.

Yelp
WARNING: If you like a noisy loud place , then come here. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Bad service. No air conditioning in some rooms so make sure to request one with AC if you want one in your room. If not increases your chance for smoking and drunks from bar people outside your window. Don't bother calling the front desk. They'll just give you a to bit story. WARNING:***** STAY HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK ****

Yelp
Very cool and well above average hotel right on the water in Galway. It's a bit of a walk from the city center and shopping area but a taxi ride is fast. I loved the city overall and couldn't have has a better experience my first time In the city and the country. Their bar is amazing too. Wish I had more time on my trip. If I ever come back I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Great hotel. Staff were terrific, the spa/pool area was a nice treat. The hotel itself is a ways from city center, but the waterfront views are worth it.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Absolute crap hotel. Reserved a room with a balcony and ocean view only to find out the hotel policy does not allow you to access the balcony!!! Room is in desperate need of updating, very plain and blah. Don't stay here, you will be very disappointed.

Yelp
"Lovely Hotel" This is a very nice hotel located right on Galway Bay. The lobby and bar are very nicely appointed. The room was very large but had 2 twin beds pushed together and one could not be slept in. Also located right next to lifts so too much noise. Food was good and staff was very friendly. Great location for touring Galway. Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room on high floor away from the lifts.

Yelp
The hotel room is good size. However the bar was very disappointing. The service was awful and the entertainment was worse. As my husband said - who's bar mitzvah did we crash..... Seriously,I crossed the pond for this????

Yelp
Best hotel of our trip to Ireland. Great room with an ocean view, separate tub and shower, and extremely comfortable bed! Had dinner at the hotel on the second night there, great meal. Our group had an early flight out of Shannon so the hotel staff put out a mini breakfast buffet just for us. Great service!

Yelp
This was our favorite hotel in Ireland, and we hit up quite a few. The room was clean and lovely with plenty of space. The bed was comfortable, the location was great and had some amazing pubs with good food close by. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was typical traditional Irish breakfast. Most important to me was that they had a fan system in the rooms, so you could switch it on for a soft background noise from the door slammers, and loud late night arrivals.

Yelp
Very nice hotel in a great location. In the evening we took a taxi to city center and then walked downtown the next day. It was not far and a very pretty walk. There was a wedding one night in the hotel and it was raining so we decided to stay in, it was difficult to get service in the bar, but we were in no hurry, so it worked. This is a very modern hotel compared to the other hotels in Ireland.

Yelp
My whole family decided to go to my grandmothers birthplace of Ireland. We stayed at the Salthill hotel for 3 days. The hotel was beautiful and right on the ocean! I was very impressed. On the second day that we were there, my grandmother became very incoherent and did not recognize any of us. We went to the front desk for help. They were very fast acting and had contacted the doctors right away. An ambulance was called and while we sat with my grandmother, they took care of everything. The manager, Fiona, was so kind and helpful through this terrifying time. They were very accommodating to all of our needs and I am very thankful that we stayed at this hotel. Their customer service deserves an award. My grandmother turned out to have a combination of jet lag, dehydration and exhaustion. She turned out to be perfectly fine and continued to tour with us. I would 1000% recommend staying here.
