My wife and I had a 3-night stay in the Salthill Hotel during the Galway Comedy festival. We had chosen room only stay because we knew we would be in town all day each day visiting friends and our son who is in University of Galway. As below, it was our second time staying in the hotel this year and it was "top notch" again. While we had plenty of rain during our stay, we still got to do long walks on the prom and into town: when it was too wet there are a couple of bus stops close by which bring your straight into town with the result that we left the car parked up in the hotel car park for the entirety of our stay. ||In July 2025, we had stayed in the Salthill hotel for 4 nights as a family of 6 plus my wife’s parents had joined us. It was my fifth time staying in the hotel but a first for everyone else. We were hosting a lunch on one of the days for a family group of 22. The weather was beautiful with a pleasant breeze most days, and to be fair having no rain was such a bonus for a stay in Galway. Having the prom and beaches across the road is such a cool part of the hotel's facilities. Our stay was excellent throughout: the rooms were spacious and really comfortable and some of us used the leisure centre every day that we were there. Food was very good, and we had breakfast in the hotel each morning. Staff were excellent and looked after us and our guests with a lovely atmosphere and old school hospitality and efficiency.

Myself and my husband Adrian got married in the Salthill Hotel in July 2025. After viewing a few other hotels, the minute we met with Valerie, we knew we weren’t going to be going anywhere else.|From the second we met Valerie, she made us feel so welcome and really listened to what our wants for the day were. Her passion for her job shines through at every moment and we got the impression that she really cared about helping us, creating our perfect day. She went through so many things with us that day that we had not even thought about. Her experience in the field is unmatched, she almost doubled up as a wedding planner, keeping us on track at every step and ensuring we were hitting deadlines when we needed to. ||As well as being a complete and utter professional, above all, she is a genuinely kind and beautiful person. Weddings can be stressful enough to organise but one thing we never had to stress about, was how the salthill hotel would work and look on the day. ||We then met Stephen at our menu tasting and again, he made us feel so welcome and treated us so well! Stephen and Valerie compliment each other so well and make the perfect team. ||There is not one thing we can fault the Salthill Hotel on. There was plenty of food and drink at our reception, the service from all staff was brilliant, the food at the meal was exceptional and the place looked amazing. ||Without a doubt, Salthill Hotels biggest asset is having Valerie and Stephen! We could not recommend them enough and will never be able to thank them both for the role they played in ensuring we had the best day ever.||Thank you both so much,|Clare Ann and Adrian

We recently had our wedding here. I couldn't recommend Valerie, Steven and the team enough. Valerie is a fantastic wedding planner. The staff were incredible. The food was delicious and there was so much of it. We had the most relaxed day. All our guests had the best time. Many thanks

I had an evening meal at The Salthill Hotel on Saturday evening and was really impressed. I ordered the gluten-free fish and chips, which were absolutely beautiful, perfectly cooked, crisp and light batter and wonderfully fresh fish. It was served with a lovely tartare sauce, fresh delicate side salad, chips, mushy peas and all of it combined really lifted the whole dish. Some good options for non-alcoholic wines and beers also.||It’s such a pleasure to find somewhere that takes care with quality gluten-free options and delivers food that’s both tasty and thoughtfully presented. The setting was calm and welcoming, with great service and a relaxed atmosphere, which was exactly what was needed for a leisurely evening meal at the seaside venue after a hard day's work.||A genuinely delicious meal and a place I’ll definitely be returning to. I highly recommend for anyone looking for quality, fresh food in Salthill.

Check in was quick and efficient with Pranav. The hotel facilities were well explained ||Room was super cozy and had all the amenities needed, only drawback charging ports only on one side of the bed!||Dinner was great and the food was good at the Blackrock bar, very friendly staff with a special mention to our server - Mary ||Breakfast following morning was great too with a wide variety of options and anything not on the buffet can always be requested, never a hassle to them. Friendly, courteous and polite service staff at the restaurant with a special mention to Sarah.||Definitely worth a visit, close to city centre. Stunning views of the Galway bay, highly recommended||Well done team Salthill Hotel Galway!!

Was extremely disappointed with this hotel. The hotel is very outdated. And gives an overall old vibe. For the price we paid definitely does not match the standard of this hotel. Breakfast area was a total joke. Loads of staff but they all running around like headless chicken and absolutely not a clue. It was totally a fend for yourself. Tables not set I had to do that myself each morning. Nothing was restocked when ran out. No bar food reservations for guests even though restaurant was closed. Rooms extremely old fashioned. Felt like we were in a prison cell as we were looking out at 4 walls of other hotel rooms.

Our lunch at Salthill Hotel with a group of six was genuinely wonderful. George, the manager, went out of his way to show us that classic Irish hospitality is alive and kicking. From the moment we walked in, he made us feel right at home with his friendly welcome and attentive care. The food was delicious, each dish full of flavour and cooked to perfection. On top of that, the service was outstanding; nothing was too much trouble. It felt more like a warm family get-together than just a meal. Honestly, if anyone wants great food served with a smile and that special Irish charm, Salthill Hotel is the place to go.

Located right on the Salthill promenade, sandy beach, the hotel has the perfect location. The leisure centre and swimming pools were the highlight of our stay, one of the best I've been to. the breakfast was lovely with wide selection of fruits and delicious food. The only negative I would mention were very thin walls I could even hear the next door guest snoring

Yelp
We can't help but say how wonderful our stay was here at this hotel! The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and hard working welcoming large groups of travelers and tourists. The location here is great, right across the street from the waters and a really nice city park to escape from the long day of sightseeing. The bartenders here were extremely nice and kept an eye on everything. Thank you Nyles and Adrian , Vlad for greeting us and making sure that we have a drink and anything else we needed, such as snacks or food. Our bedroom is comfortable and clean, the water pressure is great and hot water is available right away. Our rooms were made up when we returned from our excursion. The breakfast here is great, and there was plenty to choose from. Thank you to the hotel staff at Salthill for making our first visit to Galway a memorable one.

Yelp
I have never in my life left a bad review, but this one is necessary. This hotel is a wedding venue and has poor sound insulation. Do not stay here on a Saturday night if your plan is to sleep. We were kept awake until after 2 a.m. the night before a big event of our own. We had earplugs with us, but the music was still too loud. My mother was in a different part of the hotel and had a very different experience, so I suppose we were unlucky. But if you do have to book for a Saturday, make sure you're nowhere near the ballroom.

Yelp
Great stay! Hotel was very clean, lots of room, and best of all....it had a shower and a tub. Breakfast was included. Very delicious. Bar area had a slow staff and took awhile to get service but again, food was good. You almost got 5* Peggy at the front desk is amazing. My son has MS and needed a little extra sleep. Being that her sister in-law had MS, she totally understood my sons needs. Very compassionate and caring. Thank you!

Yelp
Truly dreadful hotel in wonderful location. Our room had a view of a roof. No air conditioning. And the window opened only 1 inch. The room was hot!!! Really uncomfortable. We had no room service. No clean towels. Truly dreadful service. Too bad. The location on the water was really lovely.

Yelp
Ok hotel, wouldn't stay here again. Way too many kids left unsupervised in restaurant playing loud video games with clueless parents. Room had a view of a wall, boring room for the price but the gym was outstanding. Nice lobby, rooms need improving. Mints and water were a nice touch. Lower prices are needed. 239 was too much. Hallways were outdated and other guests doors slammed shut. Galway beach area should be avoided for mature adults. Not fun.

Yelp
Booked room with full bed got twin beds. Ok moved on we wanted water view got kitchen roof top views nice roof. Avoid this hotel at all cost not friendly and most of all not helpful. We are checking out and going to any other hotel... Douglas R.

Yelp
Hotel staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and also assisted us with packaging up extra purchases to fly home. Hotel was clean and family room was spacious. Bed was soft and comforter was great. Service at breakfast was also great.

Yelp
WARNING: If you like a noisy loud place , then come here. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Bad service. No air conditioning in some rooms so make sure to request one with AC if you want one in your room. If not increases your chance for smoking and drunks from bar people outside your window. Don't bother calling the front desk. They'll just give you a to bit story. WARNING:***** STAY HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK ****

Yelp
Very cool and well above average hotel right on the water in Galway. It's a bit of a walk from the city center and shopping area but a taxi ride is fast. I loved the city overall and couldn't have has a better experience my first time In the city and the country. Their bar is amazing too. Wish I had more time on my trip. If I ever come back I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Great hotel. Staff were terrific, the spa/pool area was a nice treat. The hotel itself is a ways from city center, but the waterfront views are worth it.

Jeff H.

Yelp
Absolute crap hotel. Reserved a room with a balcony and ocean view only to find out the hotel policy does not allow you to access the balcony!!! Room is in desperate need of updating, very plain and blah. Don't stay here, you will be very disappointed.

Yelp
"Lovely Hotel" This is a very nice hotel located right on Galway Bay. The lobby and bar are very nicely appointed. The room was very large but had 2 twin beds pushed together and one could not be slept in. Also located right next to lifts so too much noise. Food was good and staff was very friendly. Great location for touring Galway. Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room on high floor away from the lifts.

Yelp
The hotel room is good size. However the bar was very disappointing. The service was awful and the entertainment was worse. As my husband said - who's bar mitzvah did we crash..... Seriously,I crossed the pond for this????

Yelp
Best hotel of our trip to Ireland. Great room with an ocean view, separate tub and shower, and extremely comfortable bed! Had dinner at the hotel on the second night there, great meal. Our group had an early flight out of Shannon so the hotel staff put out a mini breakfast buffet just for us. Great service!

Christine M.

Yelp
This was our favorite hotel in Ireland, and we hit up quite a few. The room was clean and lovely with plenty of space. The bed was comfortable, the location was great and had some amazing pubs with good food close by. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was typical traditional Irish breakfast. Most important to me was that they had a fan system in the rooms, so you could switch it on for a soft background noise from the door slammers, and loud late night arrivals.

Mary F.

Yelp
Very nice hotel in a great location. In the evening we took a taxi to city center and then walked downtown the next day. It was not far and a very pretty walk. There was a wedding one night in the hotel and it was raining so we decided to stay in, it was difficult to get service in the bar, but we were in no hurry, so it worked. This is a very modern hotel compared to the other hotels in Ireland.

Yelp
My whole family decided to go to my grandmothers birthplace of Ireland. We stayed at the Salthill hotel for 3 days. The hotel was beautiful and right on the ocean! I was very impressed. On the second day that we were there, my grandmother became very incoherent and did not recognize any of us. We went to the front desk for help. They were very fast acting and had contacted the doctors right away. An ambulance was called and while we sat with my grandmother, they took care of everything. The manager, Fiona, was so kind and helpful through this terrifying time. They were very accommodating to all of our needs and I am very thankful that we stayed at this hotel. Their customer service deserves an award. My grandmother turned out to have a combination of jet lag, dehydration and exhaustion. She turned out to be perfectly fine and continued to tour with us. I would 1000% recommend staying here.
