Salthouse Harbour Hotel

A great hotel situated on a stunning location by the Ipswich quayside harbour. We opted this time for the penthouse suite for a two night stay. Spacious room and lounge with awesome floor to ceiling glass Panasonic views overlooking the harbour. The Bathroom really needs a a full refurb as it simply does not cry out, that I’m part of a penthouse suite. Floor tiles are a yucky green colour and the bath is simply a basic standard white bath that you see in most standard homes. The sunken light fittings in the shower don’t work, nor do the ones around the bath. Bath tap fitting was broken. No luxury bath salts or any form of luxury toiletries that you might expect for a penthouse suite. We ate in the restaurant on our last night. Service was of a high standard as was the quality of the food. Checking in and out at reception was easy and we was made to feel very welcome with our bags taken up to our suite. Left on a very happy note (even though the bathroom was a big let down) Manager was at reception when we left so we had an informal chat about the new designs planned for the new year (as per website) and we look forward to doing a revisit in 2026.

Had a great weekend stay here in November 2025 - we used their weekend deal and it was definitely worth the money. |The hotel is decorated to a high standard, with a few quirky art pieces. |We stayed on the 5th floor and had a small balcony, although only their standard room. Bathroom was a little dated, could do with a refurb.|Breakfast was amazing. Staff extremely attentive. The only problem was waiting for dinner for over 45mins, but we just enjoyed our drinks and some time together. Food was incredible, when it did arrive. Great location overlooking the marina and a short distance from the town centre and football stadium. Would definitely return and recommend.

The people who run this hotel provide a great customer experience and they maintain this high standard time after time. They are genuine, friendly and welcoming. Each of the rooms I stayed in have their own personal touch. The Marina room is stunning especially in the evening. The food is beautifully presented. The Salthouse Harbour Hotel is my treat and I return here whenever I have some spare time.

As always, the hospitality we experienced with Rachael and all the staff that we came into contact with, was incredible. They did everything possible to make sure we were enjoying our stay and making life easy for us. It’s the very best place to stay and we will always pick the Salthouse for our future stays. A beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The lady who checked us in was incredibly welcoming and friendly. We were offered drinks as our room wasn’t ready (because we arrived early). Our room had a side view of the marina which was a lovely surprise, having only booked a city view. Our room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. The hotel was lovely and quiet. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Me and my partner (+dog) had a lovely stay here, the room was amazing with beautiful views over the harbour. The bed was soooo comfortable. Despite ongoing refurbishment on the ground floor the service and room service was 5 star. There was a dog bowl with a toy in the room which was a nice touch. Will be returning!

Fantastic hotel. Brilliant location. Cannot fault it at all. I contacted the hotel prior to visiting with my requirements and was very happy to see that they had taken note of this and was very attentive. From the minute I arrived to the minute I left, nothing was too much trouble. |I had room 210 overlooking the Marina with the balcony doors. I suffer from claustrophobia and this room was perfect. Very light, spacious and airy with balcony doors plus full window panels either side. ||A really comfortable nights sleep, the bed was comfy and the pillows I just fell into. I am deaf and the hotel provided a pillow shaker alarm in the event of a fire. They went above and beyond. Oh and they make an excellent Mojito!||Thank you so much to Charlotte and Sophie and to the guys who parked my car for me in the reserved disabled parking bay. I will definitely stay at this hotel again next time I am in Suffolk visiting family.

On the plus side the location is what you are really paying for and the view. For a boutique hotel the rooms are overpriced even if you get the discounted rate due to refurbishment. Our room had a good view yes, but the amenities in the room for the price are lacking, there was no chair to sit at the desk, there was no mini bar and the shower leaked over the bathroom floor every time we used it, the tea and coffee making facilities are hidden in the wardrobe so if you want to use them you have to take them out and set them up yourself. Due to the refurbishment one of the “penthouse suites “ was turned into a lounge with a very limited drinks menu. If you were to book the penthouse suite at full price I would say it would be very underwhelming! Overall an average hotel in a good location

The Salthouse feels like a lovely little boutique hotel, although it's actually fairly sizeable. My room unfortunately wasn't overlooking the harbour, so I had a delightful car park view instead. I didn't mind though as I was just going to be in and out. According to my colleagues, a room with a harbour view is definitely worth asking for. My room was very stylish I thought. Unique things that I hadn't seen anywhere else like mosiac style feature wallpaper in a dramatic blue and black pattern, and just nice little touches like a retro style telephone and dotty mugs, and a big rustic wooden bench/desk. There is nothing corporate about this place at all, it is very nicely done. The bathroom was great too - a seperate shower cubicle with an overhead and side on shower, and a big double bath tub - I had a fantastic soak before heading out for the evening. The room had its own temperature control, and the bed was very comfortable - I felt like I was being enveloped in a gigantic soft marshmallow. I can't comment much more than that, as I didn't have dinner or breakfast there, and didn't use the bar. I'd like to come back to the Salthouse though - when away from home through work, staying here feels like a real treat.

Very charming design hotel overlooking the Ipswich harbor. Rooms are very comfy and decorated with taste and in a sailor kind of atmosphere. A little walk from the center but since be city is not big and the walk is nice (along the harbor) it is no problem. Good breakfast in the morning too. Dont Forget to ask for a room with a view on the harbor. Nothing says "good morning " better than the seagulls waking you up and the view on the boats. With a room in a corner of the building the view gets even wider :) They have a free parking so let your car there and enjoy an healthy walk. Will stay there no doubt if I ever go back to city.

Fantastic location overlooking Ipswich Waterfront - lovely views across the marina, especially when the sun is setting. Very good choice of food - meat, fish and vegetables. Set price menu was also available when I visited. Prices are not too expensive - very good quality. Currently there is building work ongoing next door as they are expanding. Accommodation is also available although I have not stayed there overnight but my friend has advised me that it is very nice.

I spent my wedding night and last wedding anniversary there. It is a lovely hotel with very comfortable well designed rooms and delicious food. Enjoy.

Very nice meals. Indoors inside or outside eating by the water on the harbour. highly recommend it.

Visited them for an impromptu Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Service was not great, but the food was interesting some novel dishes like Thai courgette coup which I was unsure of the sound of , but which tasted really good. All in all a good lunch and hope to return
