On the Grid : Salt n Bone

"Salt n Bone has a passion for food and hospitality like all great Gastrobars. Friendly service and advice on beer to pair with their hearty dinner options, including homemade sausages made from local meats. Dining isn’t a requisite to visit the establishment since they frequently host Local Brewery Nights and Tap Take Overs." - Gabby Lord

Best scotch egg I ever had, and the sliders were amazing. Fried pickles were an unexpected delight, wings were great... probably the best meal I had in my short time in Berlin. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the ambiance is a perfect fit for the food. The only odd part was the fried chicken burger; flavor was great, but the shape of the chicken pieces made it impossible to eat like a burger. Other than that, the place is an easy 5 stars.

I would give 10 stars, if I could. Everything was perfect, from the kindness of the waiters who served us, to the food and to the quality of the beers and of the ciders proposed, to the perfectly honest prices. One of the guests was allergic to gluten and milk, and she was able to eat without problems.. not only they prepared a version of the menu for her, but also she felt totally welcome. We'll visit this restaurant again, it was totally worth!

3.5 Stars (rounding to the upper digit): since I was there for the vibe than the food. Great ambience, super friendly staff (they helped me get my Kinderwagen in). However the food was so so. Starting from fried chicken: tasted super crispy but was salty. Fish & Chips: decent but not great. Beyond burger: Very good flavor of meat (less) but no other flavors to justify the price. Drinks were good.

Wow: What a culinary surprise! If you're looking for place to eat a delicious meal in any direction then this is the place to be. I had just plain Fish&Chips with a delicate malt vinegar, before asparagus salad; my friends had fried chicken, quesadillas and hamburgers ... I tried everything, and everything was accompanied by a special spicy sauce, each different ... and yes, everything was delicious. Do you know places where the food is marvelous and the service creepy? This is not one of them: The service is really kind, human, helpful, generous with smiles.

One of the better experiences I've had in Berlin. I can't wait to go back. This type of place is why I love Berlin. Great beer, cocktails, food and music although I can understand from comments it could have been very different since I enjoyed New Order and Bob Dylan during my visit. Service was great, think it was an Irish woman. Started out with wings and Scottish egg, super tasty accompanied by Moscow Mules and lager. Ribs very sweat and salty and falling off the bone. Tables are a bit close, but not an issue.

Google
1. They sell Aspall cider 2. The food was super yummy and fresh- tasted like it was all homemade 3. The service was friendly and fast 4. The area it is in is beaut Really happy we scoped this place out, it’s quite a way out of the centre of Berlin. We went because it said online they do a Sunday roast, don’t know if they actually do as the spicy cauliflower sounded too good to miss out on....and it was!! Definitely recommend...thank you Salt’n Bone for a lovely lunch!

I am getting hungry again, just by looking at the photos. The food was super tasty, rediculous. Very nice staff, extremely friendly, good beer, extraordinary kitchen (the combination of different flavors, the texture, the taste, everything is on point). we felt super welcome. Just awesome.

Google
Not a bad place, great food and friendly staff. Great cocktails and mixed drinks and a good selection of micro-brewery beers, if one is into that. It’s a bit too much of an ex-pat hangout, so there’s that.

Yelp
A proper Negroni is hard to find in the city that loves its biergarten and beach bars. But trust that my good friend knows where to find one. He found one in fact, that's so satisfactory, and even more fantastic that they have a Barrel Aged one for only €10. (this is easily $16 in San Francisco!) I had two of these and was about to order a third one when someone (blame my husband) decided it was time to go home :( okay, okay. He had a legit reason, we had a 8am flight the next day. That didn't stop the crew from ordering multiple rounds of brewski, from IPAs to classic witbier or just ask the staff for the current specials and they can recommend something to your liking. Centrally located in Prenzlauer berg, this is a fun and relaxing place to hang out. The group was in a bitter sweet mood as it always goes on our last night in Berlin since we only see them twice a year. No doubt, I will be back to Salt n Bone. Especially since the menu is unapologetically American and in the land of currywurst and doner kebabs, that's definitely a good thing.

Yelp
This is a fantastic little slice of London, Portland Oregon or Williamsburg Brooklyn, only in P-Berg. Awesome, thoughtful gastrpub fare. We live a few blocks from here and are new to the neighborhood...this will be a regular haunt. To management: how about bone marrow and toast?

Yelp
I had a wonderful meal here the other night. The servers were very friendly and energetic. I had 3 things. Berliner Berg Pale Ale which had a nice kick to it but very refreshing during this heat wave. For an appetizer I enjoyed the Scotch Egg (will add picture). I liked the bacon mayo played well with the whole dish. The egg was cooked to perfection and the dish was surprisingly light and outer shell was very crispy. For my main dish I ordered the Pork Belly. I had mixed reviews on the pork belly. Let us start with the presentation it was very nice. The pork was very tender and flavorful and the salad it sat on was very good. The only thing I really didnt care for was the candied nuts (but that is a preference thing). I didnt think it added anything to the dish (IMO). Service was great and would recommend to anyone that is hanging out around the area :).

Yelp
Highly recommended for craft beer enthusiasts and those just looking for a good meal. I really enjoyed my red oat ale from Spent Brewer's collective. The scotch egg and dirty dog dishes were very well prepared and quite tasty. Service was super friendly and I sure did have a great time here.

Yelp
This is a gastropub with good service and friendly atmosphere and the owners are great. Beer is always great. However, they changed their menu since the pandemic. Previously there was great pub style plates like fried pickles, chicken wings, fried chicken burgers, ribs and more. Now it seems they want to be everything to everyone (and lost their heart) - popcorn, tacos, burgers, fish and chips, elote, bruschetta, Ceviche. I hope they return to what they did best and made them one of the best spots in the city. The change was contrived and unfortunately removed them from the top list for now for this critic.

Yelp
This new irish location has been making a lot of (positive) noise. And it is pretty much in my "Kiez " , so IT was only a matter of Time until i was paying The friendly and quick Staff there a visit. Ofcourse i placed an Order of real men ! ( and Hungry ones! ) : spare ribs and a Guiness pint. The Place was fully booked so i took a place on The Counter , had a Chat with The Barman and enjoyed my meal. The ribs had the perfect texture and taste....lovely. All in all a perfect after work meal in a great place.

Yelp
Great authentic pub in the middle of Helmholtzkiez. Wide variety of beers, even for non-alcohol drinkers like me. The Alcohol-free IPA from Rigele Brauerei is the best in its class. The Burgers were also fantastic, staff is friendly, and prices are fair.

Yelp
Nestled on a quite avenue in Prenzlauer Berg, this American cuisine eatery will sports a classic menu of authentic Americans with a distinctly German feel. Outside bench seating is available for those warm summer nights but when the climate isn't hospitable, grab a seat in the restaurant's clay interior. Tasteful dim lights adorn the main eating area and the tables are quite cozy. Once situated, the menu provides for an alluring selection of IPA's, pilsners, and white ales (I went with the white ale). For eats, choose among any of Salt n Bone's mouth watering traditional burger takes and sides with some eyebrow raising (in a good way) options as well. One of the interesting items witnessed was a Korean burger with a kimchi spread (hello a second sampling to come by and try that bad boy!). I myself went with a delectable fried chicken burger with fries accompanied by a Parmesan aioli spread. Was not disappointed! Also, the staff was as friendly and helpful as could be!

Yelp
One word: YUM! This is not a place to come to for a health-focused lean meal, but if you want to splurge:OMG!! Juicy meat on the burger, great fries, mac n cheese were perfect and we like the beers as well. Staff is friendly and accommodating, nice ambiance, nothing to complain.

Yelp
this place is great; I did not want to like it because of the hype and the fact that it is in the Helmholzkiez, but it was really good. The service, the food ... everything. We had the ribs, the bad boy burger, home made fries (with a tasty kimchi dip) and the wings ... and I knew after the started that we are gonna visit this place again. Maybe not the bestest burger in Berlin, but very close. Loved it very much

Yelp
Great food, great service, great cocktails! My boyfriend and I came here two days in a row and it was amazing both times. They have a great selection of craft beers and the food is amazing. I am totally recommending this place

Yelp
Food is pretty good here. Expect classic American comfort foods with a twist. The wings and focaccia are really nice starters and the burgers, ribs and chicken dishes are always a hit. The other day they had a Adobe Chicken Burger special with avocado mousse that was awesome! Fun and extensive drink menu including special beers. They have a handful of tables inside and a couple outside in the summer. They take reservations which is needed most of the time. Watch out for Sunday evenings here though as they often run out of essential things on menu like burger buns, etc. Staff are really good too

Yelp
We had the mixed platter for two with sausages, meat-on-a-stick and other stuff. It was absolutely delicious, homemade sausages, homemade mustard and different pickles. Best mix of different flavours I had in a very long time. The beer was good, but the food topped everything I had in Berlin before...try the haus-sausage. Staff was friendly and very attentive, atmosphere is little dark, but very cosy. Fair to say my new favorite place to be in Berlin... Thank you so much for the lovely evening!

Yelp
Great choice of beers both on tap and bottled, AND excellent gastro-pub quality food. Really friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Every Sunday they do a different typical British Sunday Roast dinner (which I miss and sometimes cannot be arsed to cook myself). This week it was Roast pork shoulder with crackling, caramelised carrot puree, savoy cabbage in browned butter and red onion gravy. Mmmm perfect. Generous portion sizes. Perfectly crispy roasties just like your mum makes at home! My only complaint is that the gravy was too salty, which slightly ruined the whole thing, since the pork from salt in the crackling was already fairly salty. Desserts - there were only two choices but both were tempting. There are also some excellent bar snacks like homemade scotch eggs. Will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
We had a great time and a wonderful server (can't recall her name but she was from Ireland). The food was delicious, drinks were well made and atmosphere was friendly. We would definitely return next time we are in Berlin.

Yelp
Make a reservation if you do not want to sit at the bar-- we don't mind so worked out for us. The food and drinks are fantastic, great bartender/owner! The Scottish eggs are fantastic, as is the salt n bone burger. The gimlet is amazing!! FYI the restaurant is cash only.

Yelp
This was an exceptionally good restaurant. The turkey dinner was one of the best I've had ever in my entire life. The beer was expensive for Germany, but that's because the Germans don't do micro brews. The atmosphere is charming and the staff are really nice. I would love to go back. I've been five times.

Yelp
Best Restaurant in Berlin. Good Ribs and Polenta.

Yelp
Incredible, amazing beer with incredible, amazing food. Everything was so tasty that I don't know where to begin, really. We ordered the ribs for two, which were a delicious feast. And the scotch eggs, my god. Prices are not cheap compared to other beer places in the vicinity but you should really treat yourself with a visit to Salt n Bone. Don't miss this place!

Yelp
The place is really nice, cute decor and good service. But the food and the beer are a little bit expensive in my opinion (food around €12-18 / beer €5-8). I had the Bone Burguer and wasn't a really good burguer. It was ok. For the price I expected better.

Yelp
Very impressed with this place! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, wonderful selection of craft beers on tap and in bottle, and really tasty top end pub grub. I will be visiting again soon for sure!

Yelp
The atmosphere is really nice. Had the platter for two. The scotch egg was tasty, but the meats, which are kind of the main idea, weren't good enough. The ribs not succulent enough. And the Chocolate-chocolate-chocolate-chocolate dessert, very disappointing for such a promising name. It's a small dish, the cake was dry, and the Chocolate sauce had a cheap flavor.

Yelp
Excellent choice of beer (an ever changing chalkboard with a lot of Berlin brewers). The burgers are good and the aioli (which was included before) is yummy. The place and atmosphere is typical Berlin style and very cozy. I come here for the mix of atmosphere, grub and good beer.

Yelp
Very nice small-ish restaurant with "modern" bar food (fancy burgers, salads, steak sandwiches, etc.) Bonus points for the great selection of craft beers on tap and bottled, awesome music selection playing, and super friendly service. The menu looks like it will change frequently, but I expect a few house favorites (the chicken fried in Cornflakes, for one) will stick around. We were happy with everything we ordered though the fries that came with the burger and the porkbelly added to the salad were both a little lukewarm and may have lost a bit of their crunch in between the kitchen and reaching our table (though we didn't wait long at all for the food). The burger was a "real" patty though, not the "made with real old newspapers" meatloaf slice some places here try to pass off. They also do dessert cocktails, which I didn't try, but looked interesting in an indulgent way. Added benefit: very affordable -- 4 strong beers, 2 mains and an appetizer totaled under 50 euros.
