Yelp
There were only two options near the Montjuic train stop that we saw. One was a little cafe shack and one had "RESTAURANT" printed on it. Upon passing by the entrance, we were greeted by the host/greeter who knew what to say to us. He explained that the restaurant was on a balcony and provided a sweeping view of Barcelona, and he assured us that the food was spectacular. That was my main concern because tourist traps can serve crappy food but still survive because they are in the right location. I also noticed that there were "Michelin rated" stickers, which got me excited about the quality of the food. With his assurance and seeing the lunch special - a 3-course option for 29 euros each - we sauntered on in.
Immediately, we were impressed by the view. Immediately following that, we were surprised by rude service. My BF's mom asked if we could select which table we sat at, but the younger waiter (most are quite old men) rudely cut her off with repeated "no". We sat down and the same waiter rudely threw the tablecloth on the table and asked us to stretch it out. My BF's mom rightly pointed out how rude he was. After this, we were offered a recently opened table at the edge of the balcony for a better view. We were also served by another waiter who was nicer and humorous than our first disrespectful waiter. (Point in case: if you are being served rudely, it is your right to say so and receive good service. You are paying.)
The three of us each ordered the three-course lunch special. I got the salad, mixed paella, and ice cream. My co-eaters ordered the other two main entree options.
Salad: presented beautifully. Fresh mixed greens. Balsamic vinegarette applied light in flavor and light in amount. The farmer's cheese cubes were absolutely the star of the dish. So soft, creamy yet light at the same time, and with a very, very mild flavor. It was a cheese I had never had before and impressed me. I wish I knew what it was so I could buy it and eat it everyday.
Paella: Presented first in a cast iron skillet, then plated, it comes with chicken pieces on the bone, squid, scallop, and prawns. The two prawns were cooked just right such that they were not chewy. The paella rice, which was likely arborio rice, was cooked enough so that it retained its firmness but not crunchy. The sauce and flavor was very good, just enough seafood flavor to be enjoyable and not overpowering.
Lamb: likely the meat behind the shoulder blade, it was braised so that it was so tender and nearly melts in your mouth. Served with a brown sauce over a creamy potato puree, this dish was visibly enjoyed by my BF.
Fish + vegetables: perhaps a cod seared and put over a bed of snap peas, baby corn, and carrots. Happily enjoyed by the BF's mom. I liked how the baby corn tasted fresh, rather than canned like I'm used to everywhere.
Creme brulee cake roll: Wow, this definitely is beautiful and eye-catching. Was not what I expected when they said "creme brulee". It is a cake roll with chocolate filling and a creme brulee'd top. Fantastic concept. Delicious, but too much chocolate filling for me.
Ice cream: vanilla bean specs were visible, so you know it's house-made with real vanilla. It was really too heavy and too rich, but still enjoyable.
The view is breath-taking, and the food is high quality and delicious. For lunch, it's a great price. Ordering off the menu is a bit pricey, but expected from a Michelin-rated restaurant with a view. The only thing this place needs to work on is there service, other than that, highly highly recommended.
