We had been so excited to visit this location after lots of Bologna research and it was the perfect start to our trip. A warm welcome but enthusiastic and informative staff and the food was simply excellent... a charcuterie board washed down by a beautifully chilled Lambrusco. Warm vibe, relaxed atmosphere and an abundance of tempting delights in the menu. Little wonder it's an institution in Bologna, thankfully we have many more days here to sample even more of them. Visiting Salumeria Simoni felt less like a quick stop for food and more like stepping into a temple of flavour. The place is warm, fragrant, and buzzing with that effortless Italian charm. I wandered between the displays of cheeses and cured meats, each one more tempting than the last, until the staff—friendly in that confident, “we know you’ll love this” way—guided me toward a few selections. I ended up buying cheese and some incredible meat specialties, all sliced with care and offered with a smile. Leaving the shop with my little bundle of flavours felt like carrying a piece of Bologna itself.

We ordered 2 x cold cuts, one with bresaola and one with roast beef. They bring home made bread with meat (pork). We had the bread replace with plain focaccia bread and they honored our request with pleasure. Ripasso was the right choice for this experience and to extend our pleasure, we ordered roast beef panini. They serve it warm with pesto, tomato, parmesan cheese and of course roast beef :-) Panini was even more delicious than cold cuts. We also ordered pickles but they were not actually pickles but olives, onions and artichokes with balsamic dressing. They were more like antipastis and not the pickles we used to know. Half point cut here :-( There are also more stools than chairs and I don’t find them comfy. Half point cut here, too :-(

A superb place to try cured meats from the region. Primarily aimed at tourists, but the food is amazing and fresh nevertheless. The taglieri (platter) is great value for money.

Salumeria Simoni is a great stop for salami plates mortadella and cheese. Christian served us in the best manner and we enjoyed our beer and wine in a lovely night!

We had a wonderful experience eating an Italian cheese board here. Top quality products and very friendly service.

The food was absolutely delicious and outstanding quality! We were surprised as it’s in a touristy area but the vibes were also amazing around too. Would definitely recommend and would go again.

Great experience; choose one of wooden plate ( mixed with different kind of cheese and deli options), order your wine and enjoy your day or night . You can even buy whatever you want in deli counter . We obsessed with the tastes and atmosphere ( being in the heart of popular street ) .
