Stayed here simply as I'd always seen the building and wanted the retro experience!||||I couldn't make my initial night, so emailed and called to rearrange (with no reply!). Although when I walked past the hotel two days later, the receptionists were very forgiving and took pity on this poor Brit - Booking me in for a few days time instead. Suggest that the management ensure email and phones are replied to!||||The hotel itself is fun - Try running down the 'stairs' to reception instead of the lift. You'll be dizzy before hitting ground level. Quite something after a few pints!||||The rooms are pleasant enough, clean and modern. Very clean. AC is powerful and effective although quite noisy. My room overlooked the pioneers palace and wasn't so great for views - So I'd recommend overlooking the park instead. Modern city planners have ruined the views by building a massive apartment block to the north.||||No breakfast supplied (nor available, it would seem!) - This is unusual for a larger Kiev hotel, so perhaps a result of lower numbers in the pandemic? Price needs to be lower for this omission.||||Reception seemed to be in power-saving mode, as all the lights were permanently off and even the poor receptionists were sat next to a three-bar to keep warm. Bit of a creepy welcome, frankly. Better option is the Hotel Ukraine on Maidan. Not much retro/interesting left at this establishment!

The hotel from the outside is glorious. What a great looking building, so striking, so elegant. The location, again is superb. I cannot fault this. The receptionist again, a lovely lady. However.......||||Issues ||* The hotel BADLY needs some work doing to it. The interior clearly hasn't been updated for many a year. ||* Soundproofing from the room was horrendous. No I do not wish to listen to the poor house cleaners doing their job. The door in particular was very thin.||||Summary - ||||This hotel just strikes me as totally unloved - it's a REAL in my opinion shame. ||Given the price - there are far better options in Kiev.||||It's up to this hotels owners what they want to do - nothing - or do what ultimately at some point requires doing - give the hotel some love and get it going properly.||||I would love to return in 2/3 years with the hotel all singing all dancing and the interior match the exterior.||||I would love to give this hotel 5/5. At the moment, I cannot.

Special and interesting architecture - don't miss to use the ramp (not stairs!) instead of the elevator. Breakfast only from 0800...and serving takes a while. Reception hall is a bit dark. Rooms are OK and clean. Reception staff very helpful and exceptionally friendly. Located close (within walking distance) to the famous Pechersk Lavra (a Kiev must see!), park of eternal glory and the motherland monument.

We were booked in here by our tour organiser, an expert on Soviet architecture, and it retains some elements of those times. It’s a bit faded but the rooms were adequate (the wifi was not), the breakfast quite ordinary but the staff were helpful, in a formal, no-smiling-ever Soviet way. Overall, we liked it, and its certainly a unique looking hotel.

Checked in for four nights on business. Room was on ground floor. Very dated. Absolutely nothing like the photos. Only one plug socket at far side of the room. Saturday evening we came back and there was a night club on the first floor and the hotel foyer was full of people drinking and the music was unbearably loud. The sound resonated all the way to our rooms. My colleagues on the next floor up were kept awake by people having sex in the hall. The music was still playing at 10am the next morning. The next day I was asked to check out and when I told them I had one more night of my booking left they tried to make me pay extra to stay otherwise I had to leave. Eventually got it sorted but it was still very worrying. I understand there is a language barrier but the staff don't talk to you like you're a guest you get spoken to as if you're an inconvenience. I would not recommend this hotel. Only plus side is the cafe next door which has great food.

I stayed here for one night to experience this local landmark. It's a truly impressive building. As a hotel it was very dated and could do with a refurb, however the room was clean and tidy. The staff were helpful too. The location is perfect for visiting Pechersk Lavra, the Holodmor Genocide museum and the Great Patriotic war museum. You also have Arsenalna metro stop a short walk away, and the fantastic Kyiv Food Market. My room on the 6th floor facing the Dnieper river offered good views, especially from the balcony, though it wasn't particularly warm. The heated aircon did a job but there was a slight chill when not in bed - I was visiting in January (the coldest month in the Ukraine I believe). I'd recommend visiting the hotel but just beware that it isn't particularly modern. As a side note, for anyone with access needs, poor mobility or using a wheelchair, the hotel has two lifts and because of the way the floors are designed, it's easy to get between floors. The floors are mostly connected by a spiral ramp.

Alas the maintenance is missing and due to the traffic rooms are noisy. Breakfast poorly prepared. The atmosphere is soviet in the worst sense despite efforts of the staff which is kind and helpful. Anyhow is in the downtown, very comfortable with public transports it is clean. I suggest to chose superior rooms whether available.

Salute is now very close to the point where its Soviet style accomondation will be very retro cool. But not yet.|Still, this is an okay hotel with very clean rooms, even if not of the latest decor style.|Our room was extremely clean, there's free wifi, minibar, hair dryer, water. And it seems like most of the rooms have balconies. Good service at the front desk. ||Breakfast was useless, not recommend. Bad coffee, out of almost all items.|There were two old elevators and only the other one was working. |The location is not the best, but there's a metro station within 5 min walk (the World' s deepest metro station that is)||The building is of interesting architecture. I recommend skipping the elevator ride once and experience "the stairs".
