Salvadonica (San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Tuscany) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Salvadonica is no mere castle hotel, but what in Tuscany they call a borgo — an entire village restored and rededicated to agritourism. Set in the Chianti countryside, outside of San Casciano, this 14th-century village now houses 30 rooms furnished in a contemporary style that’s a lively contrast with the well-preserved antique architecture. They range widely from the Economy room to some fairly lavish suites; all partake of the same luxe agriturismo experience; the hotel offers cooking classes, tours, tastings, and other leisure activities in addition to the main event: La Volpenera, a classic Tuscan restaurant serving, among other things, wine and olive oil from the borgo’s own vineyards and groves." - Tablet Hotels

The location of Salvadonica is so picturesque! We enjoyed the views, the pool, the restaurant, the wine and olive oil tasting and the cooking class and painting class available. You could walk the vineyards and watch a movie under the stars.| Luckily, these kept us busy for a while. We didn't realize without a car, we could go nowhere! A taxi would have to come from Florence, so the cost would be prohibitive. I wish we had been informed of this, but I take responsibility since I could have done more research. | The rooms were quite adequate and clean, though my room s (#20) bathroom seemed to have a venting problem because the sewer gasses were pretty awful. They had a scented oil in there but that didn't help. I liked the rooms location, so I didn't say anything until check out. They acted surprised which was funny because I've read this in other reviews. I believe only this room was affected.| The staff were efficient, but not overly friendly. The chef who gave us our cooking lesson was lovely, though.| If you stay here, have a car!! If you have a day off rain, you stay in your room and read a book if you don't

I can’t say enough about this property and all it has to offer. A wonderfully peaceful escape in the heart of Tuscany. The views are something dreams are made of. |The cooking class was lots of fun and definitely a highlight of our stay. |The restaurant was simply superb. The food and wine were top notch and the waitstaff were only too eager to make your dining experience something you won’t forget.

Incredible views and very convenient location. Simple but cute bedrooms. Feels like a restaurant trying to accommodate an American clientele, so in my opinion not worth having a meal while you are in Tuscany. Will be back, but maybe only for a day, passing by.

After doing a LOT of research for a place to stay in Tuscany during our two-week trip to Italy, I booked Salvadonica and I am SO HAPPY we made that choice. It was the highlight of our trip (which is a high bar!) and exactly what our family was looking for - beautiful grounds, family / kid-friendly while still feeling elevated, comfortable + clean + nice rooms, **amazing** food + wine, and kind, helpful service. I have already told several people in my life they have to come here if they are heading to Tuscany, and I can't wait to return one day. If you are considering Salvadonica just book it and know you are heading somewhere truly special. Heaven on earth! The pool was perfect, the grounds (swings + slide / tennis / walking trails / bocce / outdoor movies / reading nooks etc) were fun to explore, we loved the cooking class and wine / olive oil tasting, and we were happy just being at Salvadonica. We made the trip into Florence one day (super easy!) and explored nearby towns for a few meals, but after the bustle of Rome and before we headed to Venice, we found a paradise in Salvadonica that exceeded any expectations we had. Don't think twice and book!

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Salvadonica! We rented a car in Florence and it was a quick 20 minute drive from the airport. Breathtaking views and such a beautiful property. The service on property is wonderful, too. We booked the picnic, wine tasting and cooking class as part of our stay and all were well worth the price. The picnic was a filling, three course meal with a bottle of wine. The sommelier who hosted our wine tasting was incredibly knowledgable and engaging. Chef Alessia and our cooking class was definitely a highlight of our whole time in Italy. She was fun, a great teacher and we made an incredible meal! If you are going to book any experience at Salvadonia - book that one. Rooms were spacious and the restaurant on property was delicious. We're already dreaming of a day when we can come back!

We stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. We rented a car from Florence and used this stay as a base to explore the surrounding wineries. It was a perfect place to get a taste of Tuscany. The views were amazing. The staff were so kind and the rooms were so clean and quiet. The grounds were beautiful. We didn’t get to swim or use the outdoor theater but they both looked amazing!

Incredible experience at Salvadonica... The absolute highlight of our stay was the Tuscan countryside surrounding the hotel, but the hotel is so beautilly designed with every respect for these surroundings. The food is very very high quality and as it has its own vineyards and winery, the drinks are excellent too. Very highly recommend Salvadonica, exceptional experience!

A lovely spot on top of a Tuscan hill with great views. The restaurant was very good, excellent breakfast with dinner a little less successful. The pool and pool area is fab with peaceful, amazing views. Overall a very well kept, tranquil place to spend a few days. Only disappointment was our room which despite being a deluxe room had no outside window and was very dark.
