Salvation Army's Red Shield Hotel, Mumbai

I love this place! I stayed here 30 years ago, and I was so happy that it is still there! I was so happy staying there again. I wish they would have answered my emails sooner, and maybe they don't have the exact same vibrancy that they had for backpackers 30 years ago, but the trip down nostalgia lane was exhilarating! I would say that they have moved more towards local Indian guests than backpackers, but that shouldn't stop any would-be Westerners from staying here like they did in the old days. They still have a nice little free breakfast, and you will have an opportunity to meet the Indian people themselves. It is also a good price, though they may consider coming down just a bit during off-season. Most people are not as concerned as I am for saving every rupee, and for those of you, the price will be great.

This hostel is the worst one which I have experienced ever, Caretaker is completely careless and never entertain your suggestions, they are looking for your booking, after booking the person treat you like strange. CCTV are not working, no water during bath, taps are broken, no jet sprey installed etc. It is in very unhygienic condition.

Good for reasonable price and for free bees as no restrictions for time

It is a hostel at a good location for travelers in Mumbai. Don't expect too much comfort, but it is still feasible for that cheap price. The staff is friendly and it is easy to meet other travelers when you stay in a dormitory.

Baget hotel in mumbai near taj hotel best place save money

Great location in Colaba across the street from Starbucks and if you need to go anywhere in the city there’s always taxi cabs outside waiting to take you anywhere for a cheap price. The hotel itself has different types of rooms depending on price range we stayed in a private two bed room with AC which was cool. The restaurant there has good food too, they also offer laundry services and anything you could need they would be glad to help. WiFi is good rooms are clean and location is awesome. I give red sheild Salvation Army a 9/10 I definitely recommend this place.|||| -sky

Salvation army failed to utilise this hotel located beside The Taj palace hotel Mumbai. Rooms was very dirty,no service provide by management and the behaviour of receptionist is so vulgar. Totally disappointed. But is location is good near the sea and beside Taj hotel Bad service And bad experience 😔😔😔

We stayed in this guest house for 3 nights. We stayed in one of the non AC rooms. The guest house is old and has no internet connection but despite of this, the location is perfect. It is 2 minutes walk to taj mahal palace and 5 minutes walk to the mumbai gate. rooms and hallways are spacious, sheets are clean, toilet is clean and breakfast is included (a cup of tea, bread and butter, jam, banana and egg). If you have a lot of money to burn, go ahead and find another place. Don't expect too much on this guesthouse they will only provide you the basics-bed and breakfast. If you are a backpacker and just needed a place to stay, red shield guest house is perfectly fine.
