It is a hostel at a good location for travelers in Mumbai. Don't expect too much comfort, but it is still feasible for that cheap price. The staff is friendly and it is easy to meet other travelers when you stay in a dormitory.

Salvation army failed to utilise this hotel located beside The Taj palace hotel Mumbai. Rooms was very dirty,no service provide by management and the behaviour of receptionist is so vulgar. Totally disappointed. But is location is good near the sea and beside Taj hotel Bad service And bad experience 😔😔😔

Great location in Colaba across the street from Starbucks and if you need to go anywhere in the city there’s always taxi cabs outside waiting to take you anywhere for a cheap price. The hotel itself has different types of rooms depending on price range we stayed in a private two bed room with AC which was cool. The restaurant there has good food too, they also offer laundry services and anything you could need they would be glad to help. WiFi is good rooms are clean and location is awesome. I give red sheild Salvation Army a 9/10 I definitely recommend this place.|||| -sky

We stayed in this guest house for 3 nights. We stayed in one of the non AC rooms. The guest house is old and has no internet connection but despite of this, the location is perfect. It is 2 minutes walk to taj mahal palace and 5 minutes walk to the mumbai gate. rooms and hallways are spacious, sheets are clean, toilet is clean and breakfast is included (a cup of tea, bread and butter, jam, banana and egg). If you have a lot of money to burn, go ahead and find another place. Don't expect too much on this guesthouse they will only provide you the basics-bed and breakfast. If you are a backpacker and just needed a place to stay, red shield guest house is perfectly fine.

We stayed at salvation army many times in the past while travelling and only once had a problem with bed bugs. The place has not changed in the past 15 years, hence full of great memories and nostalgic experience. We have returned again as a nearby hotel messed up our booking and needed accommodation for one night. Looked around and found very poor choices in this area for a budget of 8000 rupees for one night. The Hotel Diplomat next door (Just behind the Taj) offered the same room as the salvation army super deluxe a.c. family room (INR 3500), only with matching sheets and a price tag of INR 7650 for a night. If money is an issue you get a superb location with security and kindness for a very low price in Mumbai, however you have to compromise on comfort. We had a great time in our spacious room with our 2 kids for 1 night.|

The Salvation Army Red Shield Guest House located next to the Taj and extremely close to the Gateway of India is one of the cheapest and most decent lodgings you can get in Mumbai. The Guest House provides double and single rooms both AC and Non AC and family rooms for a max five people. Both Indian and continental food is also provided with a fixed daily menu. There is also provision for lockers and left luggage. I walked into the Guest House on my recent trip to Mumbai, while waiting for my wife and kids who had gone around the Taj and was pretty impressed with the responsive staff and clean surroundings. The place looked and felt clean. Worth a try on a next visit.
