My go to cafe for months now. Simple cafe in a really quiet location. Charming and relaxing. Not often it is busy so it’s a nice place to sit and chill. Food and coffees are great, pretty much everything a cafe needs to be is done well.

Google
The full English breakfast was clearly entirely or in part reheated in a microwave. After eating more than 6 English breakfasts in the UK this week, this has to be the worst. The French toast was excellent tho… the prices advertised outside are lower than the prices inside. There’s also a service charge when you pay.

Amazing food! It was my first time visiting Bath and this place was absolutely lovely. The staff was friendly. The vegetarian English breakfast was top! I recommend!

Came in for breakfast and it was busy, food was great and the staff were friendly. Ordered 2 full English breakfasts and they were just what we needed after a night of drinking. I think that was one of the nicest breakfasts I have had in a while, bacon was spot on!! Highly recommend

We called in for a breakfast before visiting the Christmas Market having looked at Google reviews for ‘best breakfast in Bath’. After comparing menus we chose Same Same - mainly due to the prices and also because they offered a full English unlike many of the other rated cafes reviewed which only had breakfast baps, etc. My full English was lovely - the chipolatas were truly tasty and the bacon was cooked to perfection. The black pudding was one of the best I’ve had and the mushrooms tasted like they had been properly cooked in butter. All in all with the inclusion of tea or coffee (I chose the tea which was good) this was very reasonably priced. My wife had the eggs Benedict which came with the same bacon and what tasted like a home made hollandaise sauce. The poached eggs were cooked well - firm on the outside, runny inside. The flat white my wife had was also top notch. The atmosphere was just right - relaxed and friendly and the service was also friendly. I highly recommend Same Same if you find yourself in need of a hearty breakfast right in the heart of Bath.

Had a lovely breakfast here, home made gluten free toast was excellent. Service was fast and staff friendly, could not have asked for more.

Yelp
Unpretentious atmosphere and incredible food. A lot of detail to textures and flavors, we really enjoyed our meal here. I got the Brie and Bacon sandwich and it was exceptional. Would recommend this place over and over againx

Yelp
Same Same But Different was on my short list of places to visit for brunch during my trip to Bath; from the rave reviews across every platform and the stunning food photos, I knew I had to check it out. The space itself has a hipster casual vibe, which is definitely a scene I'm comfortable in. Lots of wood and dark colors and fun light fixtures, there's even a few tables outside (but good luck snagging those during even remotely nice weather!). It's a relaxed atmosphere that's great for groups of friends, breakfast dates, or solo travelers looking to hide in a corner and study. If you're a fan of a bloody mary, definitely be sure to get one here! Unfortunately, in my opinion, both the food and the service were tremendously disappointing. I'll start with the former: I ordered the Vegetarian Breakfast that comes with a fried egg, grilled halloumi, mushrooms, baked beans, grilled tomato, spinach and hashbrowns. According to the menu, there's also unlimited toast and tea (or americano) when no substitutions, but neither of those options were apparently available to me. The food itself was plentiful, but unmemorable (and bland) compared to similar breakfasts I've had elsewhere. And the staff was, for lack of a kinder word, rude. Dismissive, too. It was actually the worst service I had during my entire trip, and it stinks when a place stands out for that, but that's what I'm gonna remember from SSBD.

Yelp
Four of us had breakfast here this morning: French toast, granola, scrambled eggs with chorizo - all awesome! Great service as well.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Delicious food, very attentive wait service. It's easy to see why this is a popular place.

Yelp
I love it when Yelp recommends local restaurants like this one that you wouldn't ever find if you are doing a quick tour of Bath. Tucked away on a side street off of George Street, Same Same offers great food, ambiance, and welcoming staff. The restaurant has so much natural lighting that we got to enjoy the summer sun inside without the chill. The restaurant offers sandwiches on its menu and tapas on the chalkboard. We had been traveling since 8 am that morning on a tour so we were quite keen to try the tapas. We shared 7 tapas between the two of us (and left feeling our jeans slightly too tight). The standouts were the Spanish tortilla, which was warm, soft, and delicate, as well as the Harissa with honey chicken and feta mash. What a great idea - mashed potatoes with feta instead of milk! Can't wait to try this at home. We loved these dishes so much we ordered them again. Stop by, and you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Fantastic find for lunch. You wouldn't know it from the outside but this spot is a temple to great casual food but at very affordable prices. Steak sandwich (5/5) - The meat was perfectly cooked and still very tender. The horseradish sauce wasn't overpowering at all. The wheat bread was perfectly soft and fluffy. It didn't feel too heavy like I was worried. I was looking around and saw a lot of beautifully made tapas. The chef clearly takes pride in his/her work here.

Yelp
Our B&B host recommended this restaurant and we were, I think, lucky to get a table. It's quite small and he said that it's normally pretty packed but I guess we timed it perfectly and were seated without a booking on a Thursday evening around 6:30pm. Dinner was fantastic. I ordered a variety of tapas and my husband had the hamburger which was delicious. I had the Spanish chicken stew with chorizo, the crispy pork belly, the Cornish sole goujons and lamb meatballs. They were all terrific. The pork belly was the best I've ever had.

Yelp
We came, we saw, we brunched. Same Same But Different was the locale for a goodbye gathering for our group of friends abroad. Well-prepared food at good value. Comfortable decor that could just as easily accomodate a first date as it could cup over cup of Americanos partnered with the paper. Organized service for large parties, though I think anything over 15 people would be pushing it for a resto this size. Highlights: Bottomless toast with your brunch plate - the perfect vehicle to fill up on the deliciousness that is British butter. Isn't bad mimosa an oxymoron? You deserve it.

Yelp
I took an advise for choosing two dishes from a staff and the taste of sandwiches was addictive. It was a very new taste for me but I liked it a lot, although I really regret eating the second dish (something like beans and porks)...The staffs are nice. highly recommend

Yelp
We were looking for a local café to have a late breakfast / early lunch in, and a shop owner recommend this spot. I am so glad we went. The café is inviting and cozy and has a European café ambience. The space is small, but comfortable. This is a family-run restaurant, and was founded in 2002. I was curious about the unique name. They mentioned it was a popular saying in Asia that means while their ambience is a relaxed casual café, they are different in having a passion for creating quality food experiences. Everything on the menu is made from scratch in their kitchen. They use only locally sourced ingredients, which means the menu is seasonal and changes often. I loved that they had a breakfast and brunch menu that went until 4pm on the weekend! My friend ordered a burger with chips and I chose a breakfast sandwich - similar to an eggs benedict. The food was delicious! Everything tasted fresh and was full of flavor. The chips were of course heaven. I couldn't resist I took some from my friends plate! They had a great selection of local ciders, so I tried one. It was very good. Also, their coffee was very good. Don't miss that! In the evenings you can enjoy dinner here. They have a wine list, and offer a tapas focused menu. I hope to return to Bath and experience their dinner here.

Yelp
Very cute atmosphere I had Eggs Picante which were excellent. I'm originally from Louisiana and loved the Tabasco addiction to this dish. It's cute, accessible and centrally located and had a local vibe! I'd come back here regularly for breakfast if I lived here.

Audra M.

Yelp
Service is friendly and the atmosphere peaceful. Stopped in for dinner after a long day of traveling! Was very happy with my experience! I love that they offer so many tapas I was able to try a little bit of a few of their dishes! They also serve a few desserts that looked tempting, however I was too full from my meal. They also offer breakfast and lunch menus. May have to visit again while in Bath!

Yelp
I've had the quinoa - halloumi burger, it was fast, delicious, and everyone's been nice and smiling. Highly recommanded, would definitely go back again.

Yelp
What a find! This little cafe has great tapas -- we ordered a very creative and well executed chicken wings w/ pesto and garlic and chips with a spicy sauce. Then we each had sandwiches -- chicken, Mediterranean veggies, and egg sandwiches. Each was creative, original, and off the charts yummy and featured homemade sauces. We washed it down with homemade sangria and followed our lunch with tea, cappuccino, and homemade marble cake w/ chocolate sauce drizzled on top. Everything was so delicious that talk of the food dominated our lunchtime conversation. Our server was attentive and timely. The owner shared his sangria recipe with us -- we can't wait to make it for friends at home in the US. Five stars because we'd absolutely return and we'd recommend this little cafe and all its warmth and ambience and yummy everything to our friends and fellow Yelpers.

Yelp
Someone in a shop recommended that we eat lunch here, and I'm so glad they did! It's a cute little restaurant, looks almost like a cafe. A handful of tables, menu on a chalkboard, very relaxed atmosphere. They have a great menu of small plates, large plates, and sandwiches, each sounding more tempting than the last. My fiance and I shared the sausages over lentils, cannellini beans, and chorizo, and the beef brisket sandwich with rocket, caramelized onions, and tomato. Everything was just fantastic. The sausages were a hit around the table - just delicious, a homey, hearty dish that was outstanding on a cold and drizzly day. We want to cook this dish at home! The beef brisket was incredibly tender, though the bread got soggy fast. I also got a little side salad that was full of veggies, a nice treat since side salads can be pretty disappointing sometimes. Props to the servers who carry the food up and down a spiral staircase from the kitchen! We all loved our meal and would highly recommend this place to anybody seeking great, inspired food in Bath.

Yelp
Hurrying through Bath in an attempt to find respite from the torrential rain, we were desperately seeking a cosy cafe in which to while away a few hours. Although our clothes were getting steadily wetter, we were determined that this cafe would not be a chain, it would be a little bit interesting, it would add something to our Bath experience. Lucky us, we stumbled upon Same Same But Different. A tastefully decorated cafe with accommodating purple walls and wacky abstract paintings, cosy alcoves in which to sit and truly excellent coffee. Although we only stopped for our coffees (I really can't stress how excellent they were enough), the menu displayed proudly on the wall almost drew me away from the restaurant reservation we had made elsewhere for the evening. Relaxed and cosy by day, with good coffee, good food, good art and good music, Same Same But Different goes the extra mile and morphs into a casual restaurant by night. Lit by candles and serving up wholesome, hearty but flavoursome food, there's also a full bar to keep you going all night long. Why, after all, would you ever leave?

Yelp
Unlike a faceless corporation frequented by the general hoypoloy all honking for muffins and skinny-double-decaff mochafrappachinos, Same Same is a unique, charming and interesting, independently-run, multi-award-winning little bolt-hole with an atmosphere that makes one feel almost as though one is visiting the home of a distant relative one actually likes. It is warm and friendly and blends the rustic with the contemporary much as in the same way the chef has blended some parsnips with a few beans to make today's rather tasty soup. A cafe throughout the day serving breakfasts, lunches and afternoon tea, Friday and Saturday evenings see the place transformed into an intimate and, dare I say it: romantic, almost Parisian-like tapas bar and restaurant evidently-absent of booze-fuelled, curry-guzzling chavs. As a particular aficionado of caffeine-related beverages I have long been confident that Same Same serves some of the best cups of coffee around. But it is not only this making it the popular haunt for students, professionals and visitors to the city alike, for the menu is excellent and the task of providing something just that little bit special is accomplished so very well indeed. Each of the menus are well-balanced and tell it like it is: with dishes tending to escape being referred to as drizzled with anything, and rarely accompanied by a coulis or a jus. I believe that the majority of the food is locally-sourced, organic (particularly if it serves a purpose other than lining the pockets of champagne socialists), and often fair-trade, and green things are also available for anyone unappreciative of the fact that animals taste nice. Personally, on a previous occasion I found the 'macaroni and cheese topped with roasted mushrooms and homemade hazelnut pesto' as pleasant as a hug, while more recently the 'Wiltshire cured ham, toasted Somerset brie and oven-roasted tomato' sandwich left me wondering whether Karma would later that afternoon drop a piano on my head. It didn't. The tapas menu features such culinary delights as 'honey-roast root vegetables' and 'baked Moroccan meatballs' in a tomato sauce that isn't ketchup, and a 'chorizo glazed in cider with green beans and almonds' dish is as much of a delight as something else served with the cheese of a goat. Each of these, together with the items on the main, breakfast and sandwich menus, add-up to a feeding experience almost as enjoyable as receiving a rebate on one's tax. Service-wise, I have always found it exceptional, but it is not the new El Bulli and therefore minor, one-off imperfections are inevitable... one example being the occasion, a year or so back, when a staff member caught a sneezing fit and threw my coffee across the floor. But that was funny and, like I said, these things are minor in light of the overall experience of spending time at Same Same; whether that time is spent dining with friends, having a meeting about world domination and the like, reading a book such as No stranger to the P45, or simply pondering the number forty-two. Fiscally-speaking, Same Same is not the cheapest of establishments although neither is it expensive. It provides all-round value-for money whether you have a hangover of a morn and need a wonderfully-therapeutic cooked breakfast, or you wish to impress a romantic interest with your knowledge of places that don't leave you feeling a little like you've just been fed from a trough. Same Same can be found at the lower end of Bath's Bartlett Street, a small, cobbled and rather busy thoroughfare connecting George and Milsom Streets with their good friend, Alfred. Here, as well as enjoying coffee or tea you can eat breakfast and cake, sip booze and dine very finely indeed.

Yelp
On a hunt to find a 'non-chain' restaurant for a relaxed lunch we found Same Same But Different tucked away off the main shopping parade in Bath. It was really chilled out in this cafe/restaurant and filled with all different types of people. The staff were really smiley and friendly. The food choices were extensive, you could have just a coffee, tapas, sandwiches or something more substantial. I had the kedgeree main which was very tasty and fresh. My boyfriend had the steak brisket sandwich (bit messy but lush) with a side of chips...this was a big man portion! We had soft drinks and the total came to less than £25. Bargain! I would have loved to try the desert menu but I was to full so next time! The grilled banana bread with caramelised bananas and coconut creme fraiche sounded yum!

Sarah G.

Yelp
Amazing food!! I had the beef burger with the fries. My friend had the halloumi mushroom burger. Both were so fantastic! Great service and cute atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Michelle J.

Yelp
Went for dinner - so amazing! It is small, kind of tucked away but well worth it. The staff are very attentive and the food is so yummy! Try the Ox Tail - it is unique but very tasty. My friend had the portabello burger and she said it was amazing!

Shari L.

Yelp
Lovely nice place which makes you relaxed. Delicious coffee and breakfast, with warm and careful service.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast....if you get there early! That's not really a negative I guess but it is if you can't get in! Great food. Would recommend.

Tom B.

Yelp
Nice place, great vibe. Food is good! Sometimes closed off for entire parties. Nice to sit and have a pint on a side street though!

Craig M.

Yelp
Yum! The spicy poached egg breakfast was delicious. Coffee was tasty. Waitress was very friendly. Not too crowded when I went at 9:30am. Located on a small alley off the Main Street.

Barbara S.

Yelp
I wandered into this homey place today for a late lunch, and tried their slow overnight cooked brisket sandwich on a baguette with Carmelized onions. In a word, yum. If I lived in Bath this would be a regular haunt for me.

Chris B.

Yelp
Same Same is a real treat - the chilled out and spacious atmosphere feels like you are at your own breakfast table with mates; the unlimited Americanos can be abused to pick you up after far too few hours of sleep on a Saturday night; the tea comes in cool little pots and the milk in quirky mini milk bottles. Then, the lines of spirits behind the counter pull you back from wonderland to remind you the sins of last night - I need more coffee. Looking around there's the young family doing well to keep the shriek of babies from our fragile ears, the studying student - notes strewn over the table - making you feel both guilty and inspired, the readaholic, the various couples, and us - the casualties of the night before. Far from same same really anyone could walk through the door and feel right at home. Oh and the breakfast - a solid full english with black pudding. It's great. Why would you go for anything else?

Mark S.

Yelp
Superb service and really good food. A great place to catch your breath and relax with a glass of wine after pounding the streets of Bath

Ryan P.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast and enjoyed eggs on toast and the muesli with yogurt and fruit. They also have a nice selection of dishes including English breakfast, Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine. Simple, but delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and a great stop for a meal. They also have a nice selection of teas and other drinks.

Mr. C.

Yelp
Hung up on me when I asked if it would be proper to eat her for something quick. Lady receiving phone spoke poor English and hung up without even trying to understand what I was saying.

Nancy S.

Yelp
We had a delicious lunch there today. I had a vegetable and goat cheese sandwich on tasty bread. The sandwich interior was made from vegetables, a pesto sauce and warm goat cheese that was incredibly flavorful. It was served with a petite salad with a mustard vinaigrette. Husband had a ham and taleggio cheese on whole wheat that was also unusually good. The place is cute and quiet - perfect for a midday break.

Yelp
Good coffee, especially if you're looking for somewhere that's non-chainy (i.e. not Starbucks, Costa etc), with a bit of atmosphere and some watch-the-world-go-by charm.

Remy V.

Yelp
Great tapas bar tucked away from the busier streets. Great food and very pleasant service. Highly recommended!

Andrea G.

Yelp
Delicious place. The food was amazing. They had the best mushroom soup with brussel sprouts. Their side salad is great, with lots of veggies. Also had a great Med veg sandwich, with great bread, and wonderful chai latte. One of the best places in the UK so far.

Yelp
Really glad we came across this little gem - We went for dinner on a saturday night as we were staying at the Travelodge opposite and we didn't want to go to any of the nearby chains you get everywhere. This place was slightly hidden up a small road but was packed when we got there, we had a drink (a nice white rioja)and olives outside and waited about 20 mins before we moved inside. It has all it's menu on a 8 foot blackboard, with tapas (about 9 or 10 choices) and main dishes, puddings and sides. We had 5 tapas between us which came on a big platter dish, really beautiful and colourful. we were tempted to go for the mains, as the guys risotto looked yummy, but felt like nibbling. tapas was gorgeous, all homemade and full of flavour. finished the lot although we were stuffed. bit annoyed as i was hoping to try the choc-coffee fondant! The meal came to about £35 - really reasonable. Went back in the morning for breakfast as T-Lodge don't do any. The same 2 girls were working and remembered us (maybe coz we left a nice tip!) - breakfast was delish too - had to wait about 15 mins for our cooked brekkie but I would definitely rather wait and have a breakfast that's cooked to order! Really lovely independent place, great intimate atmosphere and welcoming, attentive service. Spot on!! We'll be back!

Yelp
Cute little café, excellent service. Had a delicious organic hot chocolate, and banoffee pie. I will go back.
