I came into the city for a meeting so I was looking for a fairly priced, clean, cozy, safe, and close enough stay to my main destination. The deal price was fair as it was a very short distance from the bus stop that goes straight to/from the airport plus it's rather centrally located to the many events downtown. Park Ave is also a nice walk to get to, or a quick taxi ride. The staff were very kind and polite, speaking in English to better help me. The private room was quiet and I felt safe to be there. The air conditioning unit was so helpful, but it is loud so light sleepers may not want to use it. The bed was comfortable and cozy - I also really appreciated the little shelf next to it to place my phone and smaller items at night. I tried out the TV but couldn't figure out the sound or captions, though I'm sure it is possible to activate. The only real flaw, the toilet was inconsistent with water flow, at one point it almost didn't have enough water in the bowl to flush. Overall, when I come into Montreal for short stays this will be top of my list to stay.

Wow I just loved this place and it really made me appreciate hostel culture for its community. I was able to come in late and the check-in process was extremely easy. There is a communal kitchen and lounge area, but I lucked out and got a suite that had a jacuzzi and small sitting area as a desk. It was a great comfortable place to hang my head for a few nights. Coffee and water were readily available. Drinks at the communal bar were surprisingly affordable to just be steps away from your room. The room was surprisingly quiet. Insanely good value for where it is in the city.

Excellent room for the price. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but putting the comforter under the fitted sheet made it much better. A/C worked very well. Continental breakfast was good. Great location, close to Metro and lots of restaurants near. Very quiet at night. Lots of electrical outlets for charging devices.

Room was small, entered through the bathroom to get to the bed. Comfortable beds (after I put comforter under the fitted sheet). Great air conditioning, decent continental breakfast, great IPA served in the bar. Decent shared kitchen facilities. Very quiet at night. Convenient location and close to Metro (even though there was a strike). Definitely stay again.

Service was excellent. Laundry is 8 dollars and they do it for you. Towels are free. Stayed in the 4 person mixed room. Beds are comfortable. Very clean. Shower and bath is in the room. Free coffee, orange juice and water. Full kitchen. Great part of town as a major train station is right next door.

The hostel lobby is nice but I barely slept due to an extremely loud snorer. I guess that’s just the luck of the draw. The breakfast was okay. Nice that they offer it. You have to make your own bed which can be tricky when you arrive at night and have a top bunk which I did.

I stayed in a private double for 2 nights. It was reasonably priced and in a nice location. The room was clean and I was satisfied with my stay. This may not be the place for everyone - there are a lot of people coming and going all hours of the night, but it didn't bother me at all. I think my room might have been above a kitchen area because it smelled good the entire time. Great location right near the metro stop. Front desk was nice and helpful. I appreciate that the building was locked and I needed a keycard to enter - I felt safe. I would stay again in the future.

The private room with 2 beds is located in the basement. Not much ventilation Nd the smell of mold made my friend who has asthma had to cut her trip short. We asked for another room and they said that was the only room with 2 beds. |Floor was dirty and toi much dust. |The staff is nice and very helpful. |Breakfast didnt have much available for peole with gluten and lactose intolerance.

Yelp
Best hostel I have lived in so far. I was in Montreal for solo trip so decided to stay in a hostel and Samesun had great reviews so went with this one. It's extremely clean and hygienic. Staff is very friendly too and there is a bar in the common area which has nice only two beers from local breweries but of them of are my favorite now. Location is great too. I would go there again!

Yelp
Good location, excellent staff, reasonable prices, and clean. Yazan and the other front desk staff were cool and very helpful, and have locks for sale if you need them. Free coffee and tea all day, big patio out front for smoking, and walking distance to metro stops and other things. About $40 CAD per night. The only thing I might recommend is maybe adding some protein at breakfast, like eggs or something. Breakfast is the only reason I'm taking off 1 star but other than that awesome place.

Yelp
Soft Beattles music playing in the open checkin/common space. Already two thumbs up. Paul Simmons. Others 60s and 70s mixes. Any place that plays some rare, some well-known 60s tunes sits high in my regards! I booked rooms for my mother and I to stay for 4 days while in Montreal @ Montreal Central. We love hostels - a fabulous way to meet people from all around the world, and sleep affordably. This hostel has several rooms with different bed counts. Private, female-only, male-only, and some coed. For just over $50 per nite, we slept in a private two-double-beds room. It has its own bathroom attached. Yes, it has a cable tv, but there was no need to stay in an watch shows. This city was too amazing to waste our time indoors. There's an open common room with several communal tables. A really nice outdoor patio area. The kitchen is rather small, but all updated appliances. Each room gets new bath towels every day, not to mention housekeeping in general. Check in/out is smooth as butter. The staff are amazing. Ludo checked us in, and every day we saw the same familiar faces working throughout the day/nite. They are well aware of what's going on in the city. Have any questions or need advice, they're your go-to. The hostel has their own events going on throughout the weeks: Free city walking tours to specific areas around the island, cookouts at the hostel, etc. This hostel is not a certified Hostelling International hostel, however they are on top of their game. The awesome location - smack in the middle of the Latin Quarter, and on the campus of UQAM (University of Quebec at Montreal), you can't ask for a better place to lay your head!

Yelp
I found out about hostels when I took a trip to Chicago so upon booking my trip to Montreal I decided to go that route again. I did a search and Samesun (Montreal Central on Yelp) came up along with a few other hostels. In doing my search online,  the prices sounded fair, daily breakfast was served and they have a pool table! (I'm a pool shooter so this was a plus). I called to ask a few questions and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. Once I arrived in Montreal, it's an easy route getting to the hostel. Literally a 2min walk. Check-in was easy. Room: I had the double bed and private bath. The room was a little smaller than expected but you're not in the room other than to sleep and get dressed so it wasn't a big deal. Housekeeping came daily and did a good job for the most part but I had a slight concern regarding towel changes. The beds were comfy but the comforter was super thin. Staff should also look into changing the comforter more often. Other than that,  there were no concerns. There is a window unit AC that is self-controlled. The room is generally pretty cool so windows can be opened during the day if you choose not to use it. Food: Breakfast is served daily (waffles, OJ, muffins, etc.) from 7-9. The freshly cooked muffins smell AMAZING. There is also a kitchen area if you want to cook or warm up food that closes daily at 10pm. One day I walked in and they were serving grilled hamburgers with all the fixings for a $5 charge. It tasted ok. There is a bar but I didn't get any booze so I'm unsure what's served or the hours. I did notice they had a few beers on tap. In the dining area there are plenty of seats and TV's. A vending and soda machine and 2 computers are all located in the lobby. One evening after dinner I came in and wanted to shoot some pool. I called down to the front desk to ask there where it was located and the guy responded "I wish we had a pool table.." Uh, what?! I was slightly disappointed as this is one of the reasons I chose to stay here. In additon, it shouldn't be included on their website as that is misleading. They have daily activities such as a beach party,  game night, Montreal tour, etc. The best part is the location and how convenient the hostel is to the station and different bus stops. Everything is literally in walking distance. Dennis St has majority of your restaurants, cinema and a few shopping centers. It seems there are a lot of festivals in Montreal so the festival near Samesun was a back to school fest called OUMF where they had different art stations, rock climbing, their version of Plinko (from the Price Is Right gameshow), musical events & different artists who performed. Directly across from Samesun was a park where there was also entertainment, food & activities. If you need a a corner store/pharmacy,  Jean Contu is about 2 blocks away as well as a grocery store that's right next to it. There's tons of restaurants, shops, fast food joints, etc. all around.  Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend lodging here if you're looking for a reasonable place to stay in a great location. Most of the residents were young, about ages 21-30 but I did notice a few elderly couples who were also backpacking.

Yelp
514, what a sincere pleasure it was to see, smell, taste, hear and touch you again. Very affordable and choicely adjacent to the Metro (Beri-Uqam Station - which serves the Orange, Green and Yellow lines) and major bus terminal, Montreal Central is an excellent choice for a hostel. It's one block away from Rue St. Catherine and within a 7-9 minute walk to the theatre (place de arts), 'red light district' and shopping area. My particular booking was for 2 nights, Friday check-in/Sunday check-out. I was expecting to be joined by up to 5 guests in my room, but upon entering it was just me. One descent sized room for 6 all to myself! I should've thrown a damn party. The bathroom (or washroom in Canadien terms) is within the room, so no need to run thru the hallways in your towel. They also offer complimentary continental breakfast QAM (every morning) between 7-10am. Customer Service: After checking out of MC, I realized I misplaced my baseball gloves within the last 12 hours of being in MTL, and returned to ask Myriam (receptionist) to take a look into my booked room and see if it was left behind. Her search came up empty, and my hands were left susceptible to germs on the Metro. 7 days later, I got an email from her stating that she found a pair, and asked if they belonged to me. I didn't leave my name or contact number, but she must've remembered which room I was in and did a little detective work to locate my contact info. What a fuckin' buttercup! Though the gloves she found didn't belong to me, shout out to mon cheri Myriam for remembering me and reaching out to seek its owner. YOU alone are the reason for the 5th star in my review, and to top it off you're cute as hell. Merci bien! Go Bruins! -Beantowns Finest

Yelp
Looked forward to staying here for a quick inexpensive stay. Booked after 3pm on Airbnb. At 7pm I took a COVID test out of caution and tested positive so I canceled to be considerate of anyone else staying there since the rooms are shared. Inquired about a refund and they refused since the cancellation was after 3pm. Even though the reservation was made after 3pm. "Sorry about your COVID". Do not stay here. They would have preferred I showed up with COVID.

Yelp
I'm super impressed. At first I was scared as hell , listen I'm from jersey we don't have hostels. The only hostels I've ever heard abut were in movies , and those are scary! So when my mom told us we were staying here I thought she was out of her mind. But FEAR NOT , Montreal Central is a cool little hostel/hotel. And for what you get you can NOT beat their price point. The location is super ideal for anyone who likes to be close to the downtown area and only a block away from the metro. You see people come and go everyday here , everyone is friendly. They even have activities everyday of week. Some of them are free and some of them are paid. The staff was so nice and helpful , they gave us so much advice on where to eat like a local where to go clubbing etc etc. Now with all good comes bad .. unfortunately. my only qualms about the place is that they should make the rooms as nice as the lobby and downstairs area. The vents in the air condition units you can tell have not been cleaned in years. It leaves the room stink. My particular room was shared with 3 other girls and their feet stink , so because the room was so small all you smell is stink feet. There was hair every where , which led me to believe that these hoes was sleeping in my bed when I wasn't there. But none of my property was stolen thankfully. I left my computer in the room everyday. I had no lock on my locker and nothing was ever out of place. I did carry my wallet and passport around with me everywhere I never let that out of my sight. I suggest you don't either. I did bring my own sheets and blankets and pillows along with me and was glad I did. The sheets were super basic the pillow was as flat as a piece of trident gum. Again this is not the Marriott so don't expect anything luxurious. But other than that I had a blast and I will most certainly stay here again and again. I do have a best kept secret about this place but I won't tell it ! *sorry not sorry* #selfish

Yelp
The beautiful man at the window named Julies (mr. Christmas), was an angel in my life. He bakes me and my 12 children some cookies and then proceeded to read ya all a bedtime Christmas story. I've. Ever in my life felt such fantastic customer service. Truly changed my life.

Yelp
1. Cheap - low rates for rooms and everything is included (linens, towels, wi-fi, continental breakfast). 2. Amazing service - friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. 3. Conveniently located - very easy to drive to via the Jacque-Cartier bridge and there's a cheap (12$/day) parking garage 100 meters down the road. Around the corner (again, less than 100 meters away!) is the Berri-UQAM metro (an important hub in the Montreal metro system). 4. Clean! - maids come through every day with fresh towels and to give every room a vacuum/swiffer. I've stayed here twice and have no complaints. I'd stay here again without hesitation.

Yelp
I stayed for 6 nights. Hostel is clean, The staff is very helpful and professional, and the bar is the best out of all hostels. Oh, and the breakfast is better than most hostels. If I ever return to Montreal, I would definitely stay at Samesun.

Yelp
A++++ Hostel! Can I give it an 11 instead of a 10? Why, you might ask? For starters, the amenities were amazing for a Youth Hostel. They provided free towels, a mini fridge in-room, free coffee 24-7, and free breakfast (which was pretty good, croissants, toast, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, ect.) In addition, the rooms were quiet and clean, and there are plugs next to every bed (because they know if you're staying at a Youth Hostel, you're likely addicted to you phone.) The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The day we got there, Alex sat with me and told me about 20 places to eat and things to do in the city. They also gave us details about the bike tours from the hostel (highly recommend that, our tour guide Axel was amazing!) The amenities, combined with the fiendliness of the staff and hostel location make this a place you must stay when visiting Montreal!

Yelp
SCHUCKS!! I totally forgot to take pictures of this place while I was there. Anyhow!! I had a lovely time staying here and whenever--because I will--make another trip to Montreal, I'll definitely be staying here again. Here's why: Staff: The staff were so friendly, hospitable, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about the city of Montreal. I got into Montreal at 3am and one of the guys (Ben) let us stay in the lounge area, let us leave our bags till our room was ready at 2pm while we toured the city and we were able to have coffee and/or tea. All the staff were extra cool and were always attentive when we needed something. I forgot the cleaning ladies name but she is a Black lady who was super nice and kept our room immaculate and sanitary. Tip that woman. Hostel/services/activities: The hostel has a very homely, college dorm, vibe. Everyone is lounging around in the main lounge area or in the front or back patios, getting to know one another, drinking, eating, whatever. Its very laid back There's free breakfast between 7am-10am everyday and there's A LOT of food, so I recommend you take advantage! Plus, you'll save money. There's wi-fi, a bar, a tiny kitchen that's open from 10am-10pm. and if you want you can get new linen and towels everyday. But don't act like you do because you don't even get new linen and towels at home. The place is pretty immaculate and I hadn't had any sanitary issues for the 4 days I was there. HMC also host some fun activities for the people in the hostel and the employee's to get to know each other and bond on their journey's. There's walks around Montreal, trivia game nights and more. Location: HMC is located in a very central and perfect area. Right off of Berri UQAM station which connects to almost every other train station, around the corner from the bus terminal, 2 blocks away from Stereo Night club, Gay Street and close to many other bars, clubs and shops. The location is simply perfect. Price: The prices are located on the website but I promise you its very reasonable and inexpensive. Of course, if you get a private room (with a your own bathroom) you'll pay more but even a private room isn't so expensive. Your wallet won't be raped. If you're looking for a great Hostel to stay at, you really can't go wrong with this place. The service, the staff, the location is on point and there's plenty of fun to be had. SHOUT OUT: I want to make a special shout out to my homies Tebow (yes, pronounced like the football player) and Alexander who works at HMC at the front desk. The guys were awesome and were more than happy to help me around the city and answers question I had. On top of that, they were awesome people period and fun to chat with. When I come here again, I hope to see you guys (if either of you are reading this), it would make my stay even better!

Yelp
The 5 stars are truly well deserved. The place is located right behind the central bus station and right next to the Berri-UQAM which is the main metro station. you can catch a bus or a metro to anywhere in Montreal by just walking a 100 ft from the hostel. You can get a weekly/daily/3day pass from the bus station and the neat thing is that the ONE pass is good all the time for multiple trips on the train, the bus and the metro! To get to the hostel from the airport; simply hop on the 747 bus which runs 24/7 and get off at the last stop. you will end up at the central bus station and the hostel is right around the corner. See..EASY..don't even need to read the sings or pay close attention to the names of the stop that your jet lagged minds will not comprehend unless you speak fluent french. The staff is EXTREMELY friendly and not in a desperately pleasing kind of way either. They will literally go out of their way to accommodate your reasonable needs and are very responsive to any problems you have while you are staying there. While the cleanliness level is not the same as a 5 star hotel it is on the top of my list for the cleanest hostels i've stayed at. They clean up every room every morning like clockwork and even give you fresh towels. The restrooms are inside the room so you end up sharing it with only the people in your room and not the ENTIRE hostel. The beds are very clean and they change the sheets every so often too. If you are looking to use their lockers be sure to bring your own either emall or medium sized locks. big locks will NOT fit the holes in the lockers they have. There is bar in the main lobby and definitely the place to hang to to meet other tourists. If you are traveling by yourself, with a group of friends or even as a couple and are looking to stay on the cheap I would highly recommend this place. Every Tuesday night the staff organizes for everyone staying at the hostel to go clubbing/dancing and they do a good job of making sure you are having fun. They have local DJs come and play every Friday night as well. It is also around the corner from St.Dennis which has good places to eat at that stay open late and 2 blocks from the bars on St.Katherine st.

Yelp
This was my second visit to this property, which has changed ownership since the first time I stayed there in 2015. Now known as Samesun, the hostel is an excellent choice for the budget conscious traveler. I stayed in a private room and it was clean and attractive with a modern and spotless bathroom. The location is fantastic with Metro practically at your door, as well as the aptly named 747 airport bus just a block away. It's a short walk to great bars and restaurants on hip and happening rue St. Denis. Also lots going on in the area during the summer months with terraces in the Village and outdoor concerts at the neighboring park,Place Émilie-Gamelin. The area in general is like any other in a city -- you will see homeless people and panhandlers but use common sense when walking around and you should not encounter a problem. The friendly and helpful staff at the hostel can provide lots of information to help you navigate Montreal like a pro! I left behind my ancient but still loved MP3 player and the staff quickly had it mailed to me in Boston. Two things that were not so great this time: scalding hot water from bathroom taps and worn-out towels. Also, pillows were quite hard. Still, I'm looking forward to returning in August!

Yelp
Okay, so this place confused me, but in the end I really enjoyed it. You can stay at this place as either a hotel (website above), or a hostel. The difference between the two comes in the room and the price. I stayed here as a hotel and got a "king" bed (really a double in American standards) and a private room with a luxurious bathroom. Now I'm not going to say private bathroom because there were actually no walls between the shower, jetted tub, and sink and the bedroom. There was luckily a door to the toilet area. Outside of the exposed bathroom, I really liked this place. Judging from what I saw of another customers receipt, staying here as a hostel (shared room - bunk beds) cuts the price in half. The hotel is located in the Latin Quarter of the city, right off of St-Catherine - the shopping street, and within walking distance to anything you would like to check out in downtown Montreal. The common indoor space consisted of a bar that was open until 3am, some high top tables, a small couch area with a TV, and 2 computers available for use - internet was free and available in the rooms as well. Outside there is a courtyard with picnic tables set up. breakfast is included in the room price with a selection of breads(croissants, muffins, waffles, bread) - all cooked on site (though some from frozen), hard boiled eggs, orange juice, and coffee and tea. The people who work here are young, good looking :) and really friendly. They are always smiling and happy to help you find something to do in Montreal. The clientele in general is young, as you can imagine with a hostel. There is no allotted hotel parking, but there are a few public parking garages in the area that will run you about $10 a day. Overall, though I didn't really know what to expect from a hotel/hostel, I really really liked staying here and I could see myself booking another hotel room here on my next visit to Montreal.

Yelp
First time staying at a Hostel and was worry about sharing rooms with strangers and the cleanliness of the rooms. Got to the hostel earlier then expected, the staffs were extremely friendly and helpful. They held our bags and we were offered free coffee and juice. (7-10am) My cousin and I stayed in a Female 4 bed room for one night. The room was simple, enough space for the four of us. The only complain would have to be the worn out beds, it's too soft. It's so soft that your lower back sinks into the mattress. Great location, amazing staff

Cameron W.

Yelp
Had an AIESEC retreat here with about 20 people; they served us so well! The hostel staff were very accommodating. The location was great (1 minute walk from a main metro station). The rooms themselves were great! The lounge was very relaxing. There was free self-serve hot chocolate and coffee. You could get alcohol from the bar in the lounge. Free towels were provided for showering. Best hostel I've been to so far!

Yelp
I stayed August 2-5 for a music festival (Osheaga) and had a great time at this hostel. The location was perfect, we were a short metro ride from the park where the festival was being held and within a half hour walk to all kinds of shopping (Centre Eaton, Chinatown). Complimentary breakfast in the morning was minimal but had the necessities --and since we were paying so little, any kind of free breakfast was a bonus. Staff were always friendly and helpful, and whoever chooses the music in the lobby area has great taste. This is a great place if you're looking to visit Montreal on a budget. Also, the mattresses in the rooms look thin but are actually sooo comfy!

Yelp
When I first arrived at the hostel the female staff was not very friendly, and seemed annoyed that I asked to see the room first. That is my only complaint. All the other staff were fantastic. The television stopped working but a staff came to my room right away to fix it. It took him awhile but he got it. Air-conditioning worked well, (which is very important), room was clean, brekkie was awesome, (maybe us real maple syrup, as it's Quebec), prices were reasonable, hostel was safe, free programs which I will utilize next time. Really close to the Gay Village, down town and the bus station.

Roza M.

Yelp
Amazing location (there are many restaurants, shops, grocery stores close by in walking distance), friendly helpful staff, free wifi, free breakfast (muffins, toast, juice, coffee, waffles, eggs, jam etc.), bedrooms are cleaned daily (beds are made, washrooms are cleaned, towels are replaced etc.) The room had a mini fridge and a television with many channels. Overall amazing service, definitely coming back here.

Candice C.

Yelp
This was the first hostel I've ever been to, and I mostly enjoyed my stay. Positives: + It is situated in the Latin Quarter and on the border of the Gay Village, making it a great place to be. It is two blocks from one of Montreal's main subway stations, Berri-UQAM. + Staff members are super friendly and helpful. + There are lots of activities here if you are alone or want to make friends. + Relatively quiet. Negatives: - Breakfast is really bad, especially the coffee and the juice - My private bedroom and bath had a half of a wall that separated the bathroom from the bedroom. Luckily I was with my girlfriend, so I didn't encounter too many privacy issues. If had gone with a friend, I would've been very uncomfortable. There was no advanced warning that this was a set up of the room. All in all, I would recommend stay here over picking any other expensive place located on the same block.

Meghan C.

Yelp
I've stayed in a fair amount of hostels across Europe and a few in the US and this was probably the best one I've ever been to. Most importantly, it's clean. The bathrooms are ensuite, not dorm style, so no lugging your shower stuff back and forth. They change towels every day which is pretty crazy, but awesome. There is also a mirror in the bedroom (for us girls that do our makeup every day, rejoice!) and outlets next to each bed so you don't have to argue about who's going to charge their phone next. There are lockers, too (BYO lock). Aside from the cleanliness and amenities, the hostel is also in an AWESOME location, right near lots of bars and restaurants and half a block from a metro station so it's super easy to get anywhere. It's actually not too bad of a walk from the historic Old Port either, if it's a nice day (about half an hour). The staff is super friendly. On Tuesday, they took everyone out to the Gay Village (right around the corner) to go clubbing. Plus there's a bar in the hostel, so it's really easy to meet people. Totally recommended, especially for solo travelers! Thanks guys!!

Yelp
Had a great stay here back in the spring. Location was the perfect walking distance for sightseeing, tons of restaurants, and nightlife! There is even a small bodega directly across the street. The free breakfast was definitely a great addition as well. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with our own bathroom, couch, queen bed, and flat screen television - and it was perfect. Though the biggest selling point may have been the bar set up in the common area. I will definitely look into staying again during my next visit.

Eleana M.

Yelp
Being greeted by the friendly employees was the perfect start to a great vacation. Definitely the highlight of this hostel is it's staff. Joshua was great at helping us find whatever we needed whenever, and even providing company to hang out when we weren't up to being out all night. My boyfriend and I booked the Standard Double Private Room which had a key card swipe that definitely made me feel safer with leaving valuables behind. The location also was phenomenal, literally around the corner from the Berri UQAM (which is a central station), and two streets over from the lively and energetic St. Dennis Street. Overall: Stay here! As a couple, we loved it, and it seemed the people staying in the dorm-like rooms were having a great time too. P.S. FREE BREAKFAST! P.P.S. BIODOME!

Griffin L.

Yelp
Great place. Comfortable beds, nice staff, and an amazing location. Lost my key card and they were very accommodating, replaced it with no hassle.

Yelp
I love Montreal Centrale. The best staff in the world and it's CLEAN. Yes, the dorms are 8 person both gender, but each room also has it's own bathroom that's cleaned daily. All linens are provided (sheet, blanket, towel) so it's a neat deal. The bar out front has drink specials for guests only and there's a free family meal on Friday. I was sad to leave. Next time I'm in town I'll stay here again

Yelp
Stayed for three nights to celebrate NYE in Montreal! Check-in was easy and we were pumped to find out there was a safe, indoor (heated) parking lot half a block away for $12 a day. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Perfect location to the metro and centrally located to lots of fun spots. Everyone was super nice too. Minor issue with a running toilet, but oh well. And in typical hostel fashion, there was a bit of noise throughout the night as people got back from a night out. Breakfast was toast, waffles, muffins, croissants, and hard-boiled eggs. Coffee & juice too. Ends at 10am. Would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
I stayed at the smaller of these two hostels with a friend for July 4 weekend. Everything was clean, enough space for the two of us and all our stuff. We had a private room and it was more like a hotel room than a hostel. Room had a fridge which was plus! Walking distance to the main shopping drag, metro close by, near the Latin Quarter. Friendly and helpful staff, cheap safe parking down the block. There's a cute garden out back. We didn't have any issues with noise at night but that could have been because we rolled in during the small hours. I'd stay here again.

Yelp
My go-to place when staying in Montreal. Clean, modern, and vibrant. Lots of friendly young travellers, and a licensed bar at the check-in desk. The only downside is that the kitchen/cooking area is very small.

Yelp
The people were friendly, the staff very helpful. It was super easy to check in and out, super close to lots of stuff. Continental breakfast was great for people who can eat wheat. The rooms are clean but cold (we did go at the beginning of February, however. The cool basement would be fantastic in the summer), there is a nice kitchen to use to cook meals in. The few things I didn't like: no parking at the hostel, we had a choice of paying to park the car for the duration of our stay with no in/out privileges or park at their sister hostel-a 5-10 minute walk where there was a lot we could park in with in/out privileges. There wasn't much for a gluten free continental breakfast except hard boiled eggs. I would have liked to see one other gluten free selection, but that's just me being picky. The only other thing is that there are no bowls in the kitchen. Everything else you would expect to be in a kitchen is there. No bowls. I would stay there again, in the summer. NOT in the winter, unless you're okay with the cold.

Yelp
Amazing accommodations. Not to mention it is a welcome respite from other dumps that dirty the reputation of 'hostels'. You still pay acceptable rates but get hotel-like service (from bedding to a full kitchen). I'll be back.

Yelp
bonjour, people. i had a wonderful time at this hostel. let me explain a few things. the atmosphere: it seems like it's geared more towards younger people, though there were a few older travelers. i felt somewhere in the middle, lost somewhere in my late 30s. but that's ok, because that's how life is at that age. the first night i was there i got 2 coupons for $2 drinks at the bar that's associated with the hostel, about a 5 minute walk down st. catherines. i had $5 in my pocket. it was enough for 2 jameson on the rocks and a $1 tip. it was comedy night and they had a tip hat which suggested a $6 donation, or "pay what you can". the people were funny and they offered me a ride to a bar, but i was already drunk at that point. (i got more money from the ATM.) the location: you should walk around a bit before deciding what the neighborhood is like. i made the mistake of only walking up and down st. hubert street on my first night there, after i was already a bit sloshed. i thought it was weird because the HMC says that it's a block or two from the latin quarter. i thought, "is this the latin quarter? there's really nothing here." on my last day there i stumbled upon both the real latin quarter and the gay village. it's a shame that i didn't figure it out until then, when my legs were pained from walking for several days. in fact, if you're a walker, it's not that far from several neighborhoods. i walked to old montreal to look at church-y stuff and cobbled streets. it was maybe 30 mins. one night i was near the plateau-miles end area and walked back to the hostel from there. 30 mins also. if you don't have a lot of time, just take the metro. the hostel: my room was good. nothing fancy, but so what? it was better than lots of "good" hotels i've stayed at. the room was just for sleeping and mid-day naps. the bathroom was really good and i enjoyed my showers after a long day of looking at things and imagining that i was living somewhere else in this world. same thing with the breakfast. nothing fancy, but i basically just wanted something to get me through the early part of the day. waffles, toast with peanut butter, orange juice and coffee. there are too many places to eat at in montreal to worry about breakfast. i was thinking about giving this 4 stars, solely because i know that there are lots of people who aren't the biggest fans of hostels. but then i thought, why would you be reading these reviews? it's a hostel. if i go back to montreal i will probably stay here. the only reason i would consider somewhere else is because one of the nights i was out near the downtown area and it seemed like there were a million more things to do there. i paid $11 to take a cab back to HMC since it was late. but anywhere near downtown will probably cost twice what i paid on this trip. again, i can't emphasize enough how friendly the staff are. have a good time in montreal!!!

Yelp
Good location! Friendly staff! I stayed single room, that was ok as this price. I think it's cleaner than any other hostel around there.

Yelp
Clean, comfortable facilities, friendly staff, cool events (comedy show thurs!). All around great experience.

Yelp
Montreal Centrale is a great place to stay while visiting Montreal. It is very centrally located -- right behind the bus station, one street from the Latin Quarter and the subway hub of the city. I came to Montreal from NYC for a few days to see the biosphere, eat pouttine and find Estonian beer. The hostel staff were amazing! I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to any and all travelers.

Yelp
Very convenient location and extremely close to downtown bus terminal. Staff was friendly and everyone can communicate in English as well as French. Rooms were clean and comfortable. However, if you don't want an open bathroom (meaning not enclosed), go for the standard private room rather than basic. A lot of entertainment options such as dvds and boardgames that can be lent to you.

Yelp
You won't believe this. I arrived at the front desk, requested a dorm bed. The guy on duty then attempted to overcharge me, finally everything was resolved. This is what $30 got me: a snoring dorm mate that kept me awake the entire night. Finally at 5am I went to the front desk begging for another room. The guy insisted that I pay the full rate a second time. I murmured 'you are crazy' and returned to the room. Not only was I unable to sleep that night, the toilet mysteriously overflowed leaving the bathroom in a state of yuck. Just be careful with hostels/hotels in Montreal: they will attempt to scam you out of your $$ in creative ways. Don't give your money to these guys.
