The freshest seafood straight outta the sea. Local kindness is wonderful and you feel like part of the family. Highly recommend the rabbit and any seafood in the menu.

Situated just off the harbour, with a shadey terrace at the other side of the street, it's quite unassuming and when we got there, without guests. The food is delicious, the fresh fish brought out and served wonderfully fresh. While we were eating, more people showed up and the other terrace filled up quite easily. Still, compared to the more hurriedly busy spots along the harbour, this is a highly recommended find. Prices are very reasonable, staff is quite friendly, the bruscchetta on the house is a great treat. Highest possible recommendation.

Perfect. We had lunch and came back for dinner a few days later. Great food. The best possible atmosphere and the service goes above and beyond. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Sammy’s
Sammy’s Il-Kcina Tal-Barraka is a small, iconic local restaurant located in Mgarr Harbour. We are told it was named after Sam, one of the two brothers who own Glen Eagle Bar, which sits above the restaurant. Their specialty is fresh fish purchased from one of the local fishermen bringing in the morning catch. Gozatins and Maltese have been going to the budget-friendly eatery for years. Everybody is welcome and treated like family. It is most likely you will be greeted by Rose when you come in. Rose has been running the restaurant for the last twelve years. I love the seafood pasta. It is filled with all the freshest catches of the season. King prawns, mussels, clams, and calamari most often. You can enjoy beer-battered fish and chips, burgers, vegan options, or a juicy steak. However, Sammy’s is best known for the fresh local catch of the day. Rose will bring out the iced fish to make your selection. Do not forget their mouth-watering deserts. You can call them at 7959 2952 for reservations.

Our worst meal in Malta so far. This restaurant is in a group of restaurants near the ferry terminal. We were tossing up between Sammy’s and the one next door (Gipetto’s, I think it was called).
The lobster ravioli won us over and we asked for a table. As we didn’t have a reservation we got the last table (not the greatest but no problem).
Unfortunately the service continued on from this poor allocation. It took forever to have our order taken. We felt so sorry for the lovely young lady who came to help when we got her attention (couldn’t get the attention of anyone else). This young lady was only taking drink orders but seeing how frustrated we were she took our pasta order as well.
We waited and waited and waited. Finally a waiter came over with two bread rolls and we asked him to check on our pastas as they were taking ages. When we broke into the bread it was frozen hard inside.
We sent it back and received to pieces of bruschetta on the house. This was a kind gesture, thank you.
Finally our pastas arrived. Both dishes looked great. My boyfriend’s bolognese was bland. He had to add salt, pepper and cheese to it to make it edible.
My lobster ravioli smelt very fishy when it arrived. It tasted ok, nothing great.
We were very disappointed that we didn’t go next door. The young lady waiting tables came over to turn a light on when she saw us reading the menu, the gentleman inside came to say hello. I really felt on reflection they had earned our business,
Sammy’s attitude was terrible, but the lovely young lady that did help us was a delight. The star belongs to her!

Budget price for delicious food. The best fried rabbit I’ve ever tried in Malta, also big portions of main dishes. Very helpful and friendly staff.

AFFORDABLE, AUTHENTIC AND DELICIOUS!!!
Excellent, reasonably priced food, great service, and a great ambience!
What I especially liked about the place was when I was dining, I saw many locals eating here, and in an area like this, the Comino hotspot, where there are troughs of tourist traps, I appreciated the delicious food that was also affordable.
They were also sweet enough to give me a bruschetta on the house.
I think this is a must for anyone visiting Gozo who happens to cross paths near the ferry terminals.

The linguine were perfect! Perfectly cooked pasta and fresh seafood. And it was also plentiful. I highly recommend.
