Samoa Tradition Resort

The 2 ladies that looked after us were very nice, friendly and respectful. We booked this hotel for only one reason. It was very close to our Family Reunion venue. And what a huge and expensive mistake it was! I have advised the 2 ladies to make sure they tell the hotel owner to hire professional cleaners to clean his hotel and treat it for bugs and insects especially flies and cockroaches! Dead and live bugs/insects everywhere! Bought a fly spray myself! It is disgustingly filthy!!!! Thick dust on windows, floor, cupboards. The couches are smelly and dirty, the dishes and utensils are sticky and dirty and are kept on dish racks. It wasn't a surprise that my uncle was the only guest there when we joined him 2 days later! And we had the whole hotel to ourselves (for 3 days) as no other guests came when we left the morning after we were robbed of our jewelry, money, iPhone and phones.

We stayed here for our last 3 nights in Apia before heading back to Australia. |We were a family of 21. Upon arrival the place looked ok, however there was a lot of disappointment. Each family checked into their own rooms, we were in suite number 3. No TVs were working, the dishes were washed and sitting in the rack on the bench. |The fridge had mould around the outside of the seal. |We had bed bugs it was disgusting ! On one of the double beds the mattress was so thin you could feel the slates underneath, that was the most uncomfortable sleep for 3 nights. I literally couldn’t wait to leave Samoa. The staff were nice and helpful and anything we needed they were onto it. |About 2am the next morning the water was cut off so we couldn’t flush the toilet, there was no running water till about 10am that morning. |Next night the power got cut off for awhile and there was no gas so we had cold showers. Our kids were looking forward to swimming but they had just put the chlorine in the pool, it was green and pretty gross. |They said they are closing down and renovating the whole place but my issue is we booked well in advance for our group. Why take our money if the rooms were that bad. I would not stay there again. The place has potential but it needs so much work. Don’t false advertise about the hotel, there is no gym & the pool wasn’t cleaned it was out of order!

Room was ok with air con and good shower pressure. I guess you have to ask for towels, toiletries and toilet paper. I was given 2 bottles of water but noticed 1 had been opened and I think drank from. Good thing hotel had a quiet atmosphere due to low occupancy. Thankful I was able to give a tip to reception staff for the change I never got back.

Stayed here in a suite at the end of our vacation for a few nights... it was adequate...the split level rooms were quite large, high roofed and airy,... we moved between several suites at the start as a few things (electrical) were broken, incl TVs aircond and cooktop ... after several moves by the helpful and equally frustrated staff we went without a TV to atleast have a working air cond and cooktop .... bathroom was old but worked fine and had hot water. The entire resort is a little tired and needs some maintenance... the pool was green so didnt use it...the hotel is about 15min drive inland from Apia town but cabs are plentiful, parking ample and staff very friendly to organise things. Cab to airport was 70Tala, even at 4am! meals seemed non existent or under utilized so we cooked in the room... a car would be handy to get to town if staying more than couple of days. only recommended for short stay. Wasnt there for FiaFia night but supposedly one of the better ones.. lots of locals seem to stay here and not many tourists, but overall the place seemed empty most of the time. Quiet during the day but every neighbour seems to have barking dogs so need the aircond on all night to mask the noise. The Studios are 2 level with internal stairs, have full size refrigerator, air cond, TV, cooktop and utensils .

We were happy with the room price and breakfast & fiafia night inclusion in our package. The hotel room itself was not clean and a bit run down. I am sure that happens pretty quickly in this tropical location. Our hosts were so kind, from the front desk to the restaurant, and housekeeping - and they serve you like you are a guest in their home. The only thing is that there is no anticipation of the things that visitors may need, from the time of reservations - communications absent - book and pray! We were thrilled that everything came out as we'd hoped, just would have been nice to know it ahead of time to put us at ease.

The villa we stayed in had very spacious rooms, however the bathroom was quite small. My parents stayed in one of the two bedroom apartments which was also very spacious and they had a lovely large bathroom. The reason I give three stars is because we informed the staff that there was a rodent in the roof of our villa! We spotted it a couple nights in to our stay and then informed the staff upon check out, expecting some kind of compensation, but all we got was a laugh and a giggle and "you should have told us earlier". Great customer service! We didn't believe it was an actual rodent until we noticed chewed up holes in my nephews nappies, and other chewed up bits and pieces around the villa. The villa cost us approx. $900 NZD for 4 nights, I don't think it was worth the money.

The worst hotel. the worst staff! The staff, who i believe is the manager is absolutely money hungry, i paid a deposit several months in person and asked if they could send me all the details of what is required. I left a deposit to hold the date for my event because i did not want to loose it, i asked for the receipt and was told the printer is broken, we will send you a hard copy once its running. I arrived in Samoa and was told my date was not booked. the lady at reception denied speaking or making any communications with me and started giggling at the other staffs. i had evidence of our conversation and yet still no apology i walked away trying to find a place for my event luckily i had time to find another place. So if you want your money to be stolen, lied in front of your face or even laughed behind your back and neglect then check it out for yourself. This occurred last year in 2016. There are many great hotels in Samoa just not this one.

We chose to stay here last minute. The staff were lovely but the apartment we stayed in was quite run down. The kitchen definitely needs upgrading as there were wood shavings falling from the ceiling continuously. Pillows need to be replaced; beds weren't the best.
