Sampanman Kelong Changi (Jewel)

A splendid restaurant with a humongous portion of food available. We ordered the XXL sampan with the salted egg sauce, perfect for a group of 5-6. A free flow chendol and traditional biscuits were available too! The drinks were aestheticly looking and service was great! However, the seating and space is slightly squeezy, especially with baby highchair, so we had to squeeze in a little. Overall pricey, but worth every dollar spent!

We had the lunch set on a weekday. We have got the tingkat curry chicken set. The portion is small, with a cold sambal egg which is more ketchup taste. The sambal sweet potato leave is the best. My friend had the salted egg chicken, over fried and thus the meat is hard. Both side dishes are the same and goes with butterfly pea rice. Will I go back again ? NO. NOT for the set.

The lala bee hoon broth was umami and the seafood is fresh. The soft shell crab was crispy and the shell was soft . The macaroni was yummy & cheesy. Kaya toast also nice just the berempah chicken was too dried and curry chicken too little meat. Overall environment was great.

Was drawn to the place because of the big juicy cockles on the board and it did not disappoint! The serving of cockles was very generous and the spiciness of the laksa was just right. There was self-service free-flow chendol which was quite an experience and nice to eat if you get the proportions correct

Food was generously huge portion especially curry sliced fish. Overall food was delicious for the kelong sampan, satay beehoon, butter river prawns and the sea bass with lala set. Definitely would love to come back again!

Brought a friend from Malaysia who insisted on having chilli crab in Singapore. I dragged him here upon landing instead of the usual tourist traps (yes, consider that your crab reference). He ended up loving the sweet–spicy sauce — said it tasted different from what he gets back home, which is high praise coming from someone who has easy access to some of the best food in his hometown. We rounded out the meal with tangy belacan sweet potato leaves and juicy ayam berempah, paired with rice and crispy mantou. Everything came together nicely — a solid, satisfying spread for hosting an out-of-towner without falling into cliché.

it's pricey not because of the location but because of some of the (lack of) portion size. my review is based on my brunch, maybe others who went there for seafood would have better experience. firstly, it's disappointing the bee hoon is out of stock. for location at Jewel I thought should be better stocked. Lala soup with thick bee hoon is good. I love the broth. but the lala has alot of unopened ones which was a disappointment. the green sauce has a nice kick. Tingkat toast n egg set is creative but also made the portion looked small. is like only 20% of container is filled. curry is tasty but chicken was dry. toast was normal. extra toast and curry would make it more fulfilling. Mac and cheese lack of cheese and the torching created bitter burnt taste instead of smoke fragrance. Peng Kway was a disappointment. so small. taste was ok. DIY chendol is ok. better if has red bean and jelly.

Food was great, and prices seemed reasonable for the airport considering the portion. Can reserve a table online, plenty of seating. Seat cushions could be cleaner. Staff was friendly, though service could be better (utensils were not given though food was served, had to request for them). We tried the soft shell lala bee hoon soup set which came with a bowl of noodles with some sliced fish, and another bowl with lala and soft shell crab on the side. The set came with sides, which we chose fish skin and a drink which we chose kopi peng (gao and sweet). The soup was light and flavourful, soft shell crab juicy. The salted egg fish skin was crispy, though the flavour could be stronger. The set is worth the money I feel, for $16.90 (?) We also ordered the har cheong squid which was crunchy, with a slightly sour chilli that helped cut through the oiliness. Another order was the dry mee pok with curry chicken was amazing, well coated, flavourful in every bite. Definitely worth a try!
