The coffee and food were both great, just as expected—I really enjoyed them. However, the service could use a bit of improvement. The waiter seemed a little distracted, possibly new, as he asked me to sit but then didn’t come back to take my order. I was about to walk to the counter when another waitress noticed and assisted me. It all worked out in the end, and overall the experience was good, but a bit more attentiveness from the staff would definitely make it even better.

For over a decade now, the talented Sample team has consistently roasted and produced phenomenal coffee. Their cheerful surry hills offering is no exception. Great staff, amazing coffee & small bites in a convenient and cheerful location.

A small little cafe in Surry Hills serving good coffee here for many years since I can remember probably almost a decade. Good coffee, friendly & pleasant staff. Been here many time they use their signature Pacemaker Espresso Blend for their black and milk coffee. The milk coffee have the tasting notes of Malteser, shortbread & vanilla. Other than coffee they sell some small bites like croissant, donuts, cookies & pastries. Good place for quick bites, light snacks and coffee catchup.

Coffee is always on point here. But the extra special facts is that they don’t charge for iced drinks and use smaller cup size for a small iced latte (to keep the coffee milk ratio balanced). Highly recommend

Situated at the end of a row of bigger cafes and restaurants, this small shop packs a big punch. Sample is the name and the range (or samples) of the coffee are superb! Always something new, always well brewed, always open for a friendly chat. If you’re looking for a long black, this is the place to go!

Best coffee in Sydney! Popped in here today for the first time since moving to Sydney. There was two staff members, both super friendly, cute seating area outside. Highly recommend for a great coffee.

Staff are either uninterested or seem bothered you’re interrupting their chats every time I go there…. a smile or friendly greeting would be nice for a change. Coffee however is great.

One of the best coffee roasters in Australia. I have tried many specialty coffee roasters over the years, and I can safely say that no one comes close to the complete experience Sample Coffee offers. Coffee - Brew Crew Subscription. Their omni-roasted beans from the brew crew subscription has been a perfect fit for me. For someone who alternates between doing a V60 Filter and also doing Espresso, this is a huge bonus having beans / roast that can do both without me buying two separate beans for the use cases. The quality of the beans and flavour profile of the coffee it produces is also great. I've had many great comments from friends and family when I make them a cup. Subscription - Their subscription service and functionality on the website is also one of the best I've used. It's simple and straight forward in setting up the subscription. It's also super useful that I can change my delivery dates if I need more beans, or if I need to delay deliveries because I'm not using them as quick as I anticipated. It's all done via the simple UI on the website, with a few clicks. It's also quite fun receiving a new coffee every time with their Brew Crew subscription, because I never know what I end up with but it's always a fun surprise. Packaging - The packaging has been one of the most impressive things, and things that really make them stand out in the industry. Their gorgeous packaging always makes me excited to receive my order. From their personalised stickers to their sustainable box that has useful / interesting things printed (i.e. brew guides, coffee regions, etc), to the personalised notes they add. It really makes for a pleasant experience receiving every delivery.

Yelp
This is really good coffee. The best part is you can try the different beans before you decide. Yes you can 'sample'. Making the coffee was a bit slow, but honestly that's because I think it was made by love. Which is the reason it was a good coffee. The have some muffins and slices, but when I got there (just after 1) they were sold out. So this could be a sign that they are awesome, or that they don't order enough. Either was worth coming for the coffee.

Yelp
You know what service is when your coffee is ready before you walk in the door. The boys here are all heart - they always say hi, bye and thank you and hand you your coffee with a smile, no matter how grumpy and sleep deprived you are. Even better (or is it?) they know coffee. They really understand the importance of the bean, and even have Black Saturdays when they only serve black coffee so the beans can really sing. The ever changing filters are always delicious and flavoursome, never over or under extracted. And even though they reckon black is better, they don't neglect milk coffees. Maybe it's the jersey milk, maybe they're just awesome baristas but their flat whites are smoother than Barry White and, dare I say, more seductive. Food wise, it's just Farmer Jo's muesli and a drool worthy variety of cakes and pastries. But really, it's all about the coffee. The rest are just bonuses.

Yelp
Sick of getting the same coffee every time you go to your local cafe? Looking for a bit of variety? At Sample Coffee you can literally sample the difference. Sure they have a house blend, but the concept of being able to sample other coffees is an inspired one. Too often cafes get locked into the one flavour that, while given the consistency that many people desire, limits the variety of new experiences customers can have (especially the ever growing base of coffee connoisseurs in Sydney). So upon the recommendation from Twitter I decided that a sojourn up to the mass of cafes in Surry Hills was called for. Despite the lack of extensive seating, or #powerwhoring capacity, I did enjoy coming to a cafe that was passionate about the coffee experience. Sure the dbl mac had a bit too much milk for my liking, but if you have read any of my other reviews, you'll find that this is quite normal. I also tried one of their cold drips (the Kenya Karimikui Peaberry) which came served in a massive glass. Seems these guys have made a much better ice coffee rather than focus on a strong, whisky like shot of cold drip. Still, while I love my whisky shots, it was quite nice being able to enjoy the cold drip in a larger portion. All up, surrounded by all the other cafes in throwing distance, this cafe is going to have to bring something special, and I think they just might be able to pull it off. Look forward to sampling some of their other coffees when I am in the area. Cafe Summary ------------------------------------------------- Passion for Coffee - 9/10 Coffee: House blend dubbed "Pacemaker", is a 50/50 blend of Panama's Elida estate and Costa Rican Brumas (Roasted by Mecca) Crema (1=burnt, 10=velvet) - 8/10 Special coffees avail? - Cold drip

Yelp
Jan15 - Went there for a coffee and got free muffins!! The coffee was good and it has nothing to do with the free muffins. This is a rather small place which is not a bad thing.

Yelp
Came here for a java jack-up after takin' care of some bidness in this hilly section of Surry recently. The coffee was really good. The staff were friendly and methodical. The coffee took an age to get to me, but as others have noted it is because they are brewing perfection, not churning and burning, so this is acceptable. The small shop does get cramped (there was a mini arvo rush) and I found myself actually standing on the corner talking to my business partner as I waited for my caffeine to be created. There's some improvement to be had here, but they've mastered the coffee side of things.

Yelp
Best coffee I've found in the neighborhood. Staff is always friendly, and there are always some good tunes being played.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time last week. Excellent coffee. One of the better drops I've had in a while. Abit slow for a take away but then again they where busy!

Yelp
This is the best place to grab a coffee if you exit/enter Central train station at Chalmers St.

Yelp
Best coffee in town! Lovely staff too, it's so refreshing! Also best hot chocs and ham&cheese croissants

Yelp
Even though I am sipping on my first coffee here, I know I'll be coming back for more. Sample is a small cafe where you can get some "boutique" coffees from specific regions and different roasters. I love single-serve drip coffee because it seems you get the best flavor, and the coffee from Kenya I tried today was quite lovely. Nice work... just wish there was more seating in the cafe, but I'll definitely come by here when I'm on the go.

Yelp
awesome place for serious coffee lovers. The owner have an unbelievable coffee background and experience, having roasted for places like Mecca coffee. so far i've had seven seeds, mecca and proud mary coffee - but if you like your coffee with milk, they'll choose the coffee that is best like that or straight up short black. This is the sort of style i like - a mix of the best coffee in sydney. if you are serious about coffee and coffee education i.e. learning more about coffee production, go here - its all about the coffee! fit out is awesome too - i think this will be one of the best places for coffee in sydney in a quick period of time! good job guys!
