Sick of getting the same coffee every time you go to your local cafe? Looking for a bit of variety? At Sample Coffee you can literally sample the difference. Sure they have a house blend, but the concept of being able to sample other coffees is an inspired one. Too often cafes get locked into the one flavour that, while given the consistency that many people desire, limits the variety of new experiences customers can have (especially the ever growing base of coffee connoisseurs in Sydney).
So upon the recommendation from Twitter I decided that a sojourn up to the mass of cafes in Surry Hills was called for. Despite the lack of extensive seating, or #powerwhoring capacity, I did enjoy coming to a cafe that was passionate about the coffee experience. Sure the dbl mac had a bit too much milk for my liking, but if you have read any of my other reviews, you'll find that this is quite normal. I also tried one of their cold drips (the Kenya Karimikui Peaberry) which came served in a massive glass. Seems these guys have made a much better ice coffee rather than focus on a strong, whisky like shot of cold drip. Still, while I love my whisky shots, it was quite nice being able to enjoy the cold drip in a larger portion.
All up, surrounded by all the other cafes in throwing distance, this cafe is going to have to bring something special, and I think they just might be able to pull it off. Look forward to sampling some of their other coffees when I am in the area.
