This Sam's Club Mazatlán near the Galerías mall serves a middle and upper middle class Mexican clientele from the surrounding neighborhoods as well as visiting tourists and American expats that reside in the condominium communities found close by.
As such, the management of this store needs to rethink the quality and variety of goods and produce sold here.
Specifically, the vegetables and fruits are way below the standards that one would expect of an American corporate icon.
While some would mistakenly and erroneously argue that the low quality of fruits, vegetables and even the sad looking roast chickens is due to this being a "Mexican" Sam's Club that would be an asinine argument.
While there is no Costco in Mazatlán to prove this erroneous argument wrong, one only needs to visit the Costco in Culiacán to understand that low quality produce and vegetables have nothing to do with this Sam's Club being in a Mexican city and more to do with very poor management on behalf of this Sam's Club and its Walmart Mexico corporate leadership.
Hopefully soon Mazatlán will also have a Costco in the same neighborhood as this Sam's Club to offer a higher quality of service to the thriving communities located all around.
Incidentally, I have visited Sam's Clubs located in Mexican cities from Tijuana in northern Mexico to the numerous ones located in Mexico City. And while quality and service fluctuate from store to store, the one in the Mazatlán Galerías community does rank in the lowest range.
I think the Walmart located on the same lot does a much better job of offering better produce and fresh food.
Do better.
