I visited Sam’s on Saturday 22nd November. I was treating myself as it was my birthday. Unfortunately, the experience was one of two halves. Initially the staff were very attentive & I ordered a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc from NZ with my Thai curry. When it came the wine wasn’t chilled & was almost room temperature, so I told the waitress & she brought me another & apologised saying the other waitress had taken it from the wrong fridge & it hadn’t had time to chill. I later ordered another glass & again it wasn’t chilled so I complained. The same staff member took my glass & was gone for a while. When she returned the glass was misty as if it had been put in the freezer, but I knew it was exactly the same wine that I had returned! When it came to paying the bill I challenged the waitress but she insisted it had come from the same chilled bottle….it hadn’t! When purchasing decent wine which is costing £13.25 per glass the expectation should be that it’s served at the correct temperature! The portions were a good size, although my mussels hadn’t been cleaned properly so some of it tasted gritty. Unfortunately, this experience left a nasty taste in my mouth, literally!
