We really enjoyed our dinner. After a long day of travel, the service and food were just what we needed. Moyna, our server, took great care of our needs and helped with allergies and selections. Thank you, Moyna!

This was the worst beef steak I’ve ever had in my life. Everything, from the beef to the chicken and chapatis, was clearly frozen—nothing was fresh. When I brought the poor food quality to the manager's attention, they refused to acknowledge any fault.

I had one of the best dinners I’ve had in quite a long time… jaipur with chicken tikka. The perfect amount of spice, taste and heat. With cashews and coriander. Moina was a wonderful host and will make sure your needs were met.

We were on a road trip to Scotland from UK and wanted to have an Indian food. We reached Inverness around 9 pm and found about this place. This place is located at very ideal and easily approachable location. The joint claims it is Indian but it is actually a Bangladeshi owned joint. However the ambience was really good - the joint was spacious and having nice Indian menu. The food was so good, the service was so fast. An ideal place to have comparatively a good Indian meal on foreign land.

WE experienced Sam Menu as better then average restaurants, Food was good but taste & quality could be improved with more natural cooking. Saff member Moin was very professional and friendly. Prices were competitive in surroundings for sure.

Google
Worst indian restaurant I've ever been to. The ambience was quite nice and service was average, but the food..... awful. Indian cuisine is one of my favorites and I've eaten at Indian restaurants around the world. Never before have I eaten food with so much sugar. The dishes were almost florescent and so sweet they could have been served for dessert. If you want Indian food, go somewhere else. **After reading management's response to another review I felt the need to add: they seem to confuse spiciness with sweetness. Even for those that don't want their food spicy, there is no need to add a pound of sugar. I asked for mine spicy and it came very sweet and mildly spicy. The others that were with me wanted theirs mild and it came extra sweet. Indian food can be made flavorsome and mild without loads of sugar. The food coloring is also not necessary. **

Google
Great food and service. I went with four kids and they were kind and the food was really good. As expected outside of USA, it was less spicy than average but on the one dish we requested spicy it was perfect. Highly recommend

Google
The worst place to have Indian food. This restaurant is run by Bengladesh people so it's not authentic Indian food. We ordered tandoori king prawns but they served us deep fried battered prawns. When we asked about it, the staff were very rude and said this is how they make tandoori prawns "here". We ordered Chicken biryani, and the disappointment continued. They gave us something that tasted like fried rice. DO NOT GO HERE!

Yelp
The food was good and very flavorful. Our service was only okay. Part of our order was wrong and it was corrected. The late service hours were appreciated.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Enjoyed the biryani and tikka dishes. Warm plates and food warmers are provided against the typical Inverness weather. Cheerful and helpful staff.

Yelp
3/10/23- ate there at 6:30 pm and we finished at 7:41pm. The food was good and we were out of there with about a 68 bill for 3 persons. Didn't like the appetizers we ordered, we ordered 2 thin breads, see the photos. Very plain and dry. Ordered some other items and they were good and hearty. Very filling. The service was good, except very slow. 1 hour and 10 minutes. I think it took them 45 minutes from when we ordered to when the food first arrived and it was very slow for us. I would suggest going there. It was dead when we entered and packed when we left. Check out the photos. The dishes are bought independent. There is no rice or naan bread with any dishes. You have to order extra. The naan bread was very good and large. If you order 2, it will make 3 persons very happy. We ordered 1 each and we have a full 1 left. Enjoy. The photos have what we ordered with the names. Everything was flavorful. Have them bring you a pitcher of water as well.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Sam's. We were treated by friendly staff and were seated quickly. The ambiance was very clean modern with a hint of Indian and Highlands design elements. It was quiet and felt very comfortable. We were not rushed and had excellent service. The food was very good. We have indian frequently and it was some of the best in our experiences. It had a variety of dishes including some less common ones and some with seafood and hIghlands features. We had the papadom with chutneys, mushroom and potato chaat, lamb mirchi korma and the lamb shatkara and garlic naan. Everything was authentic with deep complex flavors. The chutneys were bright and a great starter. The highlights were the main dishes. The lam mirchi korma was sweet and spicy, with a smooth texture and very balanced. It complicated the incredibly tender lamb. The lam shatkara was stellar. We asked for something they recommend and this is what they provided and we were impressed. The dish was spicy, but not overly hot. It melded perfectly with the lamb which almost melted when you ate it. The lamb was perfectly cooked. We finished all of both dishes. Overall, if we were in living in Inverness this would be one of our go to restaurants. We highly recommend it if you are a fan of Indian cuisine.

Yelp
Absolutely superb. I'll admit, I wasn't impressed with the food in Scotland - this place made it all better. The curry was excellent, the rice was perfect, the naan was huge and delicious, and everything was flavorful without being overwhelming. It was better Indian food than I could get back home, and in any event the best food I got in Scotland!

Yelp
Great service and the curries were delicious. The aloo baghi (sp?) was great. Would come again!

Yelp
[Ring-ring, ring-ring], "Hello this is Sam's, may I take your order?" I basically wanted to go over to the front to pick up their phone and say that. It kept ringing throughout dinner and no one would pick it up or it would ring for along time. The ringing sound was heard throughout the entire restaurant - how annoying! Service was okay. The food was good and a little better than other places in Inverness. The extra £1 for the balti option was not worth it as they didn't actually cook in the steel pot; just served. The mango lassi and the Kingfisher tap beer was very good. Had to lose one star, because of the constant phone ringing and the service was not so good.

Hope C.

Yelp
Excellent Indian food in a comfortable setting with quick service. They have Kingfisher on draft and a whole host of servers who are eager to please. They do actually have butter chicken on the menu if you ask for it - it's just not listed. It's perfect for those who are less fond of spicy dishes. Almost sweet in a korma way and definitely buttery, it was filled with delicious chicken tikka. The lamb neega was a serious highlight. Wow. What a good kick with tasty curry sauce - the lamb was tender. Mix up the butter chicken and neega sauce and it's the perfect mix of hot and sweet/creamy. I was impressed by the speed, attention and prices at Sam's. A good family-run place that hits the spot for a good curry night out.

Yelp
Travelled all over Europe this summer and this was one of the best meals. Everything we had was great. Owner himself took our order and make it "Indian style". Loved it!

Christina B.

Yelp
Our service was very attentive and we had a mixed group (didn't feel any racism) but the food wasn't super great. Might be a different kind of Indian than we're accustomed to?

Valerie F.

Yelp
Rather disappointing dining experience. Our starter of chicken pakora (bland) and tandoori lamb chops (tasted reheated rather than freshly cooked) were about a two-star experience. Our mains, BaltI chicken tikka naaga and sag paneer, were freshly prepared, but the first was super chili hot while the veg dish was bland. We blended the two on our plates to make the combo palatable. The service was good, which is why we think three stars is fair. We wanted to love this restaurant, had been looking forward to dining here since before our arrival in Inverness. We try top user-rated Indian cuisine in every city we visit, and the reviews on some of the travel websites we use gave Sam's rave reviews for the food, which tells me that there might room in Inverness for another Indian restaurant to move into town. One that gives Sam's a run for its money.

Yelp
Amazing service. We reserved ahead for a party of 15 and they greeted us like kings and queens and served good food. Ask for mild if you have any problem with spice as their food is very spicy. They apologized profusely and adjusted it immediately. Will come back here when we come back to Inverness.

Leyla M.

Yelp
If you want real Indian food, this is not the place to go to. They used the same exact base for 2 complete different curries. When we told them the issue, they got frustrated with us. You can't smell or taste any spices. It seemed as if they had bought their curry from the local grocery market and just heated it up and poured it into the serving dish. Also they have a minimum amount that each customer must spend. Try the Indian restaurant across the street instead.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Wow, what a fabulous meal! Food was excellent! Service was great as well. I had chicken korma and my husband had the tandoori chicken. We also had the vegetable platter appetizer. The flavor and spice of everything was so good. I would highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for Indian cuisine.

Heather S.

Yelp
We had lunch and was surprised with the warming plate for our meal. My husband had the lamb vindaloo and enjoyed it. I had chicken masala and was disappointed. It tasted of coconut, which over powered any other spices. I do not care for coconut, so it was a turn off. It was listed as mild, and indeed, it was.

Raj M.

Yelp
We were disappointed after having dinner at Sam's. The food was average, the half entree and full entree portion size was almost same, and poor customer service made it a bad experience.

Martin V.

Yelp
Despite the central location and many tourists, the staff is friendly. They actually have Indian as well as regular food on the menu. Steak for example. We both had Indian food and it was nice.

Michael M.

Yelp
Staff were all extremely friendly and treated us like kings. The food was really good and relatively well priced. Would definitely recommend.

Cindy D.

Yelp
Please note the dates on previous two reviews! This is a clean, family run restaurant in Inverness. There is a wide variety of dishes, all made to order. The wait staff is patient and accommodating and the food speaks for itself. The tandoori and cauliflower dishes were standouts. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a delicious Indian meal.

Yelp
don't come here :( really bad Indian food, rice reheated and coloured with a green food coloring! rogan josh that I ordered came out cold and bland (no Indian flavor at all). the naan brea was dry :( and for all of that £38!!!

Yelp
In September my husband and I took a coach tour of Scotland and we stayed in a Bed and Breakfast on the other side of the River Ness. The owner recommended Sam's for Indian food. By the time we had a full day sightseeing and walked across the river and found the restaurant, we were exhausted. Due to a health condition, I do not eat a lot at night, so we assumed with my husband eating a full meal that it would be all right for me to select rice and another side dish as we normally do in the US. We were seated in an empty restaurant and given water. When the owner heard that i wasn't going to buy a full meal, he asked us how much we were willing to spend and I told him that I could only eat rice and a side dish at night due to my health. He crossed his arms and said "No" and walked away. We were immediately escorted out. If you are willing to spend, perhaps the staff in this restaurant will treat you well. We have never been kicked out of anywhere, much less a restaurant, so we won't recommend this to any traveler.

Yelp
The service was way more awesome than i was anticipating. The food was great and overall the best place in Inverness to have Indian food.
