Samtavro's Convent

This monastery is magnificent. In the morning, the nuns open the doors and attend to the guests. Located in the city center, this structure is a must-see.

Beautiful architecture, the area is also nice but currently half of it is under construction. Behind the church there is also some museum for 1 gel with some casual icons. Inside you can find an old lady selling typical souvenirs like “holy water”

Beautiful medieval monastery. Originally from the 4th century, rebuilt in the 11th. King Mirian III and his wife Nana are buried inside the church.

Its a beautiful church, but there is a cathedral more closeby which is more impressive to be honest.. Still an amazing church and definitely worth the visit.. this church is more relaxing (less people)..

A beautiful church and area to visit. Many people go to make prayers, lighting candles. Beautiful art work & imagery.

Took a trip out from Tbilisi to this convent where the remains of an orthodox saint are on display ( St. Nino ). Cameras are not allowed inside the church and a dress code is also in place like ALL churches, no shorts for men and women are to wear a headscarf. Was beautiful weather when visiting and I would highly recommend going as this is something of true history to Georgia.

Too many prohibitions inside annoyed me. Don’t touch this dont touch that, is written on every single place. And picture of their still alive Patriarch in the entrance was quite funny They put him as most important thing in whole church so far 🤣 Bush of Brambles was good but again everywhere written texts like youre in army, lucky those who cant read georgian

Built presumably in the 4 th century by the king Mirian 3 and reconstructed in the 11 th century by the king of Georgia 1 . Luis and Aragvi rivers as the place of the first Georgian church. Must to visit
