Samyan - Review - Clinton Hill - New York - The Infatuation

"In Clinton Hill, Samyan is a Thai restaurant named after a neighborhood in Bangkok that’s known for its food scene. Their Thai classics include green curry and pad kee mao, as well as whole fried branzino with caramelized fish sauce and massaman with short rib. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

New to Clinton Hill, this Thai spot serves finger-cut winglets caramelized in fish sauce or dusted Esan-style. Grub Street singled out the split-wing prep in 2025; the menu channels Bangkok street-flavor with Brooklyn swagger.

Absolutely loved this place! The food was incredibly authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish we tried was well-balanced and full of rich, bold Thai flavors. You can tell they really care about getting it right. The atmosphere was welcoming and the service was great too. Highly recommend if you’re craving real Thai food that tastes just like it should!

I recently visited Samyan, a casual Thai eatery that completely exceeded my expectations. From start to finish, the experience was delightful. We ordered a variety, including the Grilled Pork Jowl, Samyan Wings, Samyan Fried Fish and Crab Meat Fried Rice. Every dish was bursting with flavor, authentic and perfectly seasoned. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming. The service stood out as well. If you’re craving Thai food, Samyan should be on your list.

If I could give more than five stars, I would. Samyan Brooklyn truly delivers the taste of home. Let’s start with their Signature Wings, the highlight of the restaurant — perfectly crispy and seasoned to perfection. They pair beautifully with the bold, flavorful papaya salad and the incredibly tender grilled pork jowl, which is juicy, well-balanced, and melts in your mouth. For main dishes, the crab fried rice is a standout. It’s fragrant, rich, and full of smoky wok flavor — pure comfort in every bite. The short ribs massaman curry is rich, bold, and full of character — a must-try for anyone who loves beef and deeply spiced curry. The tom yum soup with shrimp surprised me — it tastes just like the one I used to have in Bangkok. Bright, spicy, and incredibly aromatic. Don’t miss the fried whole fish and the sautéed stinky beans — both full of authentic flavor and cooked to perfection. Even the simple sautéed cabbage is unexpectedly delicious — full of umami and depth. And the Thai-style omelette is exactly how it should be: crispy outside, fluffy inside, and deeply satisfying. Overall, I enjoy every single dish here. Whenever I miss Thai food, this is the place I always come back to — and it never disappoints. You might think I’m exaggerating, but I genuinely encourage you to come and taste everything I’ve mentioned. Every dish is made with care, bursting with flavor, and absolutely worth trying. This restaurant doesn’t just serve food — it serves memories, comfort, and the kind of flavor that stays with you. Highly recommended.

While driving through the Fulton St area, I spotted a newly opened Thai restaurant—Samyan—and decided to stop by. The food turned out to be absolutely amazing—just like having Pad Thai in Thailand! The creamy Tom Yum Goong was uniquely flavorful and perfectly spicy—one of the best I’ve had. The crab curry was rich and delicious, with a generous amount of real crab meat—great value for the price. Samyan Wing’s flavors are well-balanced and easy to enjoy. I’ll definitely be back and will recommend it to friends and family. A real gem for Thai food lovers!

The food was fresh and quality, the drinks were great, the ambiance was nice. Overall a nice spot. Got the pork jowl, the branzino, and crab curry, and the lemonade. I love how juicy the fish was despite being fried. Very flavorful and well seasoned. I will be back.

It is always comforting to come across an authentic Thai restaurant amidst the bustling of NYC. Every dish we ordered at Samyan was perfectly cooked. Drinks were exceptionally delicious. And the presentation was just wow! Samyan serves authentic Thai food that is outstanding like no others. Strongly recommend and will definitely come back with friends and family.

Since I’m Thai and wanted to eat Thai food here, I discovered this restaurant. Being someone who loves Matcha, I decided to try the 'Matcha Time' menu item. It’s a combination of intense pure matcha and the sweet-tangy flavor of strawberry purée, layered with milk in the middle. It was so delicious. If you’re a matcha lover like me, I highly recommend giving it a try. As for the food, I ordered the restaurant’s recommended dish — the Samyan Wings — which were very tasty with a mild spiciness. I also ordered some small plates for snacking: wok-fried chives, fried crab wontons, and crispy pork (moo tod). For the main course, I had crab meat fried rice, Thai omelette, and short rib massaman curry. Everything was so delicious. The massaman curry had a rich flavor, and the stewed beef was juicy. Eating it together with rice and Thai omelette made for a perfect combination. This is exactly the taste of Thai food that helps cure my homesickness. I ended the meal with dessert — mango ice cream topped with mango jam. It was the perfect finale. The sweetness of the ice cream balanced with the fragrant, slightly tangy mango jam. And finally, when I left the restaurant, I was greeted with a beautiful view. I felt so fulfilled today.

Super cute new Thai place in Clinton Hill!! The place has a bit of an old school antique vibe, and it felt very calming to walk in. All the recommendations were delicious, and we had three of the dishes: Crab meat curry - incredible balance of flavors, and they give you a REALLY generous portion of meat! Five Spices Pork Belly - braised to a softness and tenderness that melts in your mouth, and the flavor is so deliciously cooked all the way through Tom Yum Goong - this dish comes in a traditional steamboat, and the sour flavor hits you immediately. I like a bit more milky texture, but still really enjoyed this!! Dessert - the coconut cream is no joke, it was garnished and decked out with nuts and jelly and all the textures worked so well together. They also have a mango ice cream available as well! Overall I loved my experience here - the service is so attentive and caring, and I really appreciate the care they have for each and every one of their dishes!

Yelp
If u can handle the heat (spice) Get chicken wings!! I honestly wanted to inhale the whole plate n not share w/ BF Get the ground angus beef w/ egg! Popping the egg over rice was so satisfying. The whole dish is rice annihilator! Can probably eat 2 bowls of white rice per person. Bell peppers do not overtake flavor of this dish (so many other Thai places let bell peppers rumble thru too much) Less spice - non spice Get the crab fried rice! (And this is coming from a crab hater) Impress ur seafood loving friends w/ this dish, u won't regret it. Get the chive appetizer~ love the bean sprouts and fluffy chive squares. Not on the sticky side. All the savory dishes we had were grease / oil-free. Plates were cleared and no excess oil to be found. U feel like u had a non-heavy meal.

Yelp
Best Thai food I've ever had!! Every bite was unique and full of flavor. Their special for the night was particularly incred-- a fried fish salad with basil, thin sliced apples and veg, garlic, YUM! Every dish was so fresh and always finished with a beautiful sauce. Amazing service and drinks as well. Go here!!

Yelp
Great Thai food and service. It is a new spot in the neighborhood. Wok chive is a vegan friendly Thai styled chive cake.

Yelp
They may be paying for reviews because I had the opposite of these cliche experiences, granted I did not eat in. Everything on their menu is incredibly overpriced 14 bucks for crab Rangoon? 18 for pad Thai? The Thai place that was formally at this location was way cheaper and better. Booo to this spot.

Yelp
Place is great, lots of authentic options, and of course all of the classic Thai-NYC menu options like pad Thai and basil fried rice.

Catie S.

Yelp
Everything we ate was great - so flavorful and fresh!! The short rib was a stand out and some of the best pad Thai I've had.

Wendy N.

Yelp
The reception was exceptional! And I'm so excited to try their dishes because their Thai iced tea was superb!!
