San Angel Mexican Restaurant

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food first off, My fiance' and I had a great evening and the customer service was handled to all customers and ourself in a very respected manner. I would DEFINITELY try this location again. Drinks: I started off with the "Merlot" wine and as for my fiance', she had the "Blueberry Mojito". The drinks were outstanding and were delicious for starters. Appetizers: As for the appetizers, we had the Calamari. Including in the calamari came with some salad, deep fried jalapeno peppers and a delicious dip sauce that goes well with the appetizers. Dinner: As for the dinner, I had the Chicken Gourmet that includes Chargrilled chicken breast with zucchini, mushrooms, bell peppers, cheese dip. Side of rice and beans. As for my fiance',she had the Salmon which included,Grilled salmon filet covered with grilled shrimp, mushrooms, spinach, and special sauce, served with white rice and salad. It was delicious and we enjoyed it well. Overall with the service we'd already had made reservations and were treated very professionally, especially from the manger himself and his employees that served us with the drinks and food etc. Lastly, there were two handsome neat gentlemens that were at the exit that we paid for our checks at. And they were very respectful. SAN ANGEL COCINA AND CANTINA, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DINNING OUT AT THIS LOCATION. AND IT WAS WORTH THE DINNER NIGHT FOR TWO GUEST OR MORE.

This restaurant is superb! I cannot say enough good things about this place! The staff is wonderful, from managers to servers, everyone is so sweet! The food tastes amazing and the portions are huge! Great bang for your buck! My husband likes to go through and try different things through out the menu and has yet to be disappointed, I always get the same thing but it's fantastic every time! Cleanliness is really important to me and every time we have been, the place is spotless. It has a great atmosphere, lively and fun, but not too loud. We've been coming to this place since we moved to athens and I can confidently say that they have made regulars out of us! Highly recommend stopping in, this place has it all!

When we walked in it was noticeably clean and smelled very nice. Staff was kind and jumped up to get us seated. The chips and salsa is the best I've ever had! The food was incredible, service was just as good. Prices were fair for sure! I will go here again next time I am in Athens. A must try!!

We love this restaurant! We had a last minute get together for 10 friends, and they squeezed us in Valentine’s Day weekend. We had multiple rounds of drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts, and we were only there an hour and a half. Everything tasted great and was hot/fresh. Austin was our server and he killed it! We loved management too. Would highly recommend.

Basically just not great, and I mean all of it. Well the salsa was ok, and the decor is really cool, but that’s about where it ends. Cheese dip: flavorless and almost sweet. Chicken quesadillas: literally about half the portion size of other Mexican restaurants. And not very good. Bowls: two table mates had them and I’m told they were just under mediocre. Beef quesadilla: same description as above. Texas margarita: ick. Sweet. And lots of sour mix. Check this out. My friend ordered her margarita with Patron in it, as she has to be careful because of an allergy. They upcharged her by $15. My marg was $11.99, hers was $26.99. Same size. (To be fair, they did state that there would be an upcharge, but I’d have never expected it to more than double). Yikes. Service was ok, they were nice enough. The waitress was new and was trying to be very thorough, by repeating everything back to us, which I totally appreciate. It probably goes without saying, but I would not recommend going here.

Very friendly and quick service. The food was good as well, with a sports bar vibe. We were full after the entrées but decided to indulge in dessert too and tried Pan de Elote Brulee. It was amazing.

It was my first time visiting the place and the place is so spacious with friendly servers who made our time so comfortable. The food was amazing! Definitely coming back again : )

This place is now my new favorite Mexican restaurant! I live north of Atlanta, and this is definitely worth the drive! In Athens for work over a few weeks, this my go-to spot for dinners! From a smoked Old Fashioned, to a huge chimichanga... Love it! Try the San Angel burrito! Black beans with grilled chicken, chorizo, and pineapple to add a gorgeous burst of flavor to the spice. I can't stop ordering it! Friendliest staff, owners and managers make you feel welcome! Great atmosphere! A definite MUST EAT in Athens!

Just tried it here. Absolutely loved it. Very cool ambience, attentive service and delicious food! The owner was so gracious. The prices are comparable and the portions are generous. Plenty of good seating huge bar and lots of parking

We recently tried out this restaurant and it did not disappoint. I ordered a steak street taco and a chicken street taco, with a side of beans and rice. It was extremely good, and the portions were generous. I ordered the skinny margarita, which is made with fresh squeezed limes- very fresh. My husband had the cheesesteak tacos and they were delicious. The servers were very attentive, and I counted 10 TVs in the main dining room. There is also a rooftop bar and entertainment area, but it was closed for a private party during our visit. We definitely plan to come back again.

Absolutely terrible food. Super kind service, great people, but terrible food. It made me and my mother both sick. Her burrito was horrible and my quesadilla had uncooked onions and tasted like nothing. The fries were great though! But I would not ever eat here again unless forced.

Nice and new! Service was excellent, and ambiance was a cool vibe. Food was tasty and generous portions too. We were not disappointed!

Great food and good service, but the constant reggaeton on high volume kills the experience.

So I really like the atmosphere - it is a clean, bright and cheery place. Fantastic chips and salsa. However this is the second time I've eaten there and have been disappointed both times. This time I went in for a taco "salad". I realized while eating it that although the menu said it came "on a bed of lettuce" as is typical, there was none. Alerting the manager - she first denied that taco salads have salad like a bed of lettuce and asked if I ever had one at another restaurant! When I showed her the menu, instead of offering to bring me some lettuce, she told me she would alert someone (who about what?). Did not comp or even discount the meal. As for the dish, the beef was very salty and what they did serve came in a tortilla bowl much smaller than in the one most places serve their taco salads.

I am not one to write reviews, but our entire experience was beyond AMAZING!!!!! We got the birria tacos, birria quesadilla, a mojito, & smoked old fashioned. Seriously one of the best meals we have ever had!!! Our server, Claire is the epitome of amazing, thoughtful, and helpful. We seriously had the best service in the world. Our food and drinks were out so quickly and were absolutely perfect!! The owner is so kind & the atmosphere is incredible. We will be loyal lifelong customers & recommend this place to everyone!!! So happy to support San Angel!!

Service was slow considering they were not busy, but still very friendly. Restaurant was clean and tables were spacious. Food was mostly good. I did have a big problem with their drink prices. Beer was very modest at $6. My spouse ordered the small size margarita with patron. Then ordered another a size up. To our surprise those two drink were $61 when the bill came (although I had to ask for an itemized copy). $21 and $40. Which I thought was ridiculous and was genuinely shocked. I spoke to the manager and he said those prices were not on the menu and I could tell he was not going to budge on the point. We paid, left the server 20%, and will not be back. We were really looking forward to our first visit to San Angel but sadly disappointed at the experience and lack of courtesy & transparency. That's our typical drink order when we go out and have never paid more than $20 for the larger Patron margarita. So ask for drink prices before you order them.

Doubt we'll go back. Beautiful building. Good atmosphere. Clean bathroom. Server was really nice. Good salsa. Then the premium skinny margaritas came and they really weren't good. Then the food came and it was bland at best. Sad. I really thought we had a winner, but no.

We had a great experience here! Everyone was so friendly, the place was clean, and the food was delicious. highly recommend the birria bowl. 10/10!

Order food way before other tables. Each table received food before us. It was only 2 of us. Had to ask for ice at least 4 times. Had to ask another server to find ours. Other tables had more people. Service was awful. Never going back!

Great atmosphere and clean. Food was decent. Main complaint was with the very overpriced drinks. Service was slow. The bill given to us was non detailed and when we asked why it was so high, no explanation was given. I do not reccomend San Angel. I guess it's Auga Linda all the way!

Too loud! While the staff was very nice, the food was nothing special. The margaritas were sadly very bad.
