Do you have those friends who like to ask you things like "oh my God how are you not 400 pounds with all you eat?" or "how do you not get fat??" all the time? If you're a girl, then I'm sure the answer is yes because girls always love to give their girl friends Hell over what they eat, even if it's a salad, because ya'll are just some guilt loving fools like that. If you're a guy, it's probably less likely, unless you have lots of girl friends, which I happen to be the victim of.
I generally don't tell them the secret that when I eat at home it's usually quite healthy, and combined with a decent workout it's not all that difficult to refrain from turning into a bloated bastard, even if I'm not quite in my high school wrestling shape anymore, weighing in at a whole 150 pounds. One of the biggest challenges though is working out while I'm on vacation, especially because I like to EAT.A.LOT. when I travel. So, most of the time I just pack some running shoes and go out for a few miles each day to keep the metabolism going and make a somewhat mild attempt to at least burn off a few drinks from the night before, if not the food.
While I was staying in San Diego my friend happened to be living right next to the SDSU campus, so most morning while she was working I would go here for a peaceful run, soaking in the beautiful sights. Fortunately for me it was summer, which meant the only folks on campus were gardeners and kids taking tours, but I'm guessing most guys wouldn't mind running into a bit of what April M describes in her review, "Hot white girls walk around campus in mini skirts & Ugg boots. GOOO AZTECS!" Now that's some school pride.
While the white girls might have been lacking, there was no shortage of pleasures for the eye, as my phone camera caught several dozen different flower species, including some knockout roses, humongous sunflowers, and quite a lot of butterfly bushes. I'm a huge horticulture lover, so running through this campus was a real treat for me. I always tried to finish somewhere around the koi pond, for a nice sanctuary in the shade to relax and stretch.
I can't tell you what the frat parties are like, how good the faculty is, whether the food in the commissary will make your stomach turn, or even if it's a good value for an education, but I can say that if you go to school here you really have no reason for being out of shape. If the "hot white girls in mini skirts" aren't enough to encourage you (or make you feel insecure, if you happen to be another girl), consider that while you're breathing some of the freshest air in the country, and enjoying a climate that on the worst of days fluctuates 15 degrees, the rest of us are still running in a less beautiful setting, trying to keep our pant size from going up for the first time since college ended.
