San Diego Surf

This experience was great overall. We were visiting from Wyoming and Our son Diego (born with only his right hand, nothing past his elbow on the left arm) wanted to learn to surf… and we honestly think Doug was the best instructor he could have had. Doug was extremely kind and patient and his personality shines bright. He keeps it light and cracks jokes from time to time but knows when to get serious. After a brief training session and some practice, Diego was up and riding full waves all the way to the shore in no time. Definitely recommend!

Amazing experience for our son 10 years old. After a thorough safety and ground training he hit the water and rode his first wave in. The on shore training really had him ready for the water and spend the rest of the afternoon riding waves. Great Experience!

Doug and Ellie were super awesome. Had all 4 of us up and surfing having a ton on fun within the first few waves. Highly recommend, took us out to a really great spot. Very encouraging just like a good sport coach. Highly recommend no matter what skill level. Could always use more surf coaching and improvement. Thanks again Doug!

Don and Titus were great! Lots of communication before our session so we knew exactly where to meet and what to expect. They were really good with our 2 12 yr old girls. Really gave them excellent instruction and made sure they had fun!

My sister and I were looking for a good introductory lesson and Doug and Kristy were great! We learned a lot, got some evidence (pics and video) and a t-shirt. It was a lot of fun and I’d highly recommend - it was a good deal and great instruction. I’d do more lessons if I was out for more time. Doug also matched the Groupon rate that we had found, so we bought our lesson directly from his website. I recommend booking directly with Doug (call him) instead of going through a third party service.

Can't say enough wonderful things about Doug and San Diego Surf! From his exciting personality to his patience when we got lost trying to find him on the beach, he was great! My son and I went to Oceanside for the sole reason of learning to surf! We had lots of options, but no one took care of us like Doug! His experience shines through! On sand instruction was interesting and informative and we could hit the water surfing! We were up on our boards in no time at all! His knowledge of the surf and techniques are amazing! I had a wonderful experience with my first surf lesson with Doug and his assistant instructors. They were all super friendly and patient, making me feel comfortable and confident in the water. Been surfing twice before. First time in Nicaragua and it was so bad that I had some PTSD and didn’t care to try again. Then I tried again in Portugal for a much better round 2, but after a couple hours I only got up once or twice. Doug and Titus were awesome. They were thorough, encouraging, and patient. Within 20 minutes in the water I was standing a vast majority of the time while pushing myself a little harder each time and learning through reps. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
