I grew up here and love this place. But I'm giving it a five-star review because we held an event here last Saturday and the staff bent over backward for us. They are so professional and helpful. Can't thank them enough. The facility had all the equipment we needed for our event. It was just so well managed. Thank you!!!

Always an awesome experience during Obon Festivals, Community Fundraisers, Events, and Activities

This was most beautiful set of people I've ever met. The whole experience There was the best being a stranger for the first time.

We had a wonderful visit there. We would recommend this as a great cultural experience to anyone.

Wonderful thriving community center. I was a guest of my friend who is. a Gold Star family member. Her Uncle is a Medal of Honor recipient. I attended a Memorial Day ceremony and it was lovely. I was honored to be a guest and felt very welcomed. There are many programs and activities at this center and also a connection with the Buddhist Temple located on the property.

My Daughter goes to Japanese school on Saturday mornings here and she loves it. Not only does she get to learn more Japanese, but has made a lot of good friends she looks forward to spending time with each week. They teach not only how to speak, read and write, but they also teach the kids and families about the Japanese culture as well. My wife also went here when she was a child and made life long friends. The school is very grassroots style and is focused on the kids and the families, with many volunteers from the families and great teachers that have been with the school for many, many years. It is really a labor of love for all involved with the school. They also have adult language classes for parents interested in learning Japanese as well. We are very involved with the SFVJLI (San Fernando Valley Japanese Language Institute) as well as the Japanese Community Center that is connected to the campus. The Community Center supports the Japanese American community and has many fun events throughout the year as well, like Obon, which is fun festival to celebrate our ancestors. My kids also participate in the Basketball league through the CC, Just one more of the fun benefits of the CC. If you are looking for a new experience and have always wanted your kids to learn Japanese or even yourself, I would recommend you checking out the SFVJLI. It is a great school and well worth your time. Enjoy.

My daughter has been attending the Japanese language program since she was 5-6 yrs old and she'll be a senior in high school this year. She's been able to skip language courses in high school and will be able to apply credits to college. Her older brother when through the same program. Aside from learning language and culture, she's made some good friends. The 4hr Saturday classes provides a positive routine for her. I believe learning a another language has made it easier for her to apply to other complex language...like the language of Calculus and Physics. Understanding different ways of looking at our world and how we all relate as a human race. The bigger picture for sure. Every teacher has been very friendly and supportive for my daughter's growth. There are a few fundraisers throughout the year to keep the school going. Tuition is extremely fair. The Obon Festival is a big summer event.

This event was fun but smaller than the other Obon Festival in So Cal. The food and entertainment was good. The snow cones was tasteful and colorful. The taiko drummer was the highlight of the festival. The Obon dancing was fun as well.

We go here literally every single year. This is a great local event with tons of food and traditional Japanese fun. Get here early for parking and bring plenty of water.
