Loreto, Mexico Travel Guide

"About a 45-minute drive into the mountains, this mission is described as one of the best-preserved in Baja, set in a lush desert oasis; the nearby San Javier Farm Restaurant is highlighted as a farm-to-table complement perfect for rounding out a day trip." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. We stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday, and were delighted to have an amazing meal. First course, a fresh beet salad, second course I had the fish with an adobo sauce made with chilis from the farm, and roasted vegetables. Hubby had the grilled skirt steak, which he raved about, followed by a port wine braised pear. Absolutely sweet people. I took a photo of the flowers in the back, and one of the ladies came and gave me three of them in water to take home. Do not miss this fantastic fresh, simple, yet gourmet restaurant. Ambiance with the fountains was also lovely.

It is worth visiting San Javier just to eat at this restaurant. We had a great lunch. Our food had a wonderful combination of local spices and flavors. After lunch the chef gave us a tour of his garden.

Amazing hidden gem! Portions are very big for a late lunch, we easily could've gotten away with splitting an entree. Only downside might be that it's a bit expensive for where it's at for lunch. But still a must do if you're in San Javier.

I would give this 10 stars across the board if I could. We did dinner under the stars and it was worth every penny and more. We felt like VIPs from the moment we walked through the gate and it was like walking into a luxury piece of heaven. The food was exceptional, the service impeccable, The projection screen gave us all kinds of historical information, and mother nature did the rest with a glorious sky of stars. They picked us up in town and chauffeured us so we didn't even have to worry about over indulging in their strawberry margaritas and wine. I'll never be a fan of cilantro on my dessert, but I can't stop thinking about their passion fruit dressing for the zucchini carpacio. The carrot soup and flank steak were also amazing.

We met Louis at the mission and he invited us to his restaurant, the Farm, for lunch. This was the best meal of our vacation to Loreto. My wife had the most perfectly cooked yellow tale and I had a delicious flank steak.  The vegetables were cooked but crunchy and the entire meal was nicley seasoned.  Plus the atmoshere was calm and beautiful.  If you are at the San Javier Mission don't miss lunch at the Farm.

Worth the 5 minute drive past San Javier Mision. Skip the bars at the mision and enjoy a meal at this oasis. peacado y ancherara steak grilled in outdoor oven with local wood, farm to table meal. Full bar, a very memorable meal. Our 2 lunch dishes, 2 margaritas and 1 cervesa were 1250 pesos. Well worth it.

This farm restaurant is a hidden gem! It's a lovely garden setting in the midst of dry mountains. And the food was awesome! I can't wait to go back and bring friends.

We were very pleased with our lunch, the tuna sashimi was spectacular and it was a real treat seeing the greens freshly picked from the garden for the beet salad.
