Our stay at Hotel San Jose Hostal was excellent! The place is charming, with a welcoming atmosphere and spotlessly clean rooms. It provided a peaceful and comfortable environment, making it a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The breakfast was delicious, offering a variety of fresh and tasty options that set a great tone for the day. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Overall, a fantastic experience and highly recommended for anyone visiting Salvador.

Truely a very good place to stay when in San Salvador. Family run, overall clean, secure, very good breakfast. Rooms in my experience are small but typical to many smaller B&B and budget hotels / hostels and always clean accommodations and linens. English is spoken by Yolanda's (manager) son.||||when in San Salvador the Hotel San Jose Hostal is my choice for a friendly comfortable place to stay. Plus several good restaurants within close proximity.

We recently spent 3 nights here, and I had to take photos of every nook, it is so cozy, yet with its open breakfast area/patio, so breezy and open. Our room overlooked the patio, and was nice and cool without A/C. The breakfasts were delicious, and were included in the price - be sure to try the El Salvador "desayuno tipico" and the French toast!||||The hotel is in a tranquil, safe neighborhood, and the concierge staff and the security were excellent. It is near one of the main bus terminals, and the Metro Centro Mall. The desk staff was accommodating, helped us contact our tour operator, and answered all our questions in excellent English. In general, everything at this small hotel was perfect, and it is a great value in a large modern city where accommodations can be pricey.

This is one of the best places we've stayed whilst travelling over the last 10 months. The owner was really friendly and helpful - gave us maps and an umbrella - and the rest of the staff were really friendly too. ||It's like a 2* hotel (European standard) - clean, quiet, AC and fan, good wifi, cable TV, very comfortable bed, great shower with soap and shampoo provided. ||I think we paid $22 a night for a double room with ensuite, including tax and a really good breakfast. ||There are 3 good places to eat within about 50 metres - the pizza in the pizzeria is the best we've had in South and Central America (if you like English pizza) and the beer is really cheap, plus there's a really nice atmosphere and good food Establos. ||It takes about 40 minutes to walk into the centre or it's really easy to catch a bus into the centre or to the volcano.

Nice place to stay for a visit to San Salvador, good value within a secure property, no one seemed to speak English, but don't let that put you off visiting, the lady uses google translate and all is well. The morning guy does a good breakfast included in the price. You can walk down the street to a few nice places for dinner. A taxi to the city is around $5

We stayed here after flying into El Salvador for a six week holiday. We chose this hostal which is infact more like a hotel due to it being in the safer part of town. The hostal is a ten minute taxi ride away from downtown and there is nothing really around in the neighborhood. There was nobody else staying in the hotel that we could see and for a double room costing $45 we thought this was very expensive. The breakfast was very nice in the morning with fresh coffee, fruit toast and eggs. Unfortunately the staff there spoke no English but they were able to get us a translator who spoke really good English and was able to tell us how to get out of town and the few sights there were to see. The hotel was clean but very basic with no hot water.

I would definitely stay here again. Friendly staff, clean rooms, safe part of town. It is not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive. If you're looking for a nice little cozy place with breakfast included, then stay here. Free wifi. Be ready to speak Spanish.

We went to San Salvador for a Zoe concert (which was unfortunately cancelled). This place was located only minutes away from good restaurants, a university, and the concert venue. Staff were helpful and I enjoyed the breakfast. Extra points for "show" as the "chef" brings out your breakfast in full garb, chef hat, etc. ||||Aircon was definitely necessary in San Salvador.
