This place opens at 4am and it's useless to come before that. You will become one of those people sleeping on the ground. Could have mentioned somewhere on the website or near the entrance: "Don't come before 4am." The self-service kiosk does not work for international flights - saw a few people try to scan their passport and nothing comes out. I have no idea for flight departing at 5:45 and supposedly boarding at 5:15 how can international travellers arrive 3hr prior for there is no one helping here. Not enough chairs on the first floor for departure at the Delta site - only three. Nothing to do while waiting for it to open except writing Google reviews - no power outlet, no automatic selling machines, no TV. I think someone could make a business selling breakfast around 3-4 am here. Good sanctuary for homeless and looks like quite a few live here as well. The interesting thing is you can walk around freely exploring as long as it's not blocked. P.S. I have to say by 4am there is already a long line so probably still worth coming a bit earlier.

Google
Very sleek and efficient airport with plenty of Alaska Airlines flights. The Friday morning standard security line, remarkably, had nobody in line, creating a sub-one minute process.

Google
Very nice airport to travel through. All signage is very clear to understand. Clear direction to get to rental car lot, shuttle area, bus area, and pick up drop off areas. Very clean and organized. Unfortunately, some of the outlets didn't work so I wasn't able to charge my devices while I waited for my flight.

Google
Nice easy airport in and out. Can use some updating. No Delta lounge, plan accordingly. Ok food choices.

Google
Airport has a nice dog run before security. It also has CokeZero at more than one fast food spot. Chick-Fil-A was super fresh. There’s also a Smashburger (with more solid ice/Chick-Fil-a has crushed which melts faster). Nice small airport.

Google
San Jose Airport (SJC) is compact, clean, and easy to navigate. It offers quick security lines, modern amenities, and plenty of food options. Parking and rental car services are convenient, and it’s well-connected to downtown. Ideal for a stress-free travel experience!

Google
I really like SJC. It has great flight schedules and a number of airlines to choose from. It's much more convenient than SFO. They are continuing to make improvements in the terminal which is great!

Google
Clean and Convenient Airport San Jose International Airport is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. There are plenty of food options available, making it convenient for travelers. A smooth and pleasant experience overall!

Yelp
Used this airport to get to the Santa Clara area for a 49ers game, instead of going to SFO. Honestly thought it would be a hole in the wall. But to my complete surprise it was very modern, with many nice eating options. As soon as you step outside Uber & metro bus options are easy to locate with clear & simple signage. If i ever need the San Jose or Santa Clara I will not hesitate to use this airport.

Yelp
Stopped thru SJC via ATL. This used to be by home airport back in the day when we were living in NorCal. Highly impressed on the renovations that have been done. Gate announcements are easily heard through the airport. TSA screening with pre check was a breeze (was early morning and I'm used to ATL now). Food options are great and looks like they are going to add Pizza my Heart and Bad Egg Breakfast bar among other selections. Kudos to SJC for becoming a more flight accessible airport (compared to almost 8 yrs ago) and saving my wife and I from trudging thru SFO (which is always unpredictable in the mornings RE: fog (read ground stops).

Yelp
This was an interesting visit, as the process of renting a car seemed so much more arduous than necessary! Now granted, flying with a toddler is tough, but EESH, adding picking up a rental was tougher. We took the courtesy bus to the rental portion of the airport where all the rental businesses were located. Although, we did not use Entreprise this time, I did find it odd that their agents were on a different floor. We had booked with Budget and booked a car seat as well. We had to travel to the 4th floor to pick up the car seat, and then head to the 5th floor to get our car. The agents who helped us were all VERY nice, but the steps to take after getting off a grueling flight (two hours only for us haha!) drains you fast. We ended up picking up our SUV, got our car seat installed, and drove away. We'll see how our return goes, but I can't imagine it being rough.

Yelp
This is my local airport and find it one of the absolute best airports out of all the others I have travelled to/from! First, it's clean and modern! Second, the security lines are VERY efficient. Good selection of eating places and shops during wait times. Parking and shared rides designated areas organized and accessible. Two terminals A and B and have not had too much times spent in A, but only B. Baggage Claim area also has good layout, easy to find, and efficient system.

Annabelle R.

Yelp
I usually travel from here to destinations not too far away. Nothing fancy about this airport, but I rarely encounter problems, unreasonable lines, or anything problematic worth noting. This past weekend, it took only 10 minutes to get through the small pre-security line plus through security check itself. Wow, a great experience on a Saturday morning! I find it interesting that they have 24-hour self-serve kiosks for random items like socks with fun designs. The eateries here are minimal and not too unique or impressive, but there's a big enough selection to choose from, and some new eateries coming soon too. Several offerings for coffee include both Peet's and Starbucks, along with Great American Bagel Bakery. During our recent visit, we got the sausage sunrise from this cafe, a satisfying breakfast bagel sandwich. I had some bites from San Jose Mac n Cheese Kitchen as well, to fill my hunger before my flight. It was decent. I fly out of here enough to know it's just a simple airport but gets the job done... meaning easy straightforward travel. I only flew outta here a few times this year (Portland, San Diego, and my most recent trip to Vegas), but it's a good enough experience every time.

Yelp
Great small airport. Everyone is always helpful and friendly I fly into this airport frequently and have never once encountered an issue

Yelp
Due to our very late, last second bookings for our Nashville and Memphis, TN trip, this airport had the only direct flights with Southwest. Quality/Quantity - Easy in and out. Our friends dropped us off and picked us up. Because we were only doing carry ons with this trip, it was super easy and fast. So we did not spend much time at this airport. Security had no lines, even easier than Oakland! Atmosphere - Super early flight, so limited dining options. See pictures. Easy drop off and pick up. Strict security for people "parking" during pick up. A whistle happy employee; I almost got a headache... Service - Good. Southwest check in via mobile app. TSA, no lines. Boarding was no issue, although the two bag policy has become VERY strict and can hold up the line. Price - Depends on who you fly with. We pay extra and obviously go out of our way for direct flights. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1945. 1945 - One dirt runway airport. 1949 - First commercial flight. 1960's - Airport kept getting extended.

Yelp
First time flying out of San Jose Mineta International Airport and was pleasantly surprised with the experience. I would usually fly from Oakland or SFO but when checking for flights to San Diego (quick trip), San Jose ended up being the best option. Airport is smaller but efficient in getting you through security and to your terminal without the crowds of other airports. Customers meandering the terminal seem less stress/tense and pleasant. Restrooms were clean, staff friendly and when I got checked at security....I forgot I had blue ice (for some chocolates) which is acceptable if frozen. Parking convenient if you're flying from Terminal A which are the bigger airlines. Of course if you're flying from Terminal B, you're gonna have to put some steps in. Parking will range from $18 (15 min shuttle ride) to $30 (closest to the terminals) which I opted for and walked...all....the...way...down to Terminal B which was about a 10-12 minute walk with a carry on...no biggie and a learning experience. Limited eating spots at Terminal B: Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Gordon Biersch.

Mei T.

Yelp
Fun Fact: Did you know that in 1949, the first commercial flight at San Jose Mineta International Airport (a Southwest Airways DC-3) landed with 2 pilots, 7 passengers... and 2,550 baby chickens?! Only the chicks got off at San Jose; the human passengers continued to Los Angeles. 2025 marks the 75th Anniversary of this airport, so it's no surprise that there's a giant blowup chick in their baggage claim area. The airport was very clean and easy to navigate around the gates and terminals.

Yelp
San Jose International Airport (SJC) is a midsize airport located in the heart of Silicon Valley, making it incredibly convenient for those flying in and out for business with nearby tech companies. I arrived on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised by how uncrowded it was inside and outside the airport. SJC is divided into three areas: Terminal A, International Terminal, and Terminal B. There's just one main roundabout for drop-off and pick-up, but compared to most airports I've been to, navigating the layout was very straightforward. Even the pick-up area wasn't congested. While there aren't many stores or food options, the few that are there cover the basics. The airport is clean, well-maintained, and fully air-conditioned, making it comfortable to move through. It's also smaller compared to major airports, so getting from check-in to your gate is quick and easy. Overall, SJC may not have the vast variety of amenities that larger airports offer, but it delivers in terms of convenience, cleanliness, and ease of travel. If you're looking for a no-fuss, simple airport experience in Silicon Valley, this is a great option.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Great airport to fly in and out, especially if your destination is Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Jose, or the South Bay Area. I've flown through SJC a dozen plus times and it is always one of the easiest airports to navigate. The terminal is clean and rarely busy with some decent food options including a Chick-fil-A and a Pete's Coffee. They also offer CLEAR so I can walk right to the front, although there is rarely a line. The rental car center is located directly across from the terminal, and the location to catch ride share and shuttles is on a median in between the terminal and rental car center.

Stanton Y.

Yelp
Very clean. Beautiful. Much nicer than Terminal A. Lol. Both Terminals should be nice regardless international or not. You want to show the people from other countries how beautiful the terminal is. Well, show our home people how beautiful you can make the domestic terminal A. People living in this country needs to have a beautiful airport too

Linda H.

Yelp
Very nice airport. Visited here in 2017 and it looks like they did some upgrades. Beautiful floors. Lots of restaurants. Surprisingly not too busy on a Saturday afternoon.

Doug L.

Yelp
Red eye flights out of SJC are rare but caught one to IAH on United. There was no traffic at all driving into the airport. After getting dropped off at departures I headed up to security in the second floor. There was no line at TSA pre check and I was through it in less than five minutes. This had to be a record. I was surprised to see a couple restaurants still open along with shops. Not sure if they make money at this hour of the night. I walked through both terminals to get my last steps recorded for the day and kill time while waiting for my flight to board. Definitely a great time to use SJC if one doesn't mind redeyes or late night flights.

Dang N.

Yelp
It's been year since I've been to this airport. I was amazed at how different it is. It's huge. Huge. Or maybe the better word is spacious. Definitely no issues driving in or getting picked up. Lanes are super clear and security is quick. Really was a solid airport.

Scott K.

Yelp
Two terminals here with close up parking options. Small scale but everything here went smoothly. Walks to gate and such were super short since only about 20 gates at each terminal. Wish all major airports could be this simple and short walks to where you need to go!

Sherie K.

Yelp
I fly here at least once or twice a year and never have any issues! The airport is always clean, nice restrooms and has plenty of eating options !

Evangelene G.

Yelp
This year is the first time I have traveled through SJC instead of Oakland. There is nothing wrong with Oakland, my choice was based on air fares. Easy parking but I noticed it's $10 more to park in the garage vs outside. I can use the extra steps! - Going through TSA was easy. - Restaurant options such as Chick Fil A and Trader Vic's, and many more! - Baggage claim is close to the entrance and easy to access. Once you get your bag, it's a quick walk to your car. - Easy access to 880. I will fly through here again, it's so easy!

Melissa G.

Yelp
I love this airport. Easily navigatable, plenty of flights to chose from. I'll gladly take a short layover to fly into SJC versus a direct flight into SFO.

Troy T.

Yelp
Smaller airport with lots of travel destinations. Flights seem to run on time. The TSA lines here are slow which is unfortunate as the terminals are close-by. Rental car area is also slow. Place is kept clean and there are good places to eat. A lot of business traffic flows through here during the week.

Sowmya V.

Yelp
My first time in San Jose domestic airport was good. I didn't experience any issues finding my bag or finding domestic transportation or navigating the airport. However, the second time I flew out, I had an uncomfortable and near-racist experience with an airport security staff. I'm still reeling from it, in fact. The lady who assisted passengers while they remove their belongings helped remove the bins for everyone with a smile. When it was my turn, her facial expression and tone changed and she ordered me instead to "Put the bin where it belongs". I did as she told me to, but had to stop for a few minutes in the seating area to make sure I wasn't overthinking it. The minute I cleared my belongings, there was that same smile again on her face and she was back to helping everyone. I still don't know what to make of the experience at this airport. P.S.: I'm Indian and wore a bhindi (Red dot) on my forehead that day.

Lyn L.

Yelp
11/22/23 Heading down to LA for Thanksgiving. SJC is such a convenient airport. Small enough so it's not a hassle. For Thanksgiving SW said to arrive at least 2 hours before flight time! Yikes! I'm in a 6:30 flight. Got here at 5....Clear zips you through. Nice convenient airport. I recommend it here

Katherine R.

Yelp
Easisest airport travel I've been to. The gates are on the second floor whether you're arrival or departure. On the 1st floor is where all checkins and baggage claims are. All rental cars are across the street. It's an entire bldg, very hard to miss.

Elisa G.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite airports! It's so easy to get in and out of and it's so beautiful inside

Sarah J.

Yelp
This Air port was clean and organized- I would fly out from there again! I used south west and- as usual it was pleasant

Rachel B.

Yelp
Besides the checkin with great morning greetings all through checkin.... The restaurant Jim Stumps taproom n kitchen had a great bartender Alberto , who was most attentive to our needs. The whole team or workers were so nice n outgoing. We order the smoked salmon sandwich for breakfast and it was sooo delicious along with a Bloody Mary drink! So happy with a great start on vacation!!

Yelp
Carol section 25 by chick fill a she is amazing lady she helped my sister and has well our dad to get rebooking to see our little sister who's in the marines and I'm very thankful for her. Thank you carol we appreciate you!!

Ann T.

Yelp
Bare bones simple airport. No hassle or fuss. There are times where it's particularly empty and fast to go through and other times where it's filled with traffic and busy (nothing near as horrendous as LAX though) The terminals to leave are not spaced too far so I have not had the instance (knock on wood) where I had to make a mad dash to go to my flight. TSA is efficient. Had an issue on my ticket that was easily remediated in under 10 minutes (the slowing factor was my own speed on my 2 feet), so that was neat. Not a bad airport! Please do a collaboration with Fanime though, since lots of out of town/state people fly in here for the con!

Maruko X.

Yelp
The SJC has been recognized as the best midsize airport in the states, according to the WSJ's 2023 airport rankings. It's convenient for domestic and international flights, with easy navigation to get in and out of the airport. The signs for directions are very clear to follow.

Carmen C.

Yelp
It's very disappointing, especially since San Jose is the "heart" of Silicon Valley. This is regarding the American Airlines terminal. The bathrooms were dirty, and everyone was looking around for toilet paper. Also, there is lack of vendors! Dunkin' Donuts was the only spot selling coffee. Because of that, the line was so long! Again for being in such an expensive area, you would Expect more.

Carolen M.

Yelp
Just a quick update. SJC is generally our go-to airport as it's the closest to us and we don't have to deal with the Oakland airport craziness up north. There have been a lot of new additions in terms of food at this place, but of course we don't particular partake in the stores here as we usually fly out and arrive here and it's not a spot we do a stop over. Besides that, it's definitely not a bad choice for an airport in the bay area though I feel like Oakland does have less delays than SFO and SJC.

Jim M.

Yelp
This place just continues to go downhill. I travel every week and have for years and it's getting dirtier and the services are getting worse. One of the men's bathrooms in the B terminal is so disgusting smelling that you have to hold you breath at the urinal. And it's very obvious it hasn't been cleaned in months because I see the exact same stuff up there on the ledge (including some broken children's toy). I frequently see sinks out of soap, counters very messy, floors dirty and mostly smelly. They can't seem to get restaurants with any quality and tonight we went to a Una' Mas as we frequently do and the restaurants in that area were all open but they closed the entire dining area! Are you kidding me? Both places were out of food, Smashburger had only fries and chicken nuggets. My wife ordered a Coke and the worker put down a mop, took her order, she paid and the lady went back to mopping. A few other people came up to order burgers (no signs saying they were out) so she stopped mopping to go to the counter and one by one tell them they were out of burgers but made no effort for my wife's drink. Finally she had to ask for her drink and the lady seemed put out. If you ever fly out of gate 29-30 (SWA) it's the worse gate ever, seating is very awkward and not close to the boarding lines, super crowded and very insufficient. They put some extra wooden bench seating outside Gate 28 but it's too hard for me to hear the announcements. I cringe every time I see that as my boarding gate. A few years ago they built a new SWA wing and most of us frequent flyers refer to that section (Gates 30-36) as the "Motel 6" wing. Narrow hallway, long walk with only a couple kiosks. There are times on my weekly flights that I dread SJC Mineta so much I am tempted to just fly into SFO and make the drive.

Peter W.

Yelp
They were pretty angry when I tried to photograph one of the pigeons flying through the concourse. I was walking towards one of the gates at the terminal I was flying out of and one of the pigeons seemed to do a fly-by. The area around this airport is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. The VTA in-and-out of this airport is openly hostile, especially if you're trying to get to Campbell. Don't ask me why.

Ana B.

Yelp
This is a small airport that gets you into Silicon Valley and to Levi stadium. There's not a lot of direct flights anymore but it's a great small airport. I flew into San Jose on Southwest and the only odd thing was walking through an outside walkway to get to baggage claim. On the way out - I flew delta - there was no line at the check in counter and with TSA pre check I went through the line in a minute. I like small airports and it looks like they're redoing some of their concessions. Not a bad airport - it was my first time!

Jamal C.

Yelp
I am so glad this a smaller airport. I had some difficulties before arriving here. I was able to get to my gate in good timing. There were more shops open & a few places to grab breakfast. Great spot to fly in and out of San Jose.

Kevin C.

Yelp
Very nice airport to travel through. All signage is very clear to understand. Clear direction to get to rental car lot, shuttle area, bus area, and pick up drop off areas. Very clean and organized. Unfortunately, some of the outlets didn't work so I wasn't able to charge my devices while I waited for my flight.

Eva G.

Yelp
Had an early flight in the am. Not busy compared to later in the day. I kinda liked it as I didn't have to deal with the crowds, chaos and standing in long lines to purchase coffee/ snacks.

Eddie G.

Yelp
Great little airport but it does lack variety in terms of food restaurants. Only place to find coffee is Dunkin Donuts and I am not a fan. Been here multiple times and the restaurants always have very little people in them. Not a busy airport at all.

Chelle K.

Yelp
I've had great experiences flying in and out of the San Jose airport. The people are friendly & helpful from the ticket agents to security to TSA to the vendor staff. Things also seem organized and non-hectic. I love the variety of food vendors, bars, and shops and the overall cleanliness of the airport is impressive!

Dara M.

Yelp
Sprawling and yet small for an international airport, I appreciate San Jose airport. While it may not have a yoga space, it is spacious and I can always find some unoccupied area to stretch. The airport is constantly adapting- new restaurants regularly pop up, including future Einstein Brothers. It's clean, updated with modern aesthetics and beautiful windows with unlimited views of the airplanes. There are water stations to fill up bottles, AEDs in regular intervals, and is handicapped accessible. Speaking from personal experience, you might consider a wheelchair escort if on crutches because it is quite long. Love this airport so much.

Natasha C.

Yelp
My fav airport & hometown. I typically get through traffic and TSA fairly quickly. DOMESTIC I'll spend about 5 min with Clear to get through TSA. Then it is usually a short walk from there to my gate which is another 5 minutes. Boarding is also quick at 5 min. INTERNATIONAL I've flown to Mexico at SJC. This is a great small airport to get in and out of. Just arrive 2 hours to make sure you have no issues with checking in your luggage. Hope to come back soon.

Steven S H C.

Yelp
TSA: sucks big time. It's amazing that TSA here does not follow the federal standards. What makes this place so bad? 1st of all, their grey tote is huge and you will know why. All electronics, including phones and notebooks stays in backpacks or purses. Plus all loose items needs to be out of the pocket and put into the bags. Basically, consolidate into one huge pile. Well. By now, the pile is so big and high, TSA has to use a heavy paper weight (size of one ream of copy paper) to push down. Now, since it is so high and has so many items, the agent handling the scanner has so many things to look at. They had to rescan many totes while we were waiting for ours. Mine wasn't exception either. Late Tuesday evening, there were small number of travelers, but the TSA line at the back end had so many people waiting for their belongings. "I want my shoes!" A lot of travelers are complaining about the TSA line taking so long at this airport security line and I can just imagine chaos during busier times with these types idiotic practice which does not make sense at all.

Joel C.

Yelp
For the many that have taken the flights in the evening if you're going to the many Northern States with the many layovers there is one airport is the artist dream with the many wood formations and the wood paneled seating designs are some of the bests for the back but when you have a long flight you need the comfort seat of padding. The layover flight that I was booked on by Southwest Airlines that departed out of San Diego heading toward the state of Nevada I didn't know what to expect when I arrived in the city of San Jose having the first there thinking what's going to be for dinner. Southwest Airlines told me the flight was going to be for over an hour, yet the connection layover was just under the 45min minute mark that gave me some time to take a walk about San Jose International. With the way San Diego International is set up you can go to the many stations and the ticket offices you can stand in line at. With the design at The San Jose International Airport, you have one long hallway that with the TSA is in the middle where you come to the main entrance. The many retails and the restaurants can be found at either ends of the Airport with the many flights that you can see the many at the back of the Airport. With the time I had I could see the San Jose Airport has a background to the surf community and the many artistic designs they have in the airport. The many flights that I have taken there were many flights that you couldn't see there were some flights just arriving and the ones just unloading and flights that were cleaning and resupplying for the next flight. San Jose International Airport was one that had the many stores there were ones that had surf gear and the ones that sold clothes and the college shirts so many students that fly up to the many colleges that are in the Nothern Areas of Calif. For being one of the best airports when you arrive at the Airport you find the many runways are located near the grass areas with the many flights that land at the airport with the many boarding gates. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer from the many trips that I have taken have been one of the greatest and there still more to come much more in places to see for many travelers its the comfort of flights meeting loved ones at the other end of the long flight some can be long to me it's the adventure of a lifetime to see the many places and to learn of those which have never been seen. Happy Journeys to you and flights.

Maria G.

Yelp
Airports are airports and we know they can be stressful, however I'll take this one over SFO and any other large airport anytime. Plenty of places to eat and very well organized. My review is due to the wheel chair service worker we encountered, that is the reason why I took down 2 starts (I'd give it 0 but it's not the airports fault there's crappy workers). We got wheelchair service for my mom, the man who picked her up was rushing and I mean running to get through immigration and drop her off. He kept telling us (my elderly dad and me with a stroller) to hurry and basically made us run behind him. He then said "get your passports and your tip ready." My dad felt pressured to tip and only had a $10 bill. I told him it was too much for the bad and rushed service but he said he felt pressured. I was behind with my stroller and the worker got ahead in the elevator and kept screaming out, "hurry, hurry". I can't rush the officers handling our passports. I hope their leadership sees this and asks staff not to rush people and most importantly, stop asking/demanding tips.

Ashley R.

Yelp
TSA agent while i was taking out my laptop out of my backpack (was unaware of the change that you apparently dont need to do this anymore) condescendingly asked if I spoke english. as an asian woman that felt very offensive and i was very confused. i didnt say anything back and went in line for the scanner and he kept pestering me asking me how old i was (assuming in an insult way) it was absolutely ridiculous.

Michelle T.

Yelp
An airport that feels average. It's not horrible, but it's not great. The airport is small enough to feel more like a regional airport. For the most part, it was unremarkable; but the space in the concourse has lots of natural light, which makes it a bit more cheery than it really is. The assortment of food options is pretty low. There was a Chic-Fil-a with an crazy-long line, but that is to be expected- there just were not a lot of good options, CFA definitely have a monopoly on hungry travelers in that regard. Car rental pick up and return at the airport was easy, not fussy as was security. Due to lack of appealing dining options, we spent time at the Club SJC, which was about as average a lounge as one could get. Overall prepare to not be WOWED by anything at this airport other than how average it is, which can be a good thing. I'd take average and unremarkable over chaotic and frenetic any day...ahem, *looks at San Diego Airport*.

Yelp
Please don't change the name of this airport to San Francisco Airport the way the other airport located in Oakland did. We are proud to have an airport in the South Bay serving the community. SJC underwent a major renovation over the past ten years and is now a state of the art facility that is much easier to navigate.

Yelp
SJC is my go-to airport! Lines are never long, security is nice, and directions are straight-forward. Dropping off and picking people up here is never a chaotic hassle. The bathrooms are clean and maintained. They have a bunch of restaurants and spots to grab a quick snack, or you could stop by at the bars to get a quick drink! They have easy access to parking your vehicles, I recommend doing some research before you leave your car at the airport.
