We started our stay on San Juan Island with a visit to this historical museum. Very well done - we were the first visitors on a Tuesday morning. The director, Kevin, and his staff of two volunteers were very gracious and friendly. We walked the entire facility and enjoyed the displays. The volunteers even gave us great local dining recommendations for our stay. This is a worth a while stop if you’ve never been to the San Juan Islands before… You will learn a lot!!

What a lovely place to visit. Do not miss this place while visiting San Juan islands and dedicate a bit of your time to learn about the local history. It's a self-guided tour, but you'll get started by lovely staff. 😉

This was the first time I've been to the San Juan Historical Museum though I've been to the island several dozen times. The museum was fantastic! Great pieces of history both from earlier time periods and specific to the island. I loved the King's farmhouse with the phone operators board and what bedrooms looked like. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the island!

The main gems of the San Juan Islands, Friday Harbor remains one of the few fun and welcoming islands in the SJ to tourists and visitors.. unlike some of it's neighbors (Lopez) that have turned their backs on tourists in favor of rich "private beach" zoning, Friday Harbour is a refreshing throw back to the Old Identity of what the SJ Island used to represent. 10/10 will recommend.
The museum is a living testament to the islands dedication for sharing their past and present to all visitors 🫶🏽

This is a little gem parked away! Small collection of interesting buildings, many explainer boards and many neat photos.
Very nice staff. They stayed a few minutes past closing for us just so we could explore the grounds without feeling rushed.
Interesting that some of the older buildings have been moved/saved, lot of history. The main museum building is the best with recreation scenes.

A hidden gem of museum, history, and information. Great park setting. A must see on San Juan Island! , When they are open, it is amazing. After 33 years, I finally saw it when it was open :-) WOW
