I stayed here for a month for a program that I was working with in La Plata. The hotel employees are SO nice and super friendly! The breakfast is great and the homemade orange juice is out of this world. These people really made me feel at home when I was thousands of miles away from my home. Although they did not speak English fluently, they always tried to make an effort to talk to me in English to make me feel more comfortable and were very understanding of language barriers and cultural differences. The room was very nice and always cleaned. At first I was worried of leaving my things out while I was gone for the day, but I never had any problems with stolen or damaged items. I could not have asked for a better place to stay at.

I stayed at this hotel 3 times (a total of 12 weeks) over 2 long business trips to La Plata. Over that period, I stayed in 3 different hotels (San Marco Hotel, Apart Via 51, and Hotel Corregidor). The San Marco Hotel had by far the best service and the friendliest staff of the three hotels I stayed in, from the front desk staff, to the kitchen staff, to the cleaners, and even the handyman. Requests were promptly acted upon and the staff were all eager to please, even though not all of them speak English well, if at all. The rooms are well-maintained, and though they are quite small and basic, they had very good mattresses and sheets. On my third stay, my colleagues and I asked for a microwave oven and refrigerator for each of our rooms, and we got them, brand new! By the end of my last stay, the staff were like good friends already. I also liked the quality of the breakfast served there the best among the three hotels I stayed in (largely based on the medialunas, which I really liked, and the attentive staff).||||The location of the hotel is just around the corner from Plaza San Martin, one of the major squares in La Plata, and the commercial area is just 5 minutes away by walking, and the Bosque (a large public park, with the Natural History museum) is just 10 minutes away. This does mean that the rooms facing the street can be noisy at night, so best to request a room facing the inner courtyard or the rear.

The staff was very nice and available for the guests, which was a good thing, plus a very good breakfast in the morning. But the rooms badly need to be refurbished, my room smelled of mold, and the bed wasn't particularly comfortable. It is situated in a good location in La Pata, walking distance to almost anywhere!

I arrived to the hotel late in the night since my flight had been delayed and the drive from BA to La Plata added about one extra hour. Luckily I was with a friend that was taking me from BA to the hotel.||The garage is small and difficult to get in. It also did not feel safe. The people I saw in the lobby looked shady (like a really older couple from the US for their accent with a very young man, who barely spoke English.. it was weird but a bad weird). The concierge was also weird, like he could not focus on his work. I ignored these signs and went to my room. The elevator was sooo small that my friend and I could not fit in with my luggage. It has two tiny elevators, so my friend got into the other one. ||The room was just awful. Really old and with a severe lack of maintenance. The bathroom was disgusting and seemed dirty. It was also small and looked like an old hospital bathroom. The bed was small (queen in "theory") and there was a small window on a wall. It was very depressing indeed. The AC unit did not have the control in it so if I wanted to temperature to be changed I had to call the freaky concierge, so he could manually change it for me because he had the control!! When I told him that I wanted to be able to control it myself, he said that I was not allowed to do it. He had keys of every room!!!||At that point, my friend said: you cannot stay here! you come with me to my house! So we told the guy that we were leaving because of the AC issue (obviously there was much more), grabbed the form with my info and RUN!

The lodging possibilities in the capital of the Buenos Aires province are surprisingly few and basic. ||||At the San Marco you get what you pay for. The room is ok - beds, chairs, tv etc. Clean. No frills. Not especialy nice, but ok. But freshly squezed pure orange juice en masse came as an unexpected and very nice surprise.||||We met a nice lady who had stayed seven years at this hotel, however this was a bit too long for us we thought and checked out the following morning.

the people very very nice and educated - it would be smart to have in the room a frigobar, a coffe maker, dispensers in the floors, something more "alive".||The hotel hasn't got less than minimum - if you need a bottle of water, walk in the middle of the night, same if you want a te or something, but they can improve!
