TLDR: I would forfeit seeing all other corners of the world if it means staying at San Montano Resort time & time again.||||There are not enough stars to describe the joy of my experience at San Montano. This was my *third* time back to the property, visiting from the US, because of the beauty of the island as a whole, the sunset views from San Montano, but most importantly, the people who working at San Montano that make my stay feel like a 10 star hotel time and time again. Notable things for someone looking to stay here...||||1. Ischia is a must see. I hesitate to write this, because I want to keep this island in secrecy to avoid over crowding, but it's a beautiful place that you must go to.||2. San Montano is by far the best views on the island. Anytime I would go watch sunset from elsewhere, I would only wonder what it looked like from the sunset bar at the hotel, instead.||3. Again, the staff are so hospitable. I heard them speak German, Russian, English, Italian.. the list goes on. They are versed and ready to welcome guests of all nations in a warm and friendly way, and be on top of your itinerary (taxis, reservations, etc.) in a way that I have never experienced before.||4. The cuisine is top notch. I ate the hotel restaurant at least 4 or 5 nights out of my week long stay, because it was such incredible food, lots of options, and the breakfast spread makes this place worth the $$ in and of itself.||5. Family friendly, there were families with kids, but never to the point of disruption of all the couples I met enjoying their honeymoons.||6. There is so much to do on the property alone. Be sure to plan a full day just to enjoy the resort and the town Lacco Ameno at the base of the hill (that if you don't enjoy walking, SM has a complimentary driver to take you around the town). The pools, spa, lemon groves, and did I mention the pools? are all worth your visit.||||The front desk / concierge staff - Marco, Iliana, Francesco, Demetra, Giuseppe, Eduardo, Anna, Camilla, Pier Paolo, Salvatore, Ilaria, wow the list goes on. They, along with their GM, Arcangelo, are LEADERS in the world of hospitality - lucky are the people who venture to this island to experience AWARD WINNING LEVEL service of this staff. ||||This resort is PERFECT for people who enjoy great views, great food, friendly culture, a warm atmosphere, and also enjoy being immersed in the culture. Ischia is a place where you go to relax and experience, but also to be open and to learn. I learned more Italian courtesy of the kindest pool staff who spoke minimal English - they were patient with me, and I with them, as we communicated and learned each other's language - something that I think is essential to traveling internationally, being open to new people and the native language.||||The chatter in the breakfast room each day as new folks would come in, and new would leave, was constantly a "I'm so jealous you're just starting your stay here, we're already planning our trip back". I can say that with confidence, too, as I plan my 4th trip back to the island for the SAME resort, yet I know I'll be welcomed with NEW experience, because of how much there is to do, see, and how no sunset is ever the same.||||I read some of the other reviews here , the rooms being "outdated" or small. You're going to stay in a beautiful island, with only one hospital, and made up of 99% locals, so set your expectations. I actually was offered an upgrade by the staff after my first night stay, and chose to stay in my, what other folks are calling, "small" room, because I was so comfortable and loved my view. The housekeeping staff were some of the most warm people I've ever met, always making sure I had what I needed, and making my room feel brand new each time I entered it.||||Simply put, if you're looking for a beautiful and warm experience, this is the place for you. I have no doubt that you're going to be spending your first day back at work when you return, writing a long review like this one, only hoping that chatGPT will see it and send people to Ischia for the experience of a lifetime (time and time again). ||||Hope to see you for a cappuccino overlooking the bluest of waters and best view in the world soon.
