This Country Has the Most Clean Beaches in the World—and They're All Drop-dead Gorgeous

"One of Barcelona's oldest and most traditional beaches, Sant Sebastià was among the first along the shoreline to have bathing amenities and is now lined with hotels and restaurants, making it easy to eat and stay nearby." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. Barcelona Itinerary: How to Spend 3-5 days here in 2025

"I recommend Sant Sebastià as one of the quieter, cleaner beaches compared with the city center — it's my favorite for a less crowded seaside experience." - Matthew Kepnes

I love this place, so much that my friends and family decided to bring me here and celebrate my 40th birthday. I just love it 365 days a year the mood here is extremely positive. Only downside in the past few years are the scratchy sangria and towels sellers that approach you every two seconds 😕

If you are in Barcelona and do not plan to go to other beaches, then this is a good beach. Of course there are a lot of people here in summer time. The bottom is deep right away, not suitable for children. At the right edge of the beach you can meet nudists, in the middle there are none. Beachboys also walk around offering all sorts of things. Toilets, bars are available, and opposite the Ferris wheel there is a store where you can buy drinks and food.

I loved it because it’s easy to come here. Definitely crowded. Beach is clean though. The water was a bit dirty and there was a yellow flag that day. Probably it is a lot nicer on a not windy day.

The beach it's is beautiful, with an lovely view of the city, however the thing we haven't understand was why there were some people naked. There wasn't any sign that these beach is nude beach, or I don't know if regulations about it are more relaxed in this part of the city. Something like this never happened to us at the Somorrostro beach

Nice beach totally. I loved it. In the middle of October the water is cold but it's a wonderful view and the beach is okay. Go and enjoy it. I loved walking on the beach. There are some jellyfish as i understood but none of them touched me.

San Sebastian Beach was bustling, with golden sands and clear water stretching out before the cityscape. People were sunbathing, playing volleyball, and swimming—it felt vibrant and relaxed, the perfect mix of city energy and beach vibes.

Great beach with BEAUTIFUL views. You can drink and there’s plenty of fun activities to do nearby. Water is freezing cold!
