"At the summer-only St. Sophia Nature Center, you can deep-dive into the backstories of local flora and fauna from the top of Coonskin Ridge. Families flock here to pet animal pelts, identify wildflowers on alpine hikes, and even attend mini-camps on geocaching and gold panning—this is Colorado, after all."

Rode the free town gondola up to watch the sunset. The views were incredible even though there was construction going on. It would be absolutely spectacular without obstructed views.

Ah, San Sophia Overlook, an exquisite jewel perched upon the heights of Mountain Village, Colorado. A destination where Mother Nature dons her finest cloak and invites you to partake in her grand spectacle. Imagine, if you will, standing at this revered vantage point, where the sun kisses the rugged peaks and the valleys below unfurl like a painter's canvas, vibrant with the hues of the changing seasons. As I embraced the view, I was struck by the serene beauty that envelops you—a panorama that calls to the soul like an old friend. The air, crisp and refreshing, fills one with a sense of invigoration, while your senses are treated to the soft rustle of the aspen leaves dancing in harmony with the breeze. The experience is further enhanced by the gentle hum of the world below, a reminder that life continues its ripple amidst the tranquil sanctuary of nature. It’s a five-star escapade for the senses, a testament to the allure of the great outdoors. To stand here is to witness the exquisite interplay of light and landscape, a vivid reminder that sometimes, the most extraordinary experiences come from simply pausing to take it all in. So, my dear wanderers, don’t delay; allow San Sophia Overlook to cast its spell upon you. It’s a moment in time you shall not soon forget, a slice of heaven wrapped in the embrace of Colorado's majestic mountains.

Absolutely breathtaking backdrop for a wedding. You'll have a few hikers and bikers stroll past, but they don't interfere with the wedding at all.

San Sophia overlook is a must see in the Telluride area! It’s easy to access, beautiful at any time of the year, and a stunning location for a mountain wedding, engagement session, or proposal. I photographed here for a proposal at the end of winter and it was super easy to get to and the ski patrol folks were incredibly helpful in providing a great location for my client’s proposal. I cannot wait to visit again this summer!

All the gondola rides are free. Telluride is awesome. We stayed at mountain village and taking the gondola was right out of our hotels door.
