I drive 40 minutes every time just to enjoy the pupusas here and it’s absolutely worth it. The food is consistently excellent, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. The service is one of the best: welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. This is one of my favorite spots, no question. Worth every mile of the drive. I highly recommend it.

Couldn’t understand about all this bad reviews till today. I was one of the most loyal customers to this place because the pupusas are good. But today i decided to order ahead to dine in since i was getting off from work and I was starving. I called, and was barely placing my order and she told me that I couldn’t no dine in if I was just going to eat 2 pupusas mind you i was bringing my kids and she didn’t even gave me the chance to complete my order before she was threatening me about that. 1st why am i not able to consume whatever i want? Doesn’t matter if it’s a piece of lemon or a grain of salt IM PAYING FOR IT, IM PAYING FOR A SERVICE. WHO does she think she is? The owner of a restaurant that accidentally became popular but could also disappear after all this bad reviews and awful service? 2nd why would she even questioned about if I was bringing kids??? SO RUDE & Disrespectful. I’m absolutely taking this issue serious and I will be filling a complaint with the California Department of Consumer.

My Mexican 🇲🇽wife and me🇸🇻 (salvadorean) were there, and my wife asked the lady if they made a good Mexican food, and the lady replied (if you don't like it, can take it home 😒) her attitude was dumb 😠 then my wife ordered camarones al mojo de ajo and y ordered sopa de patas, pero la carne de la pansita estaba picada como para tacos 🙄 y nunca encontré la yuca, corn, plátano, basically it was "menudo with carrots 🥕 and Cole " and there ain't camarones al mojo de ajo believe.!! Really bad service 😒. I'll never go there again 🤨 that's why I love to go "LA BAHÍA DE JIQUILISCO" IIN RICHMOND.. they got real salvadoreño 🇸🇻 food, and the sopa de patas is 🤤🤌💯

I have been here plenty of times since I live a few blocks away..The customer service has always been the best. I get greeted as soon as I walk in. Never had an issue. Also, the waitin time on the pupusas of course its gone take sum time..THEYRE HAND MADE!! theyre made right at the spot for you..you dont want no preheated Pupusas. I can eat their pupusas all day!!

The food its ok, i manly visit for the pupusas wich are good. Other than that costumer service from the lady im guessing she's the owner, its really bad she has a big mouth talking to costumers and always gets orders wrong and instead of admiting her mistake she always blames the costumer so you pretty mich either pay for whatever she wrote on your order or re do your order and wait another whole hour for them to cook it. Wait time its also very long. Literally if you order 4 pupusas it for sure is gona be 1 hour never less. I give it 2 stars because the pupusas are good enough.

The pupusas were delicious here. I ordered chicken and chorizo pupusas, they were 🔥...Not sure why people hate so much in the reviews.

Pretty decent pupusas, best ones are the rice pupusas. It’s hard to find good pupusas but here they are pretty good compared to other places.

I absolutely love this place. Their pupusas reminded me when I was in El Salvador, the owner is so nice. If you haven't tried their tamales do it, you won't be sorry the are delicious.

Worst customer service! The ladies that take orders were rude an answering questions about what payments they take there was no need for their nasty attitude first time customer and last time we will ever go there and the food wasn't even all that

Bad customer service, the owner was very rude, I ordered a drink and ask for the restroom, she asked me if I was going to order a meal and I said yes but for now I'll start with a drink so she asked me to pay for the drink and the food in advance if I wanted to use the restroom with a very bad attitude, I paid the drink that I ordered and told her that I won't be eating there anymore because I didn't like the way she treated me and she said she didn't care, this people is in the wrong industry, they have no idea what hospitality means.

After my last review, I'm not sure why I still bother here.. I guess because the food is good as I mentioned BUT that's no longer the case .. Came in today and ordered 2 pupusas over the phone I was told it would be $7 even, upon arriving I was asked if I wanted to add anything in which I added a CAN sprite and asked for my total, the new waitress looked over at the owner (seemed like she was making sure she wasn't paying attention) and told me $12. At that point I asked how much a can soda is as that was an additional $5 just for a soda to be added on, the waitress was stuck and didn't know how to respond she said the owner would ring me up in a minute when available. She rung me up @ $10.19, sooooo where was she pulling this $12 total from? She didn't even have a register on front of her she was standing by the dine in tables giving me this ridiculous total. So we're just charging whatever we want now ?? Or was that your way of securing a tip? (Which I was going to leave until that experience.) Disgusted and appalled. Will not be returning, food has gone down hill as well. My pupusas barely had filling, pure masa. I DO NOT RECOMMEND

I love this place! Even though they might be rude, that's the way you can tell it's a fire authentic spot. If you're soft please don't come and bash them about their food when it's really one of the best pupusa spots! The interior feels like you're at someones salvis aunties spot! The server is a little slow and you got to repeat yourself but she's so kind! Just have patience.

My God, I don't even know how this business is still open :( Had such a horrible experience with the old woman behind the register. Very rude response to a simple yes or no question. The food was also not that great . People , if you want to save yourself a heart attack from not telling this woman off take your hard earned money elsewhere. If I can rate this place a ZERO I would.

This place is terrible. The people taking orders have bad attitudes and treat you like garbage if you don't speak to them in Spanish. The quesadilla I ordered was supposed to come with guacamole, sour cream and salsa, it only had chicken and cheese inside. They piled it on top of each in this gross, soggy, uneatable mess with an oversized dollop of sour cream and a tiny wedge of avocado on the side. The way they treat paying customers is disrespectful and their food was disgusting.

$17.00 for a chicken burrito and coke wow the burrito was small with little chicken the waitress asked what kind of hot sauce I wanted in the burrito I said hot and then there turned out to be none in the burrito and they don't give you any napkins or chips and salsa like just about every other restaurant does so burrito and can of soda for $17.00. I won't be going back. It's sad so many restaurants have raised prices while at the same time lowering quality and material

Really upset with their quesadillas with chicken, very minimal effort seemed to have been put to anything other than their pupusas. If you're going here stick to ordering what their business is known for, THE PUPUSAS otherwise you'll starve wishing you'd done so.

Their pupusas were really good but their service is atrocious. We wanted some water and they told us they didn't give free water. That we could buy some for $1.25. Then we told them, no thanks. She proceeded to be like, "it's so cheap. You don't want it?" Like seriously? This is the first ever restaurant where I've been charged for water. I wouldn't go here if one would help it.

BEST PUPUSAS EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRR So, I would recommend the beans and cheese ones, the design of the tables are pretty cool and the service is really good.

The food was good but this establishment is racist . As I was finishing my food the owner started to argue with a man who was going to use the restroom first then order his food . Once they were done arguing and he left the lady said "that's how all morenos are " which she is referring to him being black . I was sick to my stomach when I heard that. We got up and left . She had no right to judge him to use the restroom just because of his skin color . It was my first time eating there and now my last .

Food: solid 7/10 Racism: I am so disappointed about what occured today around 11 am, Sept. 4, they refused service to an African American man for using the bathroom before putting in his food order ?? He seemed to have been at the Metro PCS next door, came in to use the bathroom, and was going to order some burritos after the fact. No puedo creer que racista es la dueña de este lugar, y tambien los cocineros/ayudantes porque todos andaban en friega tratando de sacar a este muchacho porque no via ordenado todavia. Ah, and at some point the owner showed him the sign that says "can refuse service to any one" when there was no valid reason AT ALL. Once the man walked out, the owner said "asi son todos los morenos" meaning "thats how all black people are" SMH. I have never made a yelp review, I have never experienced racism this close IN MY FACE, but this situation had to be talked about and put on their yelp page. Never recommending this spot to my homies again, and never coming back.

First of all. Called this place on the phone since it's close to where I live. First time ordering here. My bf called and placed the order over the phone. The lady who answered was super rude. My bf asked her to review the order to verify the order was correct and she had the order all wrong ended up saying that we were confusing her and to be more clear. My bf asked for extra crispy and before he finished his sentence the lady said the total she said she wanted cash and immediately said BYE. Didn't even let him finish his sentence. When he got home and ate the food we noticed we didn't even get the right order. All seem to be cheese or with very little chicharrón. The pupusas are super bland and thin. They don't have chicharrón at all. This place has the worst customer service plus the food is awful. I don't ever give bad reviews but this place earned it. They need to treat their customers a little better. Don't waste your money here!!!

It's a hidden place don't really see it but Omg let me tell you ! Best pupusas I had around the San Leandro area , the ladies are really welcoming and the environment/ energy is chill they are nice and the pupusas are really good I recommend this place ! The rice and beans the rice flour are my favorites ! Totally been one of the places to go to love them.

I went there two times and my experience was bad the young lady was very rude the food I order wasn't made right and didn't taste good, I gave it a second chance and still bad service and again the food was really bad plus the chicharrón con curtido was overly priced there were only 3 burnt chicharrones and the curtido was old very soft and brown I highly don't recommend this place, my boyfriend lives close by and he's gone there plenty of times to really say the same as me, if they could only change their attitude and be friendly and change the chef or send them to learn how to cook Salvadorian food then I think it would be a success mean while they suck

I had no idea this El Salvadorian restaurant existed until a friend bought me pupusas for lunch one day. I had one that was all cheese and 2 with cheese and loroco. They were so, so good! They came with hot sauce and slaw and literally MELTED in my mouth. Each pupusa was large, I couldn't believe they were only $3.00 each! I can't wait to try all the other flavors I ordered take-out from them today. They quoted me 20 minutes and the papusas were hot and ready when I showed up. Everyone was wearing a mask, were polite and efficient. I'm looking forward to going back and trying something else on the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant

This place is the worst. The owners are rude and extremely disrespectful. I asked for a Chicken soup and it legit was just the soup. When I asked for the vegetables that are suppose to be in there she said I had to pay extra!!!! Smh, do not waste your time coming here! You will be disappointed!

Some of the best pupusas in the Bay!! And I don't know what all the complaints are about the owner. She is always courteous but direct when I come in. Just feed me, and I'm good.

I am done with this place although their pupusas are good they're not THAT GOOD to be dealing with such a nasty and ignorant attitude of their service. Multiple times they've given me and my family an attitude for using a credit card to avoid THEIR fee as a business which I find that ridiculous! Which in one occasion the owner itself was being rude to my cousin saying "Next time use the atm from the liquor store to pay with cash" ! Umm No. Also, they have insulted us when we returned a dish that tasted horrible and stated that my cousin "didn't have good taste" when in fact her soup was extremely salty and unflavored. We are always really nice and understandable if maybe one or two times but this is every single time so this was the last straw this place is definitely a big NO theyre rude as heck, annnnd they expect for US the customer to accept their ugly customer service. Do not come here, best Pupusas and beautiful service LAS CABAÑAS PUPUSAS IN HAYWARD! Worth the drive and my new favorite Salvadorian spot to go to!

Honestly this location has the worst customer service. If I could rate this location negative stars I definitely would. I called in to place a Phone order early on a Monday afternoon I was told on the phone the wait would be 15 minutes upon arriving to the restaurant I waited in total 35 minutes all for the order to be wrong! I was already upset at the lack of communication or apologies due to the long way as I was picking up food on my lunch break her to walking out I checked the order and I specifically asked for two pupusa combo plate meals on the phone however somehow they interpreted that as one combo meal with two Pupusas upon acknowledging the situation the main woman who answers the phone and translates in English was extremely!! No consideration no apologies no ownership for the mistake on their end.

Great papusas but the service was terrible! I personally like the plain queso most, sometimes less is more.

The best pupusas I've had! Generous with the filling inside, and delicious repollo. And they have tamale with the banana leaf, including a sweet tamale with plantain.

So we made an order for about 28 Papusas to go and we asked for plates. The cashier said that we needed to leave a $5 tip for the plates... The first time that's ever happen. we order from many other places with big orders every saturday for our office lunch but all the other places give us plates and utensils with out us asking. Anyways let's get into the food. The papusas are fairly good and theres nothing very special about it but good. The hot salsa wasnt spicy like at all. With 28 papusas we got like two small bags of tortilla chips. The salad for the papusas was pretty good. Overall food good and customer service is blah.

San Vicente is my go to place it's near my home and the food is always fresh and Delicious Pupusas are big and never dry the Sopes another one of my faves are to die for her beans I could definitely eat everyday and don't let me forget the chicken soup

This place has TERRIBLE customer service .. they mistreated my husband because he asked for a receipt ... seriously just for asking the breakdown of the food, since 2 different employees told him different totals... if you want BAD customer service and treated like your nobody come eat here... the food does not do justice also you get charged $3 if you use your debit card which I think is not fair since nowadays everywhere they accept credit cards. any who if you want great pupusas and excellent customer service go to SF

Always drive by here when we go to the dental office. One day we decided to drop by and order some pupusas to go for the family. We were greeted by some friendly folks who chatted with us while we waited for our takeout order. The restaurant is a bit small, but the place was clean. All the different pupusas we ordered were quite good. Portion size was just right. Worth checking out, if you are craving some tasty Salvadorean pupusas!

The best pupusa spot is San Leandro CA, Fr Fr, the rice and beans on hit too.. don't sleep on this one.. if you like El Salvadoran food you have to at least try it once, also the Mexican food is decent.

I went to the store to buy a burrito and use the rest room . Store owner a heavy set lady was extra rude almost raciest like . Talked to me like I was poor or homeless even wanted to kick me outta her store when I went to use the rest room . She even told me it was out of order when I saw someone go in and outta the rest room . I'm a professional Afto American electronic engineer and I live in the neighborhood please do not patronize this business !

We have been fans of this restaurant for over 10 years. Absolutely the best pupusas we've had anywhere, hands down. Everything is always fresh, made to order and so tasty! The woman owner is welcoming, friendly and recognizes her frequent customers with appreciation.

I've only done take out but the food has been great so far. Pupusas are not super greasy and the potions of curtido y salsa de tomate are great. We've also had the plátanos fritos with frijoles y crema and it's also been great. Solid food and solid service.

Beyond am amazing! The tacos here aren't that cheap, but mannn! The Asada (steak) are to die for. I completely recommend these guys if you're in town. Get the cheese or beans pupusas it is so so GOOD!!

Had not had the pupusas from here in years. Made it to San Leandro for a visit and decided to give it a try. The food has not changed. Still authentic and delicious. A must have when you go to San Leandro. Yum! Yum!! Yum!!!

I have been coming to San Vicente for years. Patricia is always pleasant and ready to joke around with me the minute I walk in the door. Service is fast and friendly and the pupusas are delicious. I've had many pupusas from different restaurants and I find them to be tough, dry or extra greasy. San Vicente's pupusas are always the perfect size, juicy and not greasy at all. The curtido always taste fresh and is exactly how I like it. If you are in town and looking for good pupusas I would encourage you to stop by and try them out.

I went inside as a first timer ready to try their pupusas and at first it was a lady that took our drinks, another bigger lady came to take down our food order(it was four of us), and we didn't even finish ordering due to her rudeness. We walked straight out!!! This restaurant is a live Kitchen Nightmares episode, would not recommend zero out of five stars!

Customer service is horrible I loved the food but the owner is rude as hell needs more customer service experience she was cussing because she having customers in and out of her restaurant!

San Vicente is a salvadorean eatery so it makes sense to order pupusas and tamales (3.5) here instead of tacos. (learned the hard way) eats:pupusa(2.5) -zuchinni & cheese didn't taste the zuchinni, just the cheese. -pork & cheese wonder where the three little pigs were? take outs: -pupusas were huge, fist size, lots of dough, little filling? -curtido (cabbege) fresh -choice of spicy or hot "salsa" -made to order -filling may be small, nevertheless it was all fresh 3.5 stars.

Location/Parking - Good Decor/Ambiance - Good Service - Good Food - Fabulous! My dining bud from work and I are always trying to figure out where to have "side lunch" (because we should be eating "main lunch" that we bring from home), and this was on our list last week. We shared two combos - pupusa and carne asada. Vampire Weekend's "Horchata" was in my head, so I had to get a glass of it. And my bud got some orange Jarritos. Let me just say that we had the equivalent of two main lunches because the portions were insanely huge. You definitely get what you pay for, and it was well worth every penny. I might just become a regular.

The pupusas are to die for but the lady that owns the business is a total jerk and that's the only reason I will not go back there. Keep in mind I've been there couple of times and it's the same treatment.

If I could be able to give 0 stars I would!!! Have ordered with door dash (along with pick up) and everytime it's an issue! Why put your business on door dash if you can't deliever?! They're rude over the phone! And "expect" a tip in person! Ni que fueran las últimas pupusas del mundo! Las Cabañas in Hayward is so much better! Dont waste your money here! No gasten su dinero comiendo aquí, no valen la pena!

Oh glorious yelp. How this place gets 4 stars is beyond me. I came with several coworkers and most, if not ALL of us were disappointed. I ordered the Super Burrito 'with everything on it' but that just means sour cream and guac to the already necessary carne asada and beans. Food quality was subpar: the tortilla and rice was overcooked and hard, the meat tasted a bit rubbery in texture, and the salad only had three options of dressing available. I've had better. Their quantity is huge though, and you get more than you bargained for here, but it's hard to eat so much when the food isn't so great to begin with. I do gotta say that I didn't try their raved pupusa, but my coworker said it was okay, but he had better...unfortunately this is my review and not his. =P Choice is up to you, but we're not coming back here.

3.5-4 stars for the food, being docked to 3 though because of the service... we were seated on a Saturday afternoon, orders taken, food brought, then promptly forgot about for the rest of our visit. No check in, no water refill, had to flag them down for the bill. Also, negative points for one of the waitstaff putting down another staff member in front of us while she took our order. Unprofessional... Now for the (mostly) positive- the food. Love the pupusas! I prefer the one with meat, beans, and cheese because you get different flavors and textures. And the coleslaw type salad you get with it tastes great with the pupusas, which are like a quesadilla with a thicker tortilla. We also got a pork taco (which was loaded with meat) and a pork tamale, which was also huge. The tamale was a little soggier than the ones I've had before, so I wasn't super excited about it, but it wasn't that bad either. The horchata was different for us as well, as our server told us the El Salvadorean style is different from the Mexican. To me, there was more of a peanut taste as opposed to the cinnamon of the Mexican horchata I'm used to. Not bad though. All in all, good food, you'll definitely leave full without a huge dent in your wallet.

Okay so the Pupusas are very good here that's why I'll give it two stars , but the customer service though .... Yikes . I go get brunch with my sister mom and I , when we come in we are asked by the lady if it for here or to go , we said here and she tells us to take a seat wherever , there is only one other lady eating , and we sit down , minutes later she asks if we need s menu and we said yes . We are given the menu and once we ordered she asked us what would we like to drink , I ask for water she asked if I want a cup or bottle , my mom says I want a glass of water and so does she , lady is like oh you said that quick I was just asking bc we make our profits from drinks, mom said she understands that but she has a bottle of water in her bag if that were the case. Anyways... when placing the food I guess we ordered too little and she asked again if it was for here or to go when we said here again she made a face . After we are brought the food by this short youngish girl , when my sister asks for more salsa and lemon I could see she too made a face . Afterwards .. We finish our meal and I work in a restaurant I like leaving my plates stacked and table clean , we go and ask for a box and the bill . Once we are given both mom goes and pays with her card ,as I went back to the car , and she says that the short girl with a bad attitude told her that the older lady will be with her in a second . The older lady comes and mom gives her the card , after the lady swipes she throws the card to my mom when my mom gave it to her hand . we left her 4$ tip cash on the table , our bill was $20ish . But Tbh they didn't deserve a tip .and Thats coming from someone who personally lives off her tips .

Woo hoo !!! Pupasa ($2.25) my first and it was A-ok. Pupasa? El Salvadorian home made flour tortilla stuffed with pork, beans and cheese. Not bad at all. Love the complimentary pickled cabbage. Real family owned business. Grandma was sitting at the counter watching tv. Love it. Why did I never hear about this place? I've lived in the area for over three years and have always drove by. No worries I know where to go now for a burrito that's only ten minutes away. They have a lot of combo plates as well and the whole fried fish. Can't wait to come back.

Yes, I AM a fan of their pupusas! At a little over $2 a piece, I enjoyed every bite. It reminded me of eating a quesadilla. Pupusas are pockets of cheesy goodness, beans and pork. It's served with a little coleslaw type salad and salsa. Don't know how the lady knew I can only eat Mild salsa. =) Service was great. The lady who took my order was very polite and nice. It's a little hidden away but you can find it in a little strip like mall on Davis street near the Korean BBQ, little Ceasars and Kung Fu. Oh, I also tried the Salvadorian chicken tamales ($3) but wasn't a fan. It seems like instead of using maze, they use some kind of flour base because it was a little mushier in texture. Next time, I'll skip the tamales and get 3 orders of pupusas.

You can find better papusas else where. The beans where not that great. The horchata was probably the best i ever had. But the customer service is ridiculous. So ridiculous i would never come back.

I've been coming here for two years now and this is my first review. I come here for the vibes but I stay for the papusas! This place is all about papusas and plantanos. (Plantains fried with beans and cream)
