We came to The Sandbar in Cape Cod excited to relax and enjoy some drinks, but unfortunately, the experience fell flat. We ordered Painkillers—classic tropical cocktails that are supposed to have a noticeable rum presence. What we received were overly creamy, bland drinks that clearly had no trace of alcohol.
We went back to the bar and politely let them know the drinks didn’t taste right and asked if they could be remade or fixed. Instead of remaking them, they handed us each a rum floater to pour in ourselves. Not ideal, but we appreciated the attempt to make it right—until the check came and we saw they charged us $2 extra per drink for the floaters they gave us to correct their mistake.
To make matters worse, the entire staff seemed to be high school or college-aged—which is totally fine—but they were clearly not trained on how to behave professionally in a family-friendly setting. While we were sitting nearby, we overheard them loudly chatting about their wild weekend hookups and other personal stories that were definitely not appropriate for a public workspace, especially with kids and families around.
Overall, between the poorly made drinks, being charged to fix a mistake, and the unprofessional atmosphere, we left disappointed. Definitely won’t be returning.
