Sand Dollar Beach Bed and Breakfast

My wife and I spent 3 nights here while traveling through Costa Rica and Panama for a few weeks earlier this year and found Sound Dollar to be exceptional in every way. Booking, communication, location, accommodations....everything was perfect. Right from the quick reply I received to my initial email with some random questions I immediately knew Sand Dollar was going to be the perfect choice. Mark and Sharon are amazing hosts with a vast amount of knowledge and recommendations in the area and truly make the local experience easy and exciting. They are perfectly located right outside of the busy part of town and only a 10 minute cab to shopping and restaurants and a 15/20 minute bus ride to starfish beach which was awesome. The property is beautiful, the rooms are clean, spacious and air conditioned. Every day starts with an amazing breakfast and ends with a cool and refreshing swim in a beautiful pool. If you like to read there's a great library onsite and all of the rooms have a covered porch with tables, chairs and a great view of the sea and pool. Every day there were monkeys in the trees behind our room and beautiful hummingbirds in the flowers on the porch. Do not hesitate to stay here, you will not e disappointed!

We had an amazing time at Sand Dollar Beach! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The pool is amazing, as is the beautiful, tropical garden and the view. Karen and Steven were great helpfull hosts, they made us feel so welcome. Also Dama is such a nice person and makes great breakfast!||Being just outside of town was really nice. Just more quiet and beautiful. The only thing that would be nice to have are some (e-)bikes to get into town at night for dinner. Sometimes it was hard to find a taxi back to the B&B.

Sharon and Mark were exceptional hosts for our vacation at Sand Dollar Beach Bed & Breakfast!!!! They communicated with us, before we arrived, answered all of our questions, offered us referrals for highly recommended professionals to meet us at the Panama Airport, as well as provided us a highly recommended professional tour guide in Panama City. The Sand Dollar is a gorgeous resort with a beautiful on-grounds swimming pool, right across from the ocean! We could hear the far-away sound of the monkeys and the beautiful sound of the waves from the ocean, from our lovely 2nd floor spacious room with an extremely comfortable bed. Dama, the wonderful housekeeper, cook and charming personality greeted us each morning (as did Sharon & Mark) with Dama's famous & delicious breakfasts. Dama is just delightful!!!! Sharon & Mark are wonderful tour guides, and they offered us many ideas & recommendations for fun ocean activities, sites to see & experiences, as well as wonderful restaurant suggestions. I would highly recommend the Sand Dollar to anyone wanting a beach & special paradise vacation!!!

Loved our stay at Sand Dollar B&B. Beautiful grounds, incredible views (from every room!) and our hosts Mark, Sharon, along with Dama, were helpful and entertaining. The rooms are lovely and are situated in a way that allow you to enjoy other guests ( which we did!) or have as much space to yourself as you may need. I so enjoyed the gardens, pool, monkeys, and other wildlife so much that I was at risk of never leaving the property to explore! Glad I did, because there are so many other things to do and see in the area; a newly completed bike path running along the ocean made it an easy walk/ride to town and a fun bike ride to other beaches in the area. And note, water is treated (charcoal filter / UV light) so there is unlimited fresh water… fresh coconut water from the garden too! We enjoyed some great restaurants nearby which serve a variety of cuisines so don’t miss the fresh seafood while you’re there. Yay! We will definitely be returning to Sand Dollar Beach bed-and-breakfast!

This place is a charming and relaxing oasis just outside a very busy town. (It's a few kilometers away from the town center, which is an enjoyable walk along an ocean path, especially in the morning or evening when cooler.) The rooms were very clean and comfortable with a beautiful view from the spacious veranda. Breakfast was delicious each day. The grounds were gorgeous. The pool was delightful with great landscaping and numerous seating options, such as hanging chairs, wicker furniture, and lounge chairs. There's also a beach right out front just across the road. (Note: Don't expect Venice Beach; this was a narrow strip of sand when we were there but all the more pleasant as there was no one else on it.) Sharon and Mark were welcoming and helpful hosts, recommending bars, restaurants, and beaches - which all turned out to be worthy of their mention. Will definitely stay again.

Where to begin.... Sand Dollar B&B is a charming place to step away from the busyness of life to enjoy the sights and sounds of playful monkeys in the backyard jungle and birds that visit adorable feeders and flowers on the veranda overlooking the ocean. Dama's breakfasts served on the veranda were as beautifully presented as they were tasty.|Sharon and Mark created a lovely mosaic pathway to the refreshing pool area, which includes a welcoming shaded seating area.|Mark and Sharon were incredible hosts, treating us like family. They were knowledgeable about all activities, excursions, and restaurants on the island.|They have created an amazing oasis.... and we plan on returning!||Kris L

Very nice accomodation 1-2 km outside of Bocas Town with very friendly English speaking hosts. Gave me a very warm welcome and Sharon, one of the hosts, was talking with me about different topics as if I was invited for coffee to her house. Wonderful and well maintained garden including a pool, several hammocks to relax. They also provide a lot of books or different kinds of games (cards...) to spend your time.|Mark and Sharon even let you participate in their dinner if you are just there at the accomodation and sit next to them at the table. They have a good network and can arrange nice tours with good people.|Beds are comfortable and big, they have a bird feeder which attracts a lot of birds, especially hummingbirds. Breakfast is excellent, made by themselves (including a nice lady who is working for them) with among others fruits from their own garden.|Definitely not for budget travellers, but worth the money.|The only negative thing is the traffic (as on the main road outside Bocas) which can be partially loud there but decreases in the evening.

I am not sure there are enough positive adjectives to describe our stay at Sand Dollar. We arrived a bit early for check in and were greeted by Dama who offered us cold water and a comfortable place to wait for her to finish up our room. The whole property is beautiful, the gardens are well maintained, the pool is lovely, and our room was perfect, very clean, and had everything we could ask for. The view from our deck was also beautiful, overlooking the gardens and the beach across the street. Sharon and Mark are wonderful hosts, and helped us plan day trips, gave us tips for places to eat, and tips on using cabs and buses to get around. The location is perfect, about a thirty minute walk to town, or a $2 cab ride. Dama, is a gem, and always made sure coffee was ready for us early birds, and her breakfasts were delicious! I would highly recommend a stay here, and we would definitely stay here again.
