A truly great experience. We arrived from another Elewana camp, Tortilis Camp and they could not be more different but in a good way. Sand River really feels like a “Safari” camp, every room is tented and it feels like a classic safari experience. The rooms are spectacular, huge, luxurious with beautiful furnishings and a really comfortable bed.||Nicolene was efficient, friendly and kind. Patrick our waiter was brilliant. Huge thank you to Jeremiah, yhe best bar tender I have ever met, always greeted us with huge smile and a fresh drink! Every meal was prepared perfectly. Best food we have had in Kenya.||This really is a beautiful camp. Thank you!

Nicolene and her team gave us 5* experience in the most stunning setting. We took the all inclusive game and meal package which meant we were catered for on an extremely high level in camp and on game drives. |Within camp we were treated to several appearances from large groups of elephants, entertained by a large troop of baboons and were very close to the local lions. Thankfully the ascaris kept us all very safe between dusk and dawn. |Our expert driver had over 20 years experience of guiding and intimate knowledge of the Masai Mara. He took us to places that were not well known and consequently we saw extremely rare sights: the first wilderbeast crossing from the Serengeti for example. The safari vehicles are purpose built Toyota Landcruisers which gave the ultimate comfort and viewing. They were equipped with a fully stocked fridge for us to enjoy throughout the day. They also enabled the driver to cross rivers and the most challenging terrain safely. We even towed out another vehicle which didn’t have the same capability as ours. ||The food was divine throughout and the chefs accommodated 1 vegetarian and 1 gluten & dairy free with equally exceptional quality dishes. Our waiter was always very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. And the safari breakfast was beautifully done and an experience we will always cherish not least because we were serenaded by 30 hippos! ||We were lucky enough to stay in tent 1 which was stunning to stay in. Our roll top, outdoor shower and four poster beds were all much appreciated. |We were so close to the wildlife that one night we could hear elephants eating and breathing just beyond our tent!! . ||We can’t recommend Sand River highly enough. As our first experience, I feel we have been truly spoilt. Thank you Nicolene and the team for such a fabulous stay.

We went for our honeymoon and everything was simply superb. Our guide Charles was fantastic both as a person to chat and laugh with and as a guide allowing us to see so many wonderful animals, he was knew the best place to be and the best way to get there. Nicolene and her team were brilliant, always checking in and so attentive. Our main waiter Zia was also great as were all the other members of staff from housekeeping to the bar staff to security dotted around ferrying us to and from our rooms when required at night. Elewana Sand River will always have a special place in our hearts. Asante sana to all!

Elewana and staff went over and beyond to make our stay here spectacular! Our driver Charles was very knowledgeable about the area and animals, making our game drivers great! We were on a family vacation and everyone on the property was so kind to the kids and made them feel at home. The service at elewana and the attention to detail was incredible.

A totally fabulous experience. We stayed in Little Sand River, and it feels very exclusive. The pool may be a stride away, but the evening catch up around the fire pit whilst waiting for the delicious food was a special time. We were pampered by the staff, who really looked after us, and nothing was too much trouble. The guide we had was amazing, fantastic knowledge, and ensured we had great views of game. The Mara area is huge, and March is much quieter than later in the year when the migration has taken place, but we were able to track down everything we wanted to see.

10/10 experience! On our trip we stayed at 3 different Elewana camps and each one was consistent with their service, helpfulness, and knowledge around the environment. Our guide, Alex, was the best & made sure we saw everything we wanted to see. The road to the camp is slightly bumpy so if you are sensitive to that then just be prepared. I was worried about it being an open camp but when I got there I saw there was no reason to worry. Saw cheetahs, lions, lioness, & even some baby cubs. Overall highly recommend staying here!

Our group spent 2 nights at the sand river camp! Everything was absolutely amazing! The staff were so kind and friendly and checked on us frequently, the services were lovely like the sundowners and the bush breakfast! The tents were great, the views are gorgeous especially with a full river! The only challenge was we had so much rain when we were there and the road that leads to the camp was very bumpy and broken from the rain!

This was a truly great experience! I’d been promising myself a safari for years and finally got round to it - why did I wait?! Don’t expect tv’s, fridges and all mod cons - do expect to be woken by an elephant walking past your tent! The tents are “old fashioned” but great - the outdoor shower is a treat. Mine was a good walk away from the main camp and you need a guide at night to walk you down. Buffalo the issue - they and hippos the only ones that should concern you evidently (unless you do something stupid!) Staff are extremely welcoming and they deliver a great attentive service but the game viewing is extraordinary! One of only two camps within the park the safari was made complete by Antony, our driver and guide. Extremely knowledgeable, passionate and great company he managed to deliver a truly marvellous experience. Even driving and enjoying a “safari massage” on the bumpy roads you’re struck by the majesty of the environment. Memories that will stay with me forever and I’m already planning the next trip!
