Sand River Masai Mara by Elewana

All the staff were friendly, very accommodating and always willing to help. We were greeted with joyful faces after every game drive, which was a wonderful feeling.||The rooms are luxurious with peaceful views of the sand river and beyond. To top it off, the outdoor shower is amazing. The amenities are useful, with mosquito repellent and insect repellent provided. They also had reusable named water bottles for us. ||A lot of effort and thought went into preparing and presenting all meals as well as snacks. ||The location of the camp is at the boarded with Tanzania. The area close to the camp has a lot of shrubs. The wildlife seen near to the camp is therefore of a different nature to the standard savannah. The guide was knowledgeable and shared facts with us when required. We were not lucky to see the migration, however, if it had been the right time, it would have been a very idyllic location. We still managed to catch the Big 5.

It is sometimes difficult to know exactly what to expect when visiting a place for the first time. The experience at Sand River was nothing less than exceptional. From the minute we were picked up to the time we spent at the lodge and on game drives, the whole team ensured every minute was memorable. For anyone reading this review, all I can say, this place is a definite must see.

Elewana Sand River, never have I been more sad to leave anywhere in my life. The moment you enter the camp, you realise you are somewhere special. Each room looks over the Sand River so you can spend time watching the resident baboon troop or animals coming for a drink, from the comfort of your four poster bed or even outdoor shower!||Then there is the service and food. Flawless. Every member of staff was exceptional, attentive and friendly. In particular we would like to mention Joseph, who was there from the moment you woke up to when you went back to your room. He taught us so much Swahili during our stay and it was a privilege to get to know him. ||The food was amazing, we have honestly had worst meals in Michelin star restaurants in London!||Finally, and most importantly, were the game drives. Sand River is in a completely secluded location, meaning we had encounters with a leopard and two sets of lion cubs without a single other game vehicle nearby! If you go to the camps more central in the park, every time you see a cat it will be surrounded by 10+ vehicles, not in Sand River.||Special mention again to our incredible guide, Antony! His knowledge and respect of the national park was second to none! I do not believe we could have had a better guide, who is also an award winning photographer so helps with all the best angles! ||Overall, I honestly feel as if we chose the best camp to stay in the Masai Mara!

Sand River Masai Mara was simply amazing. The service was incredible. The location was perfect. We were very sad to leave. Everyone was incredibly kind, happy and helpful. Alex S, our guide, was the best! We learned so much about the Masai Mara and animals. I asked sooooo many questions and he answered them all! It was a bucket list trip for us and I HIGHLY recommend Sand River. We couldn’t fault anything, best trip ever!

Everything about our stay was flawless; the food, the property, the location, and most importantly the service. Every single member of the team was friendly and incredibly helpful. Joseph served us during our trip and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We feel so lucky to have had Anthony as our guide. His knowledge is exceptional and the passion he has for his work is inspirational. The location is secluded and we experienced so many incredible moments with not a single other person around. This truly has been the trip of a lifetime and we are so grateful we chose Elewana Sand River for our honeymoon. Thank you so much to all of the team.

The biggest compliment we can give is that there would be absolutely nothing we would change about our whole experience. ||From the moment we arrived, the staff all made us feel so welcome and everyone that we came across seemed genuinely friendly and pleasant.||A special mention to some of the staff at the camp, John, Allan, Jeremiah (makes an excellent margarita), Michael, Zia, Timothy and Bob. Everyone looked after us extremely well. Bob made sure the room was immaculate which was so nice to come back to after the game drives. Zia who looked after us with wake up calls and meals was also ever present for anything that was required. As mentioned, there are many names who we didn't catch but they were equally as attentive and friendly.||Also, a big mention to our guide Enock. His knowledge and willingness to answer all of our questions was amazing. He ensured the vehicle always had the essentials packed for our game drives and was not hesitant when we asked to stop for photo opportunities. Apart from seeing the Big 5, a memorable moment would be our last night where we parked up at the side of a river bank to watch a lioness and her 3 cubs playing whilst Enock made us a G&T with the sun going down. This is an afternoon we will never forget. ||We booked this trip as a honeymoon and the staff were all very quick to congratulate us and make sure our whole experience was special. We genuinely cannot compliment everyone enough on the amazing service that is provided throughout.|Asante sana - until next time!!

Our group of eight women stayed at Little Sand Resort and had the place to ourselves. It was an incredible experience. Benjamin and Jackson were our game drivers and did a wonderful job. From John and Nicolene’s welcome, Daniel’s escort to our room, Evan’s bar service, Juma and Boniface’s table service, George’s food preparation, our security walks to our rooms - everything was perfect!

This was what I envisioned the perfect safari accommodations to be like. Beautiful facility. Furnishings were very Out of Africa sophisticated yet comfortable and romantic. Great food and friendly staff. Solid WiFi. Gorgeous setting.
