For anyone who is visiting Frostburg State University, I highly recommend coming to this restaurant for dinner. Had a hard time choosing what to get cause everything sounded fantastic! But I ended up getting the baked potato soup. It was the best I’ve ever had! So rich, creamy, and delicious. I got the crabby fillet with a baked potato and a salad. The salad was fine but the steak and baked potato stole the show! Not a fan of corn bread but that’s just because of personal preference. My boyfriend got the New York strip, salad, and French fries and said his meal was fantastic too. Service was great. The waitress was kind, helpful, and took great care of us. Definitely coming back to this restaurant!

I ate here with my girlfriend today, and I must say, the Maryland seafood did NOT disappoint! I highly recommend the Chesapeake fries. That crab dip really was something else! The restaurant looks very nice and there's no loud music. Our waitress was very welcoming and courteous. We has a fantastic experience here and we'll definitely come back! Went to dinner for my birthday. Had the Cajun Chicken and Shrimp with sautéed mushrooms, with Cajun cream sauce, sweet potato fries with maple syrup. Also had the Buffalo Chicken dip appetizer with soft pretzels. That was amazing! It was absolutely amazing food, so delicious. The service was excellent, waitress was wonderful.

MY MAIN course was 8 ounce flat iron steak with sweet potato instead of the fries 🍟. NOW a special prayer into heaven for the hands ✋️ of the chef 👩‍🍳 best steak I've ever had in my LIFE wow 👌 browned away with the flavor .To top it off Destiny recommended the pumpkin 🎃 spice cheesecake 😋.I WILL be back again and again .❤️ 😍 💖

Had a delicious buffalo chicken dip grilled cheese! I definitely recommend that dish to anyone wanting to try something new here. Bread was crispy but still soft!

Tonight, l ate here and had the hot roast beef dinner and it was terrible! It was dry, it tasted awful and it was cold in the middle. I ate with a dinner party and another person got the turkey melt and it tasted awful. It was like lunch meat. We wait 1 hour to get our food. The hostess accidentally billed us for our bill and 2 other bills. She refunded us for the 2 bills but still overcharged us for our bill.

We went there twice on a recent driving trip. It was situated about mid-way. The menu is extensive. We didn’t drink anything alcoholic because we were driving. We had a turkey burger, a steak sandwich, a cod fish wrap, and a veggie burger between the two is us. The turkey burger was very very good as was the steak sandwich. Some of the food tends a bit towards the greasy or cheesy side - but you can order around it. Food is very reasonably priced too, and the staff are super friendly. We will definitely be going back!

Amazing service. Waitress was very kind quick and helpful. All 4 of our steaks were cooked to PERFECTION and I mean PERFECT the way we ordered them. The spicy pickles were in the top 3 breaded pickles I’ve had and the cheese fries were good. The sides of baked potatoe and broccoli hit perfect with the steak and not much of a corn bread guy but have to say it was delightful. Would highly recommend and will try n stop back in next time in town for work. MORE to add went back for a night 2. The mushroom caps and spicy peel shrimp apps were amazingly delicious. Got the ribs and they were fall off the bone good with fries and BBQ sauce to dip in (suggest) with coleslaw which was okey and friend got steakhouse burgher said was delicious our sides where overflowing. My French fries and his onion rings were a meal in them selves with his Mac and cheese. All for a reasonable price with beers included. Was very very sad the draft was down while there but had bottles of everything. Just hope drafts r working next visit cause so many menu choices makes me wanna go back and try everything

Recommend a beer and the BBQ brisket wrap. We also had the potato skins topped with chili. Fast and friendly service. With a western vibe. Not much to choose from in Frostburg so we will definitely be back since they have a large menu. Street parking and a lot available next door.

Tonight was our last visit and it's ashame because we've been customers for years. This place has gone down the tubes. Regardless of asking and speaking to the owner there was no sense of hope . I'm pretty sure that they have also thrown in the towel. We waited over an hour for appetizers and salads . Our dinners which came out cold and missing entrees took about an hour and half . We sent the cold food back and asked to speak to the owner . The server was okay but seemed distraught . We actually felt bad for her . The manager looked confused and actually looked like she was in over her head and didn't belong . The owner was the cherry on top when she came out. Actually had the audacity to offer a gift card . We instantly rejected and said no way we won't be returning . She reminded us she took the cold food off and we explained that was a given as people were leaving hungry . She made it a clear that was all she had to offer and explained her help was limited . If I could rate zero stars I would but one is the lowest option . We used to come here and had such great experiences . Please don't waste your time because you will be disappointed . Nobody cares about your experience .

We were weary from a long crossing of the river. Hope was fading from our hearts, too heavy with the hardship of the long journey ahead to Oregon Territory. Every door in town shut as our wagon passed through. On the west side of town we saw a saloon door that would open for us. Ma wiped her tear away from the loss of young Enus at the last fording, brushed dust off her dress, and we went in. Lord, we'd not been so kindly greeted since they sold us this conestoga in Harper's Ferry! They sat us at their finest table, even in the front! I hear they have steaks this big in Kansas territory and I'll write you again if they do! Bless me, little Fred even got a little fruit jerky they call a "fruit roll up" with his "kid's meal." The steward Aiden treated us like we was kings. Five stars.

Service was good, food was average not a lot of choices in Frostburg so this might be the place.

Second time here. Great tap selection for the craft beer fans like myself! They had Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA on tap! I ordered the fried pickles and chicken tenders. Both were delicious. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful. Frostburg, you got a pretty cool place here! Highly recommend!

Ate there once, and only once. Will never go back. Food was cold and dry, (we waited for over almost an hour and the food was setting in the kitchen) waiter didn't care, refused to remake the food, and manager refused to acknowledge us. The manager just shrugged her shoulders and walked off.

Breakfast at SUN UP CAFE at Sand Springs to Go is an excellent place for breakfast- golden waffle, fruit compote, eggs - delicious! Beautiful little spot for a great breakfast!

Sand springs never disappoint! Got seated right away, waitress was very friendly & professional, the restaurant was very clean as were the restrooms, service was fast and friendly

Went there on 1/17/25 made reservations. This was recommended. They have an extensive menu. We went there for prime rib. The place was packed. We received prompt service and we did not have to wait long for our order. The food was very good and met expectations. We will go there again 40 mile trip one way

Did not get my food until everyone else was finished eating. Was told she forgot to put in my order. When I did get it meat was Tough. I think it was put in microwave because she forgot to bring it with the other orders. Bad Service in my opinion

Food and service were good and prices were reasonable. I would have rated it higher, but the steak was too heavily seasoned for me.

Online presence - The yelp page is mild, however their Facebook is active and they post specials and events frequently. (1) First impression - N/A been there so many times. Signage/(Chalkboard appreciation) - N/A Lighting - None really noticeable (0) Unique food choices - They have a bunch of food choices and there's always some solids. (1) Style / furniture - Really neat western decor. (1) Temperature - Good for me, not too hot, not too cold. (1) Noise - I can see where this place could get noisy but wasn't when we went. (1) Good taste / food - Crap pretzel is KING. (1) Waiting time - Typically, during the day is fine but at night, since this is such a popular spot among regulars, it sucks to wait. (1) Waitress knowledge - fine (1) Price - I assume fine (.5) Chips to guac ratio (if applicable): There was just enough toast points for the crab dip. (1) Cleanliness - clean (1) parking - Lunch time parking was fine but my god it could get bad at night. Frostburg sucks to park in. (1) Overall 11.5/13

Used to frequent this place a lot when my wife and I went to college - decided to drop in on our way to Deep Creek. Arrived at noon on a Thursday and was "greeted" by the hostess who didn't even look at us and seemed like our presence was a complete inconvenience. She led us to our table and stated "someone will be with you as soon as we can" in a voice that wasn't friendly at all. What a terrible first impression in stark contrast to what I remember from our college days! Took about 10 min to be served and the waitress was much more pleasant than the host. She took our drink and food orders and we got everything in 18 min. Food was awesome!!!

Slow service attributable to a busy Sunday crowd and, perhaps, because we had a new server in training. Nonetheless, we enjoyed a brief repast for lunch during a 70s style road trip through the northeast. Iced tea & coffee were our thirst slakers of choice. I opted for the Flat Iron Steak Salad which was accompanied by a breadstick. Since we were in Maryland, Will chose the crab cake sandwich which he ate open-faced (too much bun). He commented that it was very good. The place was in an old building where the seating was more broken up into rooms creating a slightly more interesting and somewhat more private experience. A large added open bar and dining area and outside porch made this a fairly large restaurant for this small, off the beaten path town.

Really have never had a bad meal here- that being said, only having eaten here maybe 3 times and being so close all the time. Your traditional steak house type feel with western accents- but is a big staple in the area in terms of food options. I've had a couple different items in my travels - crab dip l, fried pickle, crab pretzel, etc. As far as entree - usually go the sandwich route, but on my most recent trip I went with a salad. The salad was good - had a nice variety of chicken and the Caesar dressing accompanied it. Overall nothing too grand but It was very good. Also, had a piece of a friend pickle which was good - and a cup of Maryland crab soup. Originally my pea brain thought that meant cream of crab soup- but alas I got popped. Still very good. I would say in the area in terms of NON-chain food places with table service, this one comes in the top 10.

Sand Springs is a great place to eat.It has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff is always friendly.It is on the expensive side with a chef that puts unusual combinations of spices in their dishes.Some chef's are over the top trying to impress instead of just serving good food. Remember just because I don't like the food this still maybe the perfect place for you.Give it a try.

This is our go to place when in town. The food is always excellent in this rustic setting. The waiters are friendly, attentive and helpful.

This is this users girlfriend ....... went for my birthday today, food quality sucked. I always get the ribs and they're always good, but today they were the worst ever, pretty sure any fast food place would have had better then the ones I received tonight. staff was good. nice restaurant could dust more, but the quality of food ain't as good. After the quality my boyfriend and I received on our main courses I do not recommend. Very let down when the waitress said she'd let them know and did not take any off the bill when I told her about the quality and how it was not enjoyable. Would recommend somewhere else like Henny's for now on.

Love the food here- never had anything that wasn't good except for the cosmopolitan. They are supposed to be light pink (see picture), not red like the one I received (see other picture). This is a basic drink, but some bartenders just can't seem to get it right. Definition: A cosmopolitan, or informally a cosmo, is a cocktail made with vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, and freshly squeezed or sweetened lime juice.

This is the first review I've ever written but I thought it was necessary. This place will sell you a 8 ounce NY strip that's more like 6. If you like a good medium rare then try ordering it raw because I got the most dry and tough steak I've ever had (including cheap cuts).

In a small college town, timing of arrival is most important. After a home football game on a Saturday, the crowd will probably be larger than usual along with the wait times. Service was fast and friendly. The food choices are typical and offer great value for the prices. My order came a little on the "not hot" side however, everyone's meals arrived at the same time. The outside deck was great with the weather and sun. The drinks were cold.

Always superior service and some of the best food in the area. This has become our go-to for special occasions and family gatherings. Reservations are recommended.

I went for the second time to this restaurant in a week. Reason I went back especially since I was on vaca visiting my son was the BBQ brisket hamburger I had was phenomenal. I couldn't wait to have this again and it's saying a lot knowing I'm not a hamburger phonetic. It really as to be quality meat for me plus flavor. The second time I changed my mind due to the time was late evening before we were seated and I wanted something light so I opted for the steak salad. The lettuce was on a bed of fries and a lean strip of steak cooked on top. I had it cooked medium so it would still be juicy and flavorful but it was tough and flavorless. The dressing and salad was fresh and tasty and the fries crispy which I took from under my lettuce so they wouldn't get soggy and ate them with ketchup. The service was slow and forgetful the first time but I am a very patient person. Due to COVID I have even increased my patience level with extra reassurance that mistakes are allowed due to short staff of which I hope everybody is practicing kindness, understanding and love. The waitress was nice enough without being really friendly. She brought what was asked for even if it took a second try. The second time was on a Thursday around 6:00 pm and we were told a 30 minute wait and ended up waited 90 minutes with two hungry, tired but patient children ages 3 1/2 and 5. I went in to see why it took so long and she said due to my large group of 6 two being kids they were waiting on a table. She told me we were next at the corner window booth but when she sat us they had already placed other patrons in the booth and she put us upstairs all by ourselves and played more waiting game. By the time my meal came I just asked for a to go box. Lacking of service and refills. Kids were sleepy and I filled up on chips and soup. the waitress was apologetic but the hostess a more mature lady was very unconcerned to say the least. Due to COVID we should be patient and forgiving but I have yet to see the establishment should be more friendly. I am supporting their business and spending good money, all I ask is treat me with the kindness I show and a bit of respect for my patronage.

A welcoming crew and excellent service! I tried the brisket burger and it was juicy, very well marinated and delicious! Highly recommended.

I had dinner on 10/21. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant seemed clean. They sat me at a bar table. The bartender seemed overloaded. She did not pay very much attention to my order. I ordered a 10 ounce New York strip medium rare. The steak came out medium well too well done. The mushrooms were delicious and the teriyaki vegetables were also delicious. Unfortunately the steak was way overcooked. I brought this to the attention of my waitress, and she did not seem to care at all about it. At least at Texas roadhouse, they gave me a discount when they overcooked my steak. I definitely recommend checking your steak before the waitress leaves your table. Next, I was given the bill. The bartender seemed to have a lengthy conversation with someone at the bar and forgot to come get my credit card. I had to flag another waitress to finally pay my bill after sitting for over 20 minutes. Definitely could use some improvements on the service.

I've been on a Rueben sandwich kick for a while now, trying different places to find a good one. I spent several months in several states looking for one during our military PCS and we stopped in this little town for the night because the baby reached his limit in the car. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel staff so we tried it. They Ruben has been the best thing I've ever set my lips on. Who'd have thought? It's been a couple of months since we've stopped and I've since continued my Reuben journey but none have compared even still. Well done.

Amazing Food,Waiters/Staff Always Clean Food Is Always Hot And Delicious The Service Was Amazing The People Were So Polite Always Came To Check On Us See If We Needed Anything And You Get Big Portions For What You Pay Which Isn't Outrageous

We chose this restaurant when the one we were originally intending to eat at was closed. We were happy with this choice. My daughter ordered the ribs and baked beans and I ordered the blackened salmon with a baked potato and broccoli. Both meals were very good. Our server was nice, and the restaurant seemed clean. If you visit Frostburg, I would recommend this place for lunch.

Went there a week or two ago and the food was delicious!! Only thing I disliked was the seasoning that was on the steak I got. It had good flavor, but there was fennel seed in the seasoning that took away from the steaks natural flavor... I've never had fennel seed in a steak, it's usually more of a pork/sausage seasoning but everything else was delicious!! Their cornbread is the best!!

Had dinner with the family at Sand Springs Saloon in Frostburg. Wonderful food, good service, fun ambience. The kids decimated their steaks (they had steak on the kids menu!), and the soups and salads were excellent. All around great, and definitely would return.

Food is always amazing, service is great, the restaurant its self looks awesome. It's always clean too. Never disappoints!

I'm not gonna lie, I had very low expectations going into this experience. However, Sand Springs was amazing! Came here for dinner with my in-laws for dinner, they are always raving about the place. When you first come in it just gives you the vibe that it's gonna be your average country bar. Not the case at all. :-) I was not expecting great cuisine but I got it. I ordered the fish stuffed with crab and veggies. The fish was super flakey and I could tell the crab meat had been picked and made in house. The others got the blackened salmon and the scallop bow tie pasta, I tried them both and they tasted great! I am most definitely a fan of this place, we'll be back!

Went in as the last seating on 4th of July. The service was a little slow and uninterested, but I would bet that it had been a long Holiday for our server, and we were a big group. The steaks came out exactly as we requested, and the meal was quite tasty. The western décor was quirky, and we had a good view of the Frostburg area out of our window. Parking isn't too bad, but watch your step when going inside!!

Fast friendly service, hot generous portions in a western motif bar and restaurant. I had the ribs, delish!

Stopped here on the way home from VA to PA. Wanted a good steak to enjoy on our long day of traveling. This place was charming and reviews looked good. I had the crab lobster bisque, always one of my favs, it was delicious! Hot, creamy, and decadent. I had the NY strip cooked medium to perfection, baked sweet potato, and side salad. My meal was so good and I am very pleased we stopped here . My husband had medium wings, he said they were cooked crispy with a generous amount of tangy sauce. Check this place out if your looking for a good steak, sandwich, appetizer, and drinks.

The food is great. I got the turkey burger and it was cooked perfectly. Juicy and not dry like other turkey burgers you would get elsewhere. They were busy but we still got our food in decent time and it wasn't cold and the staff was attentive. Definitely recommend.

This restaurant has been around for a while, and unfortunately I did not discover how good it was until I moved out of the area. Now it's one of my go-to spots to meet friends when I'm back in town. Service is pretty good, and I've never had an issue with my food. I'm a big fan of their lobster bisque.

Busy place but service was good for a week night. Hubby had Taco Salad $9 and I had Sidewinder Shrimp $19. Both were tasty.

Since going back post COVID reopening, this place still has it! I always get the same things but was recommended a new dish by my server, their salmon with Mac-n-cheese and let me say, it did NOT disappoint! The salmon was by far one of the best I have ever gotten while dining out and the mac n cheese was like an old school style which was even better. I chose a salad as my other side and it was very fresh lettuce and all the toppings were fresh. Plus, you get cornbread with your meal which was also amazing (as always). For anyone nervous about going out, they are socially distanced and do a very good job of cleaning. I watched the owner sanitize every single menu that was brought back to her and properly get everything ready. They never disappoint, you must go here!

Absolutely a must! Food so good. Service to perfection. Owner was the hostess and very personable with a staff who followed suit. We were visiting for the weekend, so good we came back the next night.

Alright I'll just spoil it for you. This place has a damn fine brisket burger, and I would highly recommend you get it. They have a wide menu, with steaks obviously, but the brisket burger was outstanding. As an appetizer I ordered the nachos and cheese. I swear to you right now I thought it was served in a sombrero, but it wasn't. It is not a nacho sombrero but it was beautifully organized with the hot cheese in the middle. Most importantly the waitress, Michelle, was very friendly and fast. After I got done eating here I wanted to take a nap. No I mean that in a GOOD way. Perhaps I should lay off on beef for a while? Hell no.

Awesome place we found through Yelp! Will definitely go back! The staff and locals were very friendly and invited us back! O my about 60 miles from Morgantown!!
