Sandals Grande Antigua

"Antigua's Dickenson Beach, with long stretches of white sand, is the island's most beloved for a reason, and the adults-only Sandals Grande Antigua has the best and most reliable access. But that's not all: you won't run out of things to do, as the full-service resort has a piano bar, six swimming pools, eleven restaurants and bars, and a tennis court. Take a break from the water to go on a customized walking tour of the closest town, St. John's, or try a spa treatment like a lavender scalp massage that will help you over that jet lag in no time. Upgrade to one of the plunge pool villas at the Mediterranean Village property for 24-hour room service, a private butler, and (you guessed it) plunge pools."

We have just come back from Sandals Antigua for our 25th wedding Anniversary. We actually got married there originally, so it was an amazing trip down memory lane. The resort has expanded a lot since 2000, and to be honest, we were nervous. That anxiety quickly dissipated with the warm welcome on arrival, a lovely room, and a super-friendly staff. We have visited many Sandals over the years, and no this is not the most palatial of their resorts, but it retains its authentic Caribbean charm, and for that I applaud Sandals. Please don't change it. ||All of the staff were friendly and helpful; they could not do enough. ||A special shout out for Latisha in the Loyalties office, who was so helpful organising our loyalty points and membership status. We were so pleased we booked to go back next year for 11 nights with our friends. We would not have done this on resort if it had not been for her.||We were also delighted to find the lady who married us 25 years ago was still there and she remembered us! Thank you Lydia.||A hidden gem of the resort is the Piano Bar. A nice relaxing air conditioned bar, great for pre or post dinner drinks. The lady that works there is so freindly and again has been there for 17 years so Sandals must be doing something right. We didn't catch her name.||All in all, a great holiday and a relaxed and friendly resort.

5 night stay with my fiancé. We really enjoyed the beautiful beach and our time on Antigua. I want to recognize John at the piano bar, Celia at the pool bar, Joshua and the many fun photographers, Claudia's awesome karaoke, our fun bingo host, omelete chef and many more. The staff were truly fun. The saxophone player was amazing! We sang, danced, and really enjoyed all the entertainers. We really enjoyed our breakfasts. The food was always good and service was quick. The cocktails were great. We scheduled a photo session, got great shots, and bought a set of photos. We snorkeled and visited the duty free shopping, but stayed primarily on the resort. We would return for another vacation.

Sandals Antigua is beautiful with amazing views. The pool is large and has rafts which is unlike other sandals resorts I have been to. Highly recommend the spa and Threcia and Andrea in particular for massages. They did an incredible job, were super friendly and very helpful. Well worth the money. The best restaurant on the resort is Soy by far. Their food was incredible. Best sushi I’ve ever had. House keeping was also amazing and did an incredible job keeping our room clean and even coming back later if we were still in the room their first time through. Everyone on the resort was super friendly.

This is a beautiful resort. I've been to several Sandals resorts, now, and I do believe this one to be the most visually appealing resort, thus far. The architecture around the resort is beautiful as as the grounds, and the beachfront. I have one complaint and that is the size of the rondoval suite we were in. It's VERY tight inside. From what I understand they're not like that at all resorts, though. It's cozy if ythat's your thing, but if you spend more than a little bit of time in your room, it's too tight in my opinion. Food was fabulous at Bayside and Eleanor's. And we were able to get a lobster lunch 2 days in a row, by request. Our butlers, Shawn and N'Kosi, were on point with that and delivered a succulent lunch to our patio. I believe we could have had it more than twice had we known to order sooner. We went during the off-season, and for us, that was perfect. The resort wasn't crowded and access to any and everything was effortless. I would visit again.

Read this review!!! It will help you. Pros: Great beach, awesome location, great service, AMAZING FOOD! Best resort food weve had. Not much buffet choices, more restaurant style. Cons: The island and the resort has native species of wild life (frogs etc) that are active at night. They are LOUD! If you are a light sleeper prepare with earplugs or other solutions as it can be difficult to rest. The hotel is older and shows. Internet was slow and spotty, so not ideal for work or meetings if you have to. TVs are not smart to app access is none existent. We had rainy days and would of enjoyed some shows. Overall: Good resort but AMAZING ISLAND. Visit Antigua.

Couple from the UK, mid-40s | 2-week stay | Booked via Virgin Holidays||We’re currently halfway through our stay at Sandals Antigua, and while the location is undeniably beautiful—with breathtaking sunsets, a gorgeous beach, and a lovely pool area—the overall experience has been underwhelming, especially considering the premium price.||🌴 Arrival & Room Confusion||Our welcome began well with cold towels and a relaxed check-in area. However, things quickly turned frustrating. Despite booking a Mediterranean Oceanview Grande Luxe Club Level Suite (upgraded from a walkout garden room), we were initially placed in a ground floor walkout. After some back-and-forth with staff—who seemed surprised when checking the system—we were eventually moved to the correct room. The process lacked transparency and left us feeling misled. We were also charged $400 to the room at check-in without prior notice.||🍽️ Dining & Service||Food options are limited, with only one buffet available for breakfast and lunch. Three restaurants require advance booking via the app, but once on-site, the app becomes unusable for reservations—a detail never communicated beforehand. Service across the resort has been consistently slow. We’ve waited long periods for drinks, had breakfast orders forgotten, and even received cold food at the English pub. At one restaurant, we waited 30 minutes to be seated and another 25 minutes before receiving a drink.||🛠️ Construction & Facilities||The resort is currently undergoing construction, which detracts from the overall ambiance and tranquility. This was not made clear at the time of booking and has been a noticeable disruption.||💆 Spa & Extras||The spa is significantly overpriced for the level of service offered. We expected a more luxurious experience given the cost, but it didn’t deliver.||🏖️ Other Observations||The no-tipping policy is inconsistently enforced.||Sunbeds are quickly reserved by butlers—often unused for hours—making it difficult to find a spot unless you’re up early.||Drink service is slow and inconsistent throughout the resort.||⚠️ Final Thoughts |While the scenery and facilities are impressive, the service, dining experience, and lack of communication fall short of expectations. We’ve stayed at better resorts for less money with far superior hospitality. At best, this feels like a 3-star experience masked by a 5-star setting.

We had a fantastic trip! The activities in the Med Pool were fun and interactive - Amanda, JuJu and DJ Sky did a great job making sure there was a fun vibe at the pool. Our butlers were Corri, Hunter and June and all were great! Marie in the Med Bar was top notch - great drinks and conversation. Sushi at Soy is a must-do. ||The pool was huge and a great place to spend the day. Beautiful beach. The evening was a bit subdued it seemed - would have preferred that the party type things started a little earlier but they were fun activities when we did go (karaoke, live music, etc).

The beach was beautiful and overall good experience. The younger staff were so much friendlier than the other staff. Some of the older staff made us feel like we were a burden to be there. There was a bad storm and they had some internal problems- 3 of the 4 lunch restaurants were closed or moved location and there was no communication. They could have easily made a notification at the pool (Dj was playing) or sent out a notification on the app. We walked all the way across the resort to be told that 2 of the restaurants were closed and had been moved to other side of the resort where we were prior to trying to eat lunch. Lunch was chaos- which we understood something was going on, however, we were seated and went to the Buffett and were half way through our meal and not a single staff member came by to fill our water glass or take our drink order (1st thing that normally happens) and they weren’t understaffed there were a ton of staff walking around. It took my husband getting up and flagging someone down just so we could get water to drink. The food was okay nothing to rave about. Service was okay. We certainly had better service and overall friendless at sandals in st Lucia. |One thing I was super impressed with was how well they took care of the cats on their property. I’m a huge animal lover and they all looked so healthy and we were told by one of our waiters Chad that all the cats are accounted for (237 total) most of them were fixed and they knew which ones were not. They had cat cafes (feeding areas) all over the property. This was not the case in st Lucia and broke my heart so to see the cats here so happy and well cared for and they loved the staff warmed my heart!|Room was nice and spacious. Bathroom was extremely humid.
