Sandals Grande Antigua

We were fortunate enough to spend almost 2 weeks here in January. Antigua is an amazing island with the friendliest people. We chose here so we could explore on our own without worrying and it was perfect. The Sandals resort is lovely. The staff can’t do enough for you and all the restaurants have great food. The beach is lovely, it is a public beach but you don’t get approached to buy things too often. Plenty of space and pools that the resort never feels busy which is a nice thing. Some evening entertainment but it doesn’t go on very late. We loved our room which was perfectly situated between the Caribbean side and the Mediterranean side. It was a little dated but we were fine with that as the bed was big and comfy and the aircon worked a treat as well as having a big balcony. It’s a personal preference but we preferred being on the Caribbean side as it’s more authentic and less of a trek from the beach etc. we would definitely stay here again. Plenty of water-sports on offer as well.

Pros: Our butlers, Mickel, Dionne, and Daren were amazing! Very attentive. Got us our orders right away. Highly recommend getting a room with butler service. The food was great! Plenty of restaurants to choose from. The beach was amazing! They clean sea grass daily and white sand is soft and feels great on walks. Great well-maintained grounds. Cons: Rooms are dated, furniture scratched, small shower head, low water pressure. The communication between the butlers and the front desk needs improvement. We told our butler to have a cab ready at 3pm and when I asked at 3:05 where it is, the front desk didnt know anything about it. Luckily, we didnt miss our flight due to this. The beach is public and so you keep getting hassle by vendors to buy stuff, when all you wanna do is relax. There are Sandals vendors from the spa and the photo place as well that keep asking you if you want to book an appointment and ask you to take pictures constantly, which ruins the relaxation at the beach. The price for this resort isn't worth the experience overall, in my opinion.

We had a lovely stay at Sandals Grand Antigua. We enjoyed the people, the beach and entertainment We have food allergies in our group and we had fabulous service from chef Juleen and Dwayne. They were very attentive to our needs and visited us at every meal. It was fabulous to see the attention they gave to our food and made us feel very comfortable. ||I do agree with a number of other reviews that they are short staffed and need to fix the issue. . Getting drinks to the table does take a little time however we were there for a vacation and we were not in any rush. We had some incredibly nice staff and in addition to Juleen, the bar and restaurant staff were great and friendly. ||Rooms on the Caribbean side definitely need a refresh, very dated. Our 1st impression of the room was a little disappointing ||If you are allergic to cats this place will be a problem for you. They have a cat rescue program which is lovely but can be problematic to many. Also, I came home covered in flea bites. Although this program is a great option for the cats, I feel that paying a premium for a 5 Star resort flea bites should not be something I should be worried about including bringing home the problem with my clothes or bags. ||I’d like to say, the people in Antigua are wonderful people. The island and beaches are beautiful

This is our 3rd Sandals vacation and the first at this location. The beach is beautiful and didn’t feel crowded. The staff were very friendly and helpful. |I had a massage with Keisha and she was amazing. I get massages monthly and she Is definitely at the top of the list!|The resort is beautiful and the landscaping of always kept so nice. I took off one star because the rooms feel dated.

We returned to Sandals Grande Antigua in August in December to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The resort is beautiful and well maintained - parts are dated but staff indicated renovations and updates are happening and plans are in the works. We enjoyed the option of having a smaller quiet pool or a busier, pool with music. The beach is beautiful and is quiet large. The vendors did approach but a polite no thank you and they did not bother. There is a drop spot for cruiseships visitors. They definitely made the beach a lot busier but we did not encounter any issues with them taking any chairs or anything that was specifically sandals. Food was good. Some restaurants better than others but that is to be expected depending upon personal tastes and preferences. Service could be slow at times but this is happening all over with staff challenges...so just sit back and remember your are on vacation and enjoy your views and the company of who you are vacationing with. We had butler service for the first time and it was truly amazing. It was definitely worth the added expense. Our team of hunter, June and Jessica made our vacation truly memorable. We have stayed at this and other sandals multiple times without butler service and have a great time.

This is an excellent resort. Very well maintained and run. All of the staff are very friendly, approachable and above all professional. The food in all the restaurants is excellent and well served. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and the daily servicing is very good and reliable. There are plenty of activities to choose from both in the evening and the day time. No matter if you want entertainment or a quiet time, this resort caters for you. ||To summarise, Sandals have got this resort and their business model absolutely right. We have already booked for next year!

My husband and I went for our anniversary. Overall we enjoyed the resort as a whole. However, aspects were hit or miss. Had to wait for our room to be ready. Our Sunset Bluff poolside room was updated and clean. The view was lovely and the beach was extraordinary. We were disappointed in the food. We didn't expect the restaurant choices to include hotdogs and pizza. Options and menu felt limited. Room service could also have more options as well. Drinks were great, however, we did have to wait quite a bit at times. The resort had a intimate vibe with trailing paths and lush gardens. As for entertainment, we heard someone singing once but didn't get the impression entertainment was a strong point. Staff was kind and helpful when asked.

This was our first time at a Sandals resort and we will definitely book again. Beautiful resort and very large. It was clean including the beach. Even though it was a full resort it didn't feel very busy. My side of the bed had a dip in it so you could tell it was quite old and used, also it was spring so not super comfortable but still slept good!! Food was great! Make your reservations ahead of time because it is impossible to reserve at the resort. Also Barefoot is a little slow so make sure you have plenty of time. Our favorite was Soy, they’ll let you order all the rolls if you want! It was really cool to have the options for free kayaks and paddle boards. Wish we would have known about the snorkel trip everyday. We didn’t really get a lot of information so we didn’t know much of anything. Signage could have been better as well. Overall it was a great experience and we would definitely go back! Miss all the kitties already!
